I love lift me up the melody and music are beautiful, could definitely see it as a spice girls ballad with some change to the lyrics so it wasn’t quite as cheesy (then again mama says hi).

Also I always appreciated her use of sign language for the promo, it was a big deal for a young deaf boy (who signed viva forever in his entry to the school talent show)! I remain very fond of the song to this day and actually I run a sign language club at the school I teach at and we sign lots of songs.

Yes. The use of sign language was definitely a nice thing to do, knowing the Spice Girls had also many fans with hearing impairment - they even used it in some of their concerts. That’s something to be proud of.

And - sorry to say this - it helped Geri to find a way to communicate through her body that wasn’t necessarily a proper dance routine. I always felt that she suffered from an Italian-gesture paralysis, when her hands were moving all over the place with no apparent reason. It’s something that you study in theatre related to body and space - but she actually learnt it thanks to sign language.

It’s a pity she didn’t try to make it fully hers, perhaps embracing it in all performances and supporting the cause publicly as she did with breast cancer. But I’m definitely asking too much!

Wow. That was both rude to Geri and insulting to those of Italian descent at the same time. :nono:

The irony is that it's in reference to a song called "Lift Me Up".

Is there a world we know /

LIFT ME AAAAAOUUUUPPPPPPPPP!

It doesn’t sound anywhere near as dramatic as you make it sound.

They're just angry about Gerita's beautiful rich vocals and the fact that she's an experimental vocalist that takes chances instead of staying safe. :music:

Most of Geri's singles sound like, with a little rewoeking, rjey could be aSpicy Girls songs! Shizophobic sounds like what the third album would have been! Even Scream... sounds like a Spicy song! It judt misses the spice of the other 4.

Nel mio corpo scorre sangue italiano (half Italian and half Tunisian).

Italian gestures are actually needed in Italy to make sure people using different regional variants / minority language can understand each other. It’s something that happened.

It wasn’t my intention to offend my Nonna.

The thing is: Geri’s body language showed insecurity and lack of awareness of her own space on stage. The sign language helped her to use her hands to communicate in a more effective way - even for the ones who can hear.

PS: English isn’t my first language.

Is it me?

Am I the drama?

I don't think I'm the drama...

But, you do you, boo.

Do you have any exanple videos of her insecure body languange??

There are plenty of occasions. This one has her hands showing insecurity. It’s like she’s not sure what to do with them.

She’s a hugely insecure performer when live.

When she’s miming, she goes for it much more because she doesn’t have her vocals to think of!

Interview with the Telegraph (Christian, about Geri) but it's behind a paywall: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/formula-1/2023/...ll-home-family/

Here's something from it reported by Express:

Christian Horner revealed that he was publicly humiliated in front of a group of key players in the motor racing industry, when he went to give his now wife Geri Halliwell a kiss - and was rebuffed. The 49-year-old F1 star was left red-faced - but in spite of the apparent rejection, the pair soon went on to fall for each other.

"[Geri]was a guest of Bernie Ecclestone's in Monaco one year and came down the pit lane," he explained to the Telegraph of the fateful moment.

"She gave Ron a kiss on the cheek, and she gave Eddie a kiss on the cheek, so I thought, 'OK, I'm on for a kiss on the cheek here!'" an embarrassed Christian continued.

However, he was in for an unpleasant surprise, adding: "I went to give her one and she shoved her hand out at me!"

and The Sun:

CHRISITAN HORNER has revealed he did not marry Geri Halliwell because she was a Spice Girl.

The Red Bull team principal insisted that he married the singer because he "loved her".

They got together in 2014 and married in 2015, however, some thought that the relationship would not last, but Horner insists that they "complement each other well".

He told The Telegraph: "You know, life works in mysterious ways.

"I didn't marry Geri because she's a Spice Girl.

"I married her because I fell in love with her.

"It will be 10 years this time next year and we've been happily married for seven.

"We're very different characters but we complement each other well.

"Geri is a force of nature."

Horner is used to being in the limelight with the success on the track of F1, but was shocked when the Spice Girls announced their reunion tour in 2019.

He added: "Wow, it blew my mind.

"Suddenly you realise the power of that brand.

"They sold out 13 stadiums in five minutes, and that included three nights at Wembley – they could have done another two nights, easy."

Can Geri do something like Louise Redknapp Greatest hits and release something new with a greatest hits

Edited by Blond 2.0

Honestly, probably with the right song. But she needs to commit to it, not hide away like the last few times.
Oh if only, but it doesn’t seem like she’d ever want to revisit her music beyond some Instagram posts. To shine a spotlight on it with a GH? I can’t see it sadly.

She could easily have a Greatest Hits, or a Collection but she clearly has no desire to promote one.

Honestly if she just signed a deal with someone like BMG then she could easily replicate Emma's My Happy Place type success with a multi-format, she has an album ready (a few by the sounds of it) just take it to them and sign a publishing deal like Emma. Sadly she is too "success" orientated and once she deems something not successful she packs it in ala Passion, Angels in chains, Rainbow Woman etc.

Funnily enough all of the girls could have reasonably successful careers by todays standards, they have the fans to buy into the multi-format approach for first week peak, which is clearly enough for a lot of record labels now if they don't have to invest in the making of the album. The majority of them just don't care enough to do it.

Well, Parlophone did release a "Playlist" in 2016, but unfortunately it's digital-only. I wonder why they never bothered to toss out a physical as lesser acts have cheaper supermarket "collections" out there - I'm guessing Gerita is blocking it?

I think she was working towards some kind of hew music release with the Rainbow Woman project but it didn't have the impact to lead to a music release that she or the team hoped for.

I think she's how done with solo music sadly which I find beyond sad however its her life. She has her children's books and the Gran Turismo film coming out this year so she'll be busy.
