February 13, 200817 yr Hmm...this is the first time I've heard it and it doesn't seem to be a patch on 'Change' hopefully this will make the top 10, but if 'Change' couldn't then this shouldn't either since I find it to be a weaker song, I just want them to do well.
February 13, 200817 yr This is MILEEES better than the rather bland Change. Unfortunately, I think it will fare similarly and get between #11-15.
February 13, 200817 yr I honestly don't see 'Denial' making the top 10, which doesn't reflect on the song at all... I just think this project is as good as over now. They're not gonna get any more real success from it. Exactly but U R the only one to make this crucial point so far...sometimes i wonder if i am really on a chart forum or not. Their album has sold EVEN more over the Xmas period (since last single release) therefore its likely the potential buyers of this single HOWEVER GOOD it is will be reduced further still than the last single(since they now already own it on the album). That the album has done so well ..........p!sses all over how this single performs , its not unlikely it will flop relatively for them though it still might squeeze out a few more album sales which is the point. Only the Kylies of the UK single chart can expect a top 10 position with a strong tune after an album has sold in such quantities but that imho has got more to do with her HUGE hardcore fanbase/collectors that she steadilly built up over two decades of consistant hit making + touring with 2 generations of fans that feverently buy what ever she releases - OBVIOUSLY this is something the sugababes don't or ever will have such is the rarity of a pop star having the chart life Kylie has had. You'll notice even if Kylie does get such a single into the top 10 the week later it drops like a stone because the market for it in the general public is saturated with the sales of the album, in any case given that a few singles have already been released its likely the album will seem a much more economical purchase to buy the new single with other appealing tracks and the potential chance of other album trks appealing rather than just buying the song on the single format. I mean come on the line up for the sugababes has changed to a point beyond credibility - clearly the interchangebility of the members seems to have little relation on performance/appeal - imho they just a interchangable front for the team of talented writers and producers behind them - like many of StockAitkenWaterman "artists" in the 80's - how likely would Kylie have had the same career if 'Kylie' kept being played/replaced by other totally unrelated women (without the experience of the former, or even having the ability to learn from mistakes, change + grow of the original?)
February 13, 200817 yr So much better than Change but still a really bad choice for a single. Why are they determined to be classed as middle of the road? They need to release something edgy like My Love Is Pink or Never Gonna Dance Again.

What on earth did Kylie have to do with anything? I didn't see anyone requesting an essay extolling the virtues of the squawking budgie.
February 13, 200817 yr I think it will get top 10! heard it on Capital yesterday and they were loving it saying that it was really good- seems like they're behind it
February 13, 200817 yr a really bad choice for a single. Why are they determined to be classed as middle of the road? They need to release something edgy like My Love Is Pink or Never Gonna Dance Again. My thoughts exactly..... gone are the super-slick, futuristic pop hits of yore.... now.... hmm..Sugababes seem a bit bland and past it. This is so far reemoved from being a great song, it's painful to admit it's the once-wonderful Sugababes. Also, Ima's post about the line-up changes is spot on.
February 13, 200817 yr Russ, how can you possibly say the singles from the last 2 albums beat those off Change? Are you forgetting Ugly, that disgusting dark spot on the girls' career? Denial is pretty brilliant pop, really. It's not totally instant but once it grabs you, you're in! Agreed, Ugly was pretty appalling - but compare any of the 3 singles they've released these past few months with 90% of their other singles - Push The Button, Overload, Freak Like Me etc..... they really seem to be on a rapid downward creative slope. They've lost their edginess. Denial is.. hmm... it's ok.... but for a band in their position, with their track record... 'ok' just aint enough - they should be employing the most cutting-edge, hip and current writers and producers and carrying on that pretty fabulous pop career they had before this album, where it seems their pop edge has been neutered and watered down - it's a bit more 'pap' than 'pop' for them of late. Perhaps losing Mutya was the final nail - although, saying that - their version of I Bet You Loook Good On The Dancefloor was incredible, just after she left - totally wasted on a b-side and the last time the girls seemed to take any chances musically. I've said this before - but whilst Siobhan Donaghy is making downright awesome stuff like her last album - her old bandmates really need to pull their fingers out.
February 13, 200817 yr Top 10. Possibly top 5. Everyone who says they're past it are completely talking out of their arses. They've just had their most succesful single ever. How are they past it? But I get what y'all are doing. You can't support anyone who's remotely succesful. You just like to bring them down.
February 13, 200817 yr They've just had their most successful single ever. I don't recall it being anywhere near their most successful single ever. Infact if anything it did much worse than anyone expected.
February 13, 200817 yr I don't recall it being anywhere near their most successful single ever. Infact if anything it did much worse than anyone expected. that's exactly what I thought - I suggest the person who thinks either of the past 2 Sugababes singles have been their 'most successful ever' consults some of the online sales sites....

Either of the past two? About You Now is officially their biggest-seller EVER, passing the sales of Push The Button at nearly 400k.

I suggest the person that doesn't think that 'About You Now' was their biggest selling single ever get their facts straight.
February 13, 200817 yr Either of the past two? About You Now is officially their biggest-seller EVER, passing the sales of Push The Button at nearly 400k. yep, you're right - the pile of plop that is About You Now has now, as of 3rd February, outsold Push The Button by 6,000 copies. Bizarre. Then again, the positively vile Basshunter is number one... and people continue to buy vomit like Cascada.... nowt so strange as folk.

Just because you don't like these songs doesn't mean their vomit  Its not all down to your taste, be glad people are still buying music.
February 13, 200817 yr About You Now easily ranks above Push The Button. For all that song's genius simple effectiveness, it wasn't as good a pop song as AYN is.
February 13, 200817 yr Just because you don't like these songs doesn't mean their vomit  Its not all down to your taste, be glad people are still buying music. Calling Cascada vomit is being a tad too kind, agreed ;) And even at the furthest stretches of my imagination.... I've never considered Cascada as music, either, so I'm not glad people are buying this stuff..... I'd rather the folk who buy Cascada and Basshunter records go out and use the money to either buy ear-wax removal drops or, preferably, balaclavas, to protect them from the unbridled shame of it all.
February 14, 200817 yr im sorry but this has to be THE best 'Babes video of their careers so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the single is so good, its probably one of the 5 best tracks from the album, i love the girls so so much!!!!!!! sorry, way too excited, but i think it will be lucky to get top 20, but i would love to see this top 10 in a quiet week!!!!
