Melanie C joins Various Artists for global management representation

International artist management company Various Artists has revealed that Melanie Chisholm, also known as Melanie C, has joined its roster for exclusive global representation.

David Bianchi, co-founder and CEO of Various Artists, said: “Melanie is a legend, which is a word that’s bandied around a lot but mostly without meaning. Not in this case. She is an exceptional artist and has one of the most recognisable names, voices and faces in pop history. We are so delighted to welcome her to Various Artists.”

Melanie C said: “I’m thrilled to be joining forces with the team at Various Artists Management and proud to become part of their roster. Watching the company grow and seeing the enthusiasm they have for all of their artists makes me very excited to see what we can achieve together.”

Various Artists Management, which has offices in London and Los Angeles, was founded by David Bianchi, Nick Ember, John Dawkins and Matt Luxon. Its current roster includes Ashnikko, Tom Grennan, La Roux, Sad Night Dynamite, Yonaka, The Libertines, Supergrass, Cassyette and others.

The company also has an existing music publishing arm, Various Songs, and a specialist songwriter, producer and remixer division. The latter division currently represents Cenzo Townsend, Martin Eden, Joe Rubel, Glen Roberts, Tom Manning, Damon Minchella, Frank Colucci, Danny Connors, Kingdoms, Rndmbeats, Earl Saga, Jon McClure, Ed Cousens and others.

Wouldn't that free up time this year for anything SG related? And "next year" could mean Nov 2024 for all we know, leaving the first part of the year open. (I'm trying to hold a little glimmer of hope that something worthwhile we happen for Goodbye25).

With Gerita being all 'author' and with her cinema role this year, and Mel continuing to do live gigs everywhere again whilst working on new music, it doesnt give me any hope anymore, sadly...

The only thing I can see is the documentary coming out but then who cares about a new documentary?....

To be honest I am past caring, it's not going to be new music will just be another tour so if it happens then brilliant and I will go but I'd rather get new content from Mel solo than have another tour of the same songs.

Another album of middle of the road pop music from Mel C isn't exactly thrilling tbh... I know what you mean though, I am just sad that it looks like nothing will ever happen again...

In fairness, her self-titled album is pretty solid, and I think she's found her stride. I'm looking forward to her next follow-up album more than any follow-up in the past.

I happen to like her music a lot, so I guess I fare better from her releasing music than others.

I found a few tracks good and the rest more of the same to be honest, nothing that exciting. Who I Am and Blame It On Me were steps in the right direction though, for sure... But half way through the album it all sounds the same and the lyrical content continues to be a big issue with her (very little development in that department...)

Anyway, yep I am not that interested :teresa: Certainly will listen to the singles and if they peak my interest I will listen to the album but like last time, I wont buy all the editions. If the album is really good, then I might buy one edition if the content is worth it, but I am pretty bored with Spice-related releases at the moment, so im not expecting anything....

Like, her last physical release had barely any incentives to buy multiple editions. Just 10 tracks in most editions, nothing particularly new or exciting about that expensive 'book vinyl' lol and the packaging was, by all means, terrible and cheap quality. This also needs improvement imo.

I guess my standards have risen after 20 years of the lowest quality possible when it comes to Spice-related releases...

I don't really know what you expect from her in terms of quality on a self funded record label? Even then, I don't think anything looked particularly cheap in the last era and those blue and purple vinyls were actually gorgeous. The non-plastic packaging was more a push for more eco friendly options.

I also don't really get the lyrics criticism, yes she has a few cornier lyrics (If that were me screams out) but on the whole I don't find anything wrong with them?

Each to their own obviously, we all have different tastes but I personally find that Mel is criminally underrated and has written some fantastic tracks over the years. The only album of hers I actively cannot listen to is Stages and none of that is her own stuff anyway, every other album has some incredible songs both on the albums and in the B-Sides for me.

The standard vinyl for the 'Melanie C' album the cardboard was so thin there is no way you could play that regularly and not damage it. Eco friendly is fine but that vinyl feels the cheapest quality I have ever had.

I understand why, she wants to keep costs down but the quality of that vinyl oackaging is as basic as it can get. I didn't buy the expensive book thing as the 3 extra vinyls (was it 3?) were just the same songs weren't they?
