Keegan is the worst manager in the league, by far.

Edited by Alias

He needs to do something fast or they are in BIG trouble, Newcastle need to learn that managers need time and the fact they're nosediving towards the relegation zone really is going to test their patience :o

Brilliant win for us though, now all we need is another slip up from Arsenal  While not slipping up again ourselves that is

Newcastle are AWFUL. Even Mourinho, Ferguson and Wenger together couldn't make that defense play well.

To any Newcastle fans; good luck against Swansea next year!

I thinlk Keegan only went there for the money but as a Sunderland supporter I think he's doing a grand job. :D

I don't think he needs the money. I think he went to satisfy his ego. He thinks he's the only one who "understands Newcastle".

Great job Devils!!!

To those taking the p*** out of Newcastle it really would not be good for the premiership if they went down

Love them or hate them they are a MASSIVE club and it would devalue the premiership to lose such a giant when there is mickey mouse dross like Wigan, Reading, Fulham, Derby and other such clubs cluttering up the premiership

I hope Newcastle stay up

But it does well for the competitiveness and the fact that anything can happen in football! Seven years ago we wouldn't have thought that Leeds would be in the third tier would you? Come on! Even we've been relegated a few times :P Seven years after winning the European Cup too!

Plus Newcastle aren't as big as they think they are so maybe it'd give them a good kick in the bollocks :)

 exactly what makes them MASSIVE

Support, fan base, top players playing for them in recent years like Shearer, Owen, Asprilla and so on, they are globally known

Losing a club with the giant fanbase of Newcastle and having them replaced by say Bristol City or Plymouth for example will not be good for the Premiership

They are big in terms of fanbase

I would say overseas only Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal are better known, in Malaysia I saw more Newcastle stuff on sale than I did Chelsea or Spurs even in the Petaling Sq markets and so on, Newcastle are a massive club even if they are not prolific trophy winners

I regularly saw them sell out the Park Lane end at Spurs v Newcastle games and given the distance to Spurs that is massive support so they are a team that I respect

If you are basing the size of a club on away support then Sunderland should also be regarded as a MASSIVE club. I bet there weren't any empty seats at White Hart Lane when Sunderland came to town. :cheer:

Well done Woodgate. I hope Tottenham hold out now to lift the trophy. :cheer:

Just because they have a large fanbase and are well known throughout the world does NOT mean that they deserve to be in the Premier League. As a Forest fan I know about this, we're bigger than a League 1 club but we;re down here because we deserve to be. If Newcastle go down they'll deserve to go down because they have a rubbish squad built through years of no better than average managers.

If they went down the only thing the Premier League would miss are their hilarious attempts at 'defending'!

And also, any club that employs a manager that himself admitted hadn't seen a football match for two years does NOT deserve any success!

I disagree.

I think it would be GREAT for the Premiership if a big club like Newcastle gets relegated, because it would show the league is not that easy and offer evidence that money and a large fanbase does not always equate to success. So far from devaluing the Premiershp, it would do the very opposite IMHO.

Or maybe you would rather have the farce that you get with American Sports where it is competitively a closed shop with no promotion or relegation and all about "brand", "advertising revenues" and "marketing opportunities"?

I agree with both of you. Leeds are another club with huge support but they too are not in the Premier League because they're not good enough.

However, I'm sure VV wasn't trying to suggest the Premier League should be a closed shop. At least I hope not. I'm still clinging to hope that Brighton might get there when we've got a proper ground

I disagree.

Not at all, everyone loves a fairytale, I am old enough to remember Graham Taylor taking Watford from the old Div 4 up to what is now the Premiership, I loved seeing Harry Bassett take Wimbledon from non league football to the very top flight, football thrives on those sort of things but I don't think football is a winner when a club like Newcastle gets relegated

Others have given examples of Leeds and Nottm Forest but in both cases their hard times were due to financial mismanagement by the chairman whereas Newcastle's decline would be purely a footballing matter, I think it would be a sad day if Newcastle went down

Surely they won't get rid of him until at least the end of the season? I can't see them going down though, i should imagine they'll pick up a few sneaky wins whilst still playing poorly and end up around 13th.
