Posted March 26, 200817 yr ... records etc for your old charts or not? Like chart runs, weekly sales etc? I did a chart history for my first like 4 charts and then got bored LOL. I've been meaning to do a chart run archive for a while but I've never got round to it. I imagine that when it comes to a few years and I want to find out how well a song did I'll regret not doing it haha.
March 26, 200817 yr Yeah i have an Excel spreadsheet called "Runs" which is chart runs since Chart #1 and has over 800 songs in it
March 26, 200817 yr Yeah i have an Excel spreadsheet called "Runs" which is chart runs since Chart #1 and has over 800 songs in it  I had exactly the same thing... on the PC. I completely forgot to transfer it over onto my laptop, and i've been too lazy to start it again :( Planning on getting mine sorted in the next week or so
March 26, 200817 yr Yeh I keep all my histories in a thread on here each time a song drops out I add to it
March 26, 200817 yr I have a word doc with just about 80 pages of my charts LOL. Also I have 3 word docs with each no.1, no.2 and no.3 on :). I'm quite cool
March 26, 200817 yr can you even imagine that i have charts from 2003 to the beginning of 2007 (204 issues) in the written format on papers ?? :o  i did 30 first charts in my computer already.. LOL and now there're only word documents i make charts in. i wanted to do records for my old charts such as chart runs but it's not gonna happen in the nearest future i suppose.. ^_^
March 26, 200817 yr Yep. I have an Excel Spreadsheet with all my chart runs and sales next to them. I started it so I could keep track of my favourite track of my chart history, but then I decided to add another sheet starting from the first chart which ran into 2008 so I could prepare early for my end of year chart. I used to work out what was better by doing a point system (one week at #1 = 40 Points, #2 = 39 Points etc.) but I decided that it would be more fun for me to make up sales for each week because I might find a song that is #1 by a larger amount, much like 'Bleeding Love' was in the actual charts last year. This way a really popular song can be #1 for one week and could do better than a song that was #1 for two weeks because I liked it more that week. The only problem I can see with doing my end of year chart is that songs that are still in my chart at the time will probably be at a disadvantage.
March 29, 200817 yr Two words Archive Forum Duly noted :P Can anyone guess what I've been doing all day? Certainly beats essay writing :D
March 29, 200817 yr I have them written in books, dating back to 1999 when it was just a top 5! In 2004 I made it a top 10 and then in 2005 it went to a top 20...I changed it to a top 50 last year...I'm not extending it any further than that
May 18, 200817 yr I have an Excel spreadsheet with entry week, peak and number of weeks (overall, in top 10, 5, 3, #1) for every song that ever was in my chart since 1994. That's almost 4000 songs now.
May 24, 200817 yr I use an excel spreadsheet to compile my chart, because its easy as all you have to do is cut and paste, except when you copy it over here it makes it look jumbled a bit but it definately saves a lot of time. I keep an archive of all the songs that have dropped out, and the adding up points for all the charting songs with this system: 1 1500 2 1200 3 1000 4 800 5 700 6 650 7 600 8 550 9 520 10 490 11 475 12 460 13 450 14 440 15 430 16 420 17 410 18 400 19 390 20 380 21 370 22 362 23 354 24 346 25 338 26 330 27 322 28 314 29 306 30 298 31 290 32 282 33 274 34 266 35 258 36 250 37 245 38 240 39 235 40 230 41 225 42 220 43 215 44 210 45 205 46 200 47 195 48 190 49 185 50 180 51 175 52 172 53 169 54 166 55 163 56 160 57 157 58 154 59 151 60 148 61 145 62 142 63 139 64 136 65 133 66 130 67 127 68 124 69 121 70 118 71 115 72 112 73 109 74 106 75 103 I wish there was a formula to work it out on excel, but i can't substitute one number (eg. 73) for another (109, which is its point value) and add it to a total score, but i don't know how to, so i just use a calculator instead, and it takes about 1 hour 30 every chart i do. If i could do that then all i need to do is enter the formula once then drag the formula down to apply to all cells. Yes im a chart nerd   And if anyone does a point system for 1= 40 pts, 2= 39pts, 40= 1pt, then i think its possible to make a formula. Edited May 24, 200817 yr by Harve
May 29, 200817 yr I do use a formula for this kind of point system, although it is a bit complicated. I don't know how the function is called in english, in german it's "zählenwenn" (~count if). For the linear system (#1-40 / 40-1 points) a formula is really easy to make...
