But Jark how many watchers care about Gus? He's been given bugger all to do for the last several years apart from push a broom around and then ... just because he's leaving ... the writers decide to give him (what they think is) a good send-off.

I long for the days of Michelle ... but doubtless if the writers bring her back ... they'll have her come back with about 17 kids from as many different fathers! Thank heavens Susan Tully is a woman of integrity, having gone on to bigger and better things.

EE was brilliant in its early days and even a good few years into it. But if you think it is incredible now ... then you'd have been blown away by it in its glory years.

Susan Tully used to direct the odd Eastenders episode

And Gus's character is to be written out, I guess this is his swansong story

Yes she did ... quite some time ago... But I've been more impressed with her direction of several episodes of the absolutely fantastic 'Drop Dead Gorgeous'.

Im an eastenders fan for almost 20 years the show was brilliant years ago but its gripping in a different way now, shows change and develop and sometimes repeat stories but arent most programmes like that, corrie is a prime example i know some people still find it great but corrie was brilliant years ago to me its lost its way completly but its still keeping the fans happy,

eastenders has its own fans and there are still some brilliant charactors coming and going in the show, the slaters were brilliant and stacey and tanya are just 2 example of brilliant charactors on the show,

true, ee and corrie have 'fans' thatll watch it regardless, its a habit. they follow it with an almost religious zeal... i was big into ee in the 'den and angie' years when it was fresh and full of contraversial strong characters. for me all i see in ee now (when i catch it) are re-hashes of old characters, old storylines and incredible plots. i guess 'new' viewers find this new.... fair do's. peggy for eg is practically a parody of herself, so is dot cotton... they are becoming their impressionist version of themselves. many characters...like gus... (amongst many others) you just dont care about, unlike the 80's cast who you either loved, hated, cared about or love to hate.

Gus' first storyline is his exit

So Very True,

Awww. Gus only isn't a favourite because he's never had a storyline with any meat. :( I love his girlfriend! She's fabulous!

And I don't agree at all that EE is made up mostly of characters the viewer doesn't care about. Right now there are loads of characters who are all strong favourites with viewers - the Mitchells (the brilliant Ronnie and Roxy re-invigorated them), the Beales, Tanya and Jack, Sean and Stacey, to name but a few. There's also the real potential to develop some of the more recent additions to the cast, especially the fabulous Shabnam. EE is just great right now.

i dont agree.... they are boring, dull, unlikeable... but i think we will just have to agree to differ on this. :)

OMG! Sean was so sexy this morning, I was hoping his trousers were gonna be lowered.

But he did the $h!t to Gus. Oh well, Gus is a pointless character.

Exactly, who cares what he does to Gus, he's a bore!

Sean should be topless more often.

i enjoyed the sean and gus thing tonight but i didnt expect sean to bed his girlfriend i didnt know that was going to happen but i felt sorry for gus
Oh, Sean definitely has his moments. :teresa: I'm not sure he compares with some of the finer buffity around the square though, such as Shabnam's man  The show is rather lacking HOT MALES at the moment though, given the amount of gorgeous women!
