And finally since I got to page 5, what the blinking hell is Nickelback doing at #1  Actually its better than basshunter, and I hope it stays there, at last a single that has actually peaked at #1 after so many weeks. :D
Apparently, Michael Jackson has sold 60k already (my Michael Jackson loving friend told me, he read it off a Michael Jackson forum)

I doubt it though

There is no way he's sold 60k and only at #4 - JJ didn't even sell 60k the whole of last week

Oh god at Nickelback being #1, I knew that would happen. :(

I'm really shocked at Paramore being top 10 however. :o

I'm also really glad The Feeling aren't top 5, that is the prime definition of a poor comeback single.

YAY for Paramore :D

Ok, so Britney is at number ten with POM, and top 40 with Blackout. Is GM still top 60?

Just one request... has Mark Brown/Sarah Cracknell held up well at all, or not?

down 3

Why are Paramore so high?

Because a lot of people are buying it?

I can't stand Nikelback, and though Rockstar isn't bad by their standards I'm bored of it now BUT, anything is better than Basshunter, so I won't mind Nikelback being number one.

I am surprised about Paramore, but quite pleased as I like that song.

To be fair, we have only had 1 new number 1 this year - Basshunter, which is a dance track and not everyone's cup of tea. The first couple of months are often very slow, so I think it is far too early to write off 2008 yet. I think Nickelback will be number 1 this week, but don't rule out a 6th week for Basshunter as his sales seem to improve in comparison to the other tracks as the week goes on.

Give it a few weeks and I am sure there will be some exciting new releases reaching the top echelons of the chart.

its not just number 1s, I haven't really been into anything from 2008 so far.

I can't believe Goldfrapp is not higher and those five inferior songs are still up there. What is wrong with the Great British Public? I hope A & E at least goes higher than The Feeling's disappointing comeback single.

Duffy's Mercy is now at #10 on the ITunes chart. Wouldn't it be great if it shot up to the top to deny the dreadful Nickelback from being #1!

i hope kylie is high in the top 20 and not just number 20

delighted to see nickelback go number 1 i so hope they stay there

You can't please anyone.

People have been moaning for ages that the charts are too predictable. They've also moaned about how dreary and miserable Nickelback are.

So Nickelback finally release a light-hearted track, defies everyone's expectations, and has a completely unpredictable chart run (who'd have thought three months ago when Nickelback were considered lucky to even make #19 that they'd go on to be #1). And the people are still moaning.

You can't please anyone.

Answer: No one on here likes Nickelback, my thought on that anyway.

But YAH for GA top 30 and Kylie top 20!

I wouldn't mind if it was actually a good song that had a unpredictable chart run like that but ''Rockstar'' is absolutely vile. :P

I agree, Goldfrapp deserve the UK#1 hit single this week. But the Great British Public seem incapable of spotting a quality record anymore having spent too many years being told what to buy by Reality TV (so called) talent programmes instead.

But on a more optimistic note: Duffy's Mercy is already currently #1 on HMV's Download chart (H"two"O - What's It Gonna Be are #3 there by the way).

The UK has not had a decent UK#1 in months so lets go get another for a fantastic Welsh singer to save us from the clutches of a grim irony free Canadian rock band who seem to score a bigger hit the worse/annoying the record they make.

I would love to be proved wrong, but I can see Duffy being stuck behind Nickleback, H"Two"O, then Westlife (who are doing the "McFly" trick of getting their fanbase to order the download in advance for a big first day sale surge :puke:) in the next three weeks.
