February 21, 200817 yr I hope she climbs as it'll be reassuring (as a GA fan) that performances DO actually help single sales. I'm sure the daytime performances are a waste of time. I think it probably depends on the performance or the show really. On Children In Need Kylie performed '2 Hearts' and the Spice Girls mimed 'Headlines' and neither of them gained from the performances. But as we already know when Kylie performed 'Wow' on the X Factor it's managed to stay in the top 75 non-stop since then. Some people would also say that the X Factor performance kept 'Bleeding Love' at number 1 for a long time, I don't agree with that, but it's their opinion. Personally I think her performance was quite average last night because it's a song that you have to mime parts of. She sang half of it but there were times where she was miming and others where she wasn't even pretending to sing. (the lyrics played but she didn't have the microphone near her mouth) However I think the performance was quite good so it will probably rise.
February 21, 200817 yr I think that the X Factor performance of Bleeding Love certainly helped it towards its 200k+ first week sale...many people hadn't heard the song before that performance
February 21, 200817 yr I think that the X Factor performance of Bleeding Love certainly helped it towards its 200k+ first week sale...many people hadn't heard the song before that performance Oh, I'm certain that it will have helped towards it but it didn't have that much of an advantage over other performances such as 'Breathless', 'Call The Shots', 'Wow' etc. although I have to say, I think they were only available on downloads, or not even that, at the time and Leona was released physically that Monday. (or was it a Sunday release?) I just find it silly for people to say that she was number 1 for seven weeks because of that one performance.
February 21, 200817 yr Yes i agree Adi_gallia (sorry i hate to do that as its so impersonal). I mean when GA used to mime on paul o'grady, you do sort of think, what was the point really? Going out to 500k housewives and 500k pensioners. But! When they did amazing performances of WMU (totp), SKO (ant and dec) and CTS (x-factor) - i think they really kick start something. I think leonas x-factor performance did a lot for her single too as it was amazing. I'd like to see kylie climb tomorrow, if she falls, i'll be disheartened.
February 21, 200817 yr Of course i do, i could probably tell you what each of them was wearing on the night even though i havent watched it for months. It was still an amazing performance. All i meant was that miming on a programme like loose women or this morning is pointless in my opinion. I love to see them do it like but i dont think it does anything for sales.
February 21, 200817 yr I guess it depends on the single. Paul O Grady, i think is good promo becuase kids watch it after school and so do mums, and nans. But Loose Women is a good programme to go on for Call the Shots and Can't Speak French, but probably not for something like Sexy! No No No. Promo is getting the right appeal for the song. But (stealing from Tescos) every little helps
February 22, 200817 yr all im saying is The Weekend has started - H2O sales will improve, whether they get number 1 or not it will be close!
February 22, 200817 yr WOOOWWW for Mark Ronson...in iTunes: * Valerie #28 up from 39 * Just #55 up from 64 * Stop Me 72 RE-ENTER
February 22, 200817 yr all im saying is The Weekend has started - H2O sales will improve, whether they get number 1 or not it will be close! won't make much difference...its half term so the kids have been buying it all week. you might get a few clubbers buying it on Saturday though... I can't see them getting anywhere near No.1...I think they will finish on 40k with Duffy ending on about 50k
February 22, 200817 yr Oh, I'm certain that it will have helped towards it but it didn't have that much of an advantage over other performances such as 'Breathless', 'Call The Shots', 'Wow' etc. although I have to say, I think they were only available on downloads, or not even that, at the time and Leona was released physically that Monday. (or was it a Sunday release?) I just find it silly for people to say that she was number 1 for seven weeks because of that one performance. I think it would have easily been a No.1 single anyway but the fact is that she performed on the first live show and completely blew the 2007 contestants off the stage...not only did it make everyone realise how amazing Leona was but also how substandard Leon and the rest of them were in comparison
February 22, 200817 yr I hope we will have some 'out of top40' infos today, should be very interesting ^_^ Oh, and Kylie top #3 please
February 22, 200817 yr I think it just gives the kids the chance to get their cd's early in the week rather than weekend. Thats why kylie was no1 on physicals on monday.
February 22, 200817 yr Author Unfortunately we might not get one today, my MW account is playing up, for some odd reason. If anyone else can help out, it will be appreciated, if the charts can be sent via PM to me/ManicK or a chart mod. Please do not post the full chart on here. Thank you.
