... records etc for your old charts or not? Like chart runs, weekly sales etc?

I did a chart history for my first like 4 charts and then got bored LOL. I've been meaning to do a chart run archive for a while but I've never got round to it. I imagine that when it comes to a few years and I want to find out how well a song did I'll regret not doing it haha.

I had exactly the same thing... on the PC. I completely forgot to transfer it over onto my laptop, and i've been too lazy to start it again :(

Planning on getting mine sorted in the next week or so

Yeh I keep all my histories in a thread on here each time a song drops out I add to it

I have a word doc with just about 80 pages of my charts LOL.

Also I have 3 word docs with each no.1, no.2 and no.3 on :). I'm quite cool

can you even imagine that i have charts from 2003 to the beginning of 2007 (204 issues) in the written format on papers ?? :o

i did 30 first charts in my computer already.. LOL

and now there're only word documents i make charts in.

i wanted to do records for my old charts such as chart runs but it's not gonna happen in the nearest future i suppose.. ^_^

Yep. I have an Excel Spreadsheet with all my chart runs and sales next to them. I started it so I could keep track of my favourite track of my chart history, but then I decided to add another sheet starting from the first chart which ran into 2008 so I could prepare early for my end of year chart.

I used to work out what was better by doing a point system (one week at #1 = 40 Points, #2 = 39 Points etc.) but I decided that it would be more fun for me to make up sales for each week because I might find a song that is #1 by a larger amount, much like 'Bleeding Love' was in the actual charts last year. This way a really popular song can be #1 for one week and could do better than a song that was #1 for two weeks because I liked it more that week.

The only problem I can see with doing my end of year chart is that songs that are still in my chart at the time will probably be at a disadvantage.

Two words

Duly noted :P Can anyone guess what I've been doing all day? Certainly beats essay writing :D

I have them written in books, dating back to 1999 when it was just a top 5! In 2004 I made it a top 10 and then in 2005 it went to a top 20...I changed it to a top 50 last year...I'm not extending it any further than that

I have an Excel spreadsheet with entry week, peak and number of weeks (overall, in top 10, 5, 3, #1) for every song that ever was in my chart since 1994. That's almost 4000 songs now.

I use an excel spreadsheet to compile my chart, because its easy as all you have to do is cut and paste, except when you copy it over here it makes it look jumbled a bit but it definately saves a lot of time.

I keep an archive of all the songs that have dropped out, and the adding up points for all the charting songs with this system:

I wish there was a formula to work it out on excel, but i can't substitute one number (eg. 73) for another (109, which is its point value) and add it to a total score, but i don't know how to, so i just use a calculator instead, and it takes about 1 hour 30 every chart i do. If i could do that then all i need to do is enter the formula once then drag the formula down to apply to all cells.

Yes im a chart nerd

And if anyone does a point system for 1= 40 pts, 2= 39pts, 40= 1pt, then i think its possible to make a formula.

I do use a formula for this kind of point system, although it is a bit complicated. I don't know how the function is called in english, in german it's "zählenwenn" (~count if).

For the linear system (#1-40 / 40-1 points) a formula is really easy to make...
