March 23, 200817 yr Like Mariah? ERR AT LEAST Mariah has stuck to her roots ever since she started out in the buisness, Madonna is so fake and un-real it's unbelievable. At least Mariah dosn't have to pretend to be someone each time she releases an album.

At least Mariah dosn't have to pretend to be someone each time she releases an album. I can't agree with this. When I heard Mariah's last album, what I heard was Mariah just attempting this fake ghetto thing in the most cringeworthy of ways.
March 23, 200817 yr I can't agree with this. When I heard Mariah's last album, what I heard was Mariah just attempting this fake ghetto thing in the most cringeworthy of ways. Ok, forgetting the current 'Mimi' faze, but what I'm saying is that Mariah's kept to her RnB influenced roots, yet Madonna just "acts out the music". Thats basically the reason why I can't stand Madonna..
March 23, 200817 yr Ok, forgetting the current 'Mimi' faze, but what I'm saying is that Mariah's kept to her RnB influenced roots, yet Madonna just "acts out the music". Thats basically the reason why I can't stand Madonna.. I usually respect Madonna for releasing something where there was a gap in the market (kind of like she did with the Confessions album, there weren't many artists at that time doing dance-pop like that and being successful with it. I like that she was trying to push it forward in a market that was heavily dominated with R&B/hip-hop at the time). This time however I can't defend her. She totally jumped on the biggest bandwagon going with this Timbaland jargon, it made me lost a whole chunk of respect for her.
March 23, 200817 yr Madonna has jumped on the Timbaland bandwagon a tad, but if its this good who cares? I do miss old groundbreaking Madonna though. She is usually so different, but this time its not.
March 23, 200817 yr Has she ever really been THAT groundbreaking though? I mean she's obviously been popular, but her ''re-inventions'' are hardly her own work, rather she just copies someone who achieved it less succesfully years before, and because she's so high profile people are all ''Omg ShE's a ReVoluTIOniseR!'' One thing she has is brains, i'll give her that. She's able to see a niche and exploit it, but a groundbreaker she certainly she is not. And the only thing she's resposnsible for in the music industry is the over-sexual nature of female artists - something which is now percieved a problem that plagues all charts. [/rant]
March 23, 200817 yr And hello? Madonna can't do nothing on her own two feet? Ofcourse...Mariah's had every rapper scream and screatch on her asthmatic vocals hasn't she! Since when has she been so original?
March 23, 200817 yr Mariah <33  Madonna was groundbreaking from about 1990-1998. Everything after the "Ray Of Light" era hasnt been superb.
March 23, 200817 yr It will be this months Rihanna - Dont Stop The Music... Peak WAY TOO EARLY on Downloads and will actually stall at number 2 or 3 on Physical Release!
March 23, 200817 yr Probably #1... only 'cause it's Madonna's comeback single and Justin sings for like half of the song or even more.
March 23, 200817 yr Well Madonna is down to #3 now on iTunes, behind Duffy who has now been out for Gawd knows how long... The video will change that I imagine. As for this whole Mariah thing - Mariah has had heavy R&B influences since Daydream, initially when she used ODB in Fantasy, so the old game of "God Mariah has changed to R&B" is rubbish, she's been R&B for quite the while now. She's always been dicing between R&B and Pop. Touch My Body is pure pop, Migrate is R&B. Even some of her tracks on her debut are R&B so I do wish people would do their research before making misinformed statements about Mariah being a bandwagon jumping. Mariah did the whole soulful R&B early in her career and she's progressed with the times and updated her sound.
March 23, 200817 yr Oh and Madonna's Guy please do realise that people have their own opinions and can dislike this track and or Madonna if they do so wish. It's rather petty watching you childishly pick at other peoples favourite artists just because they dislike yours, still this is old territory. I hear on the Management grapevine that you've already been warned about this by Jester, so do keep it clean.

One thing she has is brains, i'll give her that. She's able to see a niche and exploit it, but a groundbreaker she certainly she is not. big point there. madonna is usually more state of the art than groundbreaking. as for the niche exploiting...it's only half true take the production on Ray Of Light...it is shockingly similar to Dannii Minogue's Girl period, which came out 1 full year earlier. If EVEN dannii had got there, with some hindsight you could assume that the william orbit touch wasnt that up and coming even then. to madonna's credit in retrospect what made ray of light outstanding was not the cheesy euro-tronica/cafe del mar production but the actual songwriting and conviction. not only is 4 Minutes pretty poor in production and non existant in songwriting, madonna's voice has never sounded so lifeless and flat. and that's something that even madonna's guy won't be able to deny in years to come, will he? :) Edited March 23, 200817 yr by Twisted Tender
March 23, 200817 yr When the news first broke last year that Madonna would be working with Timbaland on her new album I thought it sounded like a disaster waiting to happen. So I for one am pleasantly surprised by "4 Minutes". It's much better than I was expecting. I really like it! I don't think it has a chance of getting to No.1 with the physical release so far off. I think it will be lucky if it goes Top 3.
