I've heard that Owen and Tosh are leaving, and Martha is replacing Owen. I've also heard that Mickey [From Doctor Who - Rose's Ex BF] is joining the team

Of course, these could be utter bull.

It wouldn't surprise me if Owen does leave - after all, one hit and he's gone. But, like Osiris said, I haven't heard the Mickey one either - that one would surprise me, especially since Rose returns in the next series of Doctor Who.

I know, Torchwood finale, Doctor Who opening. What a brilliant weekend. :w00t:

And, hopefully, it won't be like last year's series - Blink aside, it was rubbish. (Not that I'm holding out much hope, especially since we've got Catherine Tate has the Doctor's assistant - and I didn't like her much in The Runaway Bride (2006's Christmas Doctor Who, of course.)

I know I'm in a huge minority, but I really MUCH prefer Torchwood to Dr Who.

Ignoring Barrowman in TW, Dr Who is just TOO theatrical at times :(

After the last Torchwood series, I am almost with you on this.

with the finale being near back to back with the Doctor I wonder if there's some element of a crossover

I completely agree, I just can't stand Dr Who but I really enjoy Torchwood

And I like Barrowman, he plays CJH really well and that isn't easy considering the personality they gave CJH  ... In truth its Gorman that I don't really like :(

I like(d) Doctor Who but wasn't keen on Freema. I did, however, like her in Torchwood.

Barrowman can be VERY over the top at times, but there's something very likable about him which stops me feeling irritated by him. I prefer light-hearted, flirty Captain Jack to the serious one though; I'm not as interested in the Gray story as I guess I'm meant to be.

For me, it's the team members who have come on in leaps and bounds this series. It no longer feels like a one-man show. Although he hasn't been given a particular episode to sink his teeth into like the others, Ianto has become a very watchable character, the writers obviously seemed to notice David-Lloyd had a knack for sarcy humour. Naoko Mori has done well to give Tosh a bit of depth beyond the computer geek surface. Burn Gorman...I don't know, he probably is my least favourite of the group aswell, although I think Owen as a character has become more likable now they've given some explanation as to why he can be a bit of an arsehole at times.

Ofcourse he can be over the top but that just how the show's creators wanted to portray his character, I think its different from how most heroes are seen on TV so to me its a welcome change. Im undecided about the whole Gray thing but in truth I don't really care but will wait to see the season finale before making up my mind.

And I agree with the team members having become more involved with the show especially during Season 2. It did start off as a Jack/Gwen based show which to me was off putting. I prefer Ianto as a character probably because of the humor Gareth puts into his character.

i really didnt like the finale...heartwrenching, i was close to crying

9/10

cant believe Tosh is dead, not expecting at all. Very emotional death and extremly well acted by Naoko Mori

Bloody brilliant finale. Watched it 3 times already.

There was no tears from me.. But it was a well written, well acted and well produced piece of TV.

Loved it.

9.5/10.

I'm so glad that Gwen and Ianto survived. :kink: Although I'll proberly miss Owen and Tosh.

It wasnt anywhere near as good as last seasons finale but it was alright. Grey was such a dick, which was a good twist because i was ex[ecting him not to remember Jack or they would just have an emotional reunion or something.
the only problem i had with the finale was that the guy who played gray was SO wooden in so many parts that it got to the point where i was relieved when jack drugged him and he collapsed!!!!
Fantastic episode...but so very sad especially Tosh's message at the end
This season of Torchwood has been sooo much better! Great ending to the series and can't wait to see who joins Torchwood next. Hoping for Martha to join full time after UNIT get blasted in Dr Who!
An AMAZING Finale, 10/10, cant believe Tosh died though :(

An EXCELLENT series in all. Even the supposed duds like the Night Travellers episode were very watchable in reality.

I've already said I've loved how it's no longer just the Jack/Gwen show, and the other 3 members were given more of a chance to develop. It's just a shame Owen and Tosh have both gone now.

The finale itself was good, only a few criticisms. The bloke playing Gray...bloody AWFUL. If he'd been a bit-part villain, you could forgive it. But this was supposed to be the big series bad guy who was about to completely destroy an entire city.

I also thought the whole thing might have worked better as a double episode; the first episode devoted to the building chaos in Cardiff (which ended up being sorely underdeveloped, and hence there just wasn't the feeling of panic and doom that there should have been), and then the second half to the goings-on within the Torchwood hub, and Toshiko/Owen's end.

On a positive note; Naoko Mori and Burn Gorman were fantastic I thought. Mori especially managed to convey a lot of emotion just through her facial expressions; always impressive. And the short scene of her having to roll her body down the stairs was very chilling. It would have been very easy for the writers to have turned the Tosh/Owen death scene into a scmaltzy "I love you" fest, and I'm very glad they didn't, it made the whole thing a lot more convincing and touching.

I really do hope Series 3 gets commisioned, although I am concerned by some of the rumours flying about.

Martha I could live with just about (although I suspect with 3 big names now to contend with in Barrowman, Myles and Agyeman all vying for airtime, I can see poor Gareth David-Lloyd being relegated back again to background fodder, which would be a huge waste). I can't see Mickey fitting into Torchwood at all unless he's had a massive character overhaul and toughened up a lot. What's most worrying is talk of TW being moved to a 7pm Saturday slot. The whole point of Torchwood was to explore the more adult nature of the DrWho world, but that will become plain impossible in an early evening slot. The show would simply become a sub-standard Doctor Who clone, and what's the point in that?
