I did The MAnchester City 10km last Sunday and did my best time for 2 years!!!

congrats! :D

Hopefully I can follow up with the same :D 1:06:56 to beat.

I need new trainers soon, I fancy getting specially fitted ones, but I don't know if I could be bothered to stand around doing tests  Probably bebest too though. My 1st trainers gave me shin splints, but these old worn in 2nd pair have saved me

1:08:05, not as good as I was hoping, but the awfully tense and painful shoulder struck at 3K, and had to walk it off for a while. Tried running with 1 arm swinging but that made it worse  Sort of blew my mental focus out of the water by then, and found it hard to get my groove back. Walked through the Stadium of Light afterwards, bigger than it looks on TV

Never mind! Boro 10K will be my next run 2 weeks before the Great North Run.

not too bad a time

I did 1hr 4mins 55 secs ........ still a long way from my 58 minutes ....... next official 10km 13th Sept a week before the GNR.

have 9 weeks to get that time below an hour ...... then I have a chance with a North Run time of less than 2hr 25min

I inspected my running trainers this morning as they're better to wear for work, and I noticed a huge split down the side of my right one. No wonder I got a little stone in there

I'm going to try more interval training soon. Do 400m stop for a minute, and run another 400m. Then pick up the distances through the weeks.

I'm aiming for 2h 30m at the moment for the GNR, but I may change that depending on how well my 10K goes before it.

i did about 2.5miles last night. it was my first run for like a month.

I aim to get back into the swings. Supposedly i have running genes so, if i pull my act together hopefully i can use runnin to get me into uni in America in 2years time on a full scholarship B)

do you sprint or are you a distance runner

I did 1hr 3min59s on sunday ....... getting better :yahoo:

i haven't a clue.

I'm a distance swimmer, that much i know.

My little sister went to soe youth world championship thing in Italy the other week for Track, and my parents both did track. So i'm presuming i have sprint genes, but my little sister started off doing cross country and kinda like owned. She was like scottish champ for a long time.

I'm actually more of a sprinter myself. I have really fast initial speed.

Probabl;y why I struggle over long distances. Not really designed as much for them  Lord knows how my little leggies will make it through the Great North! At least I'll be able to sprint to the finish line :heehee:

I did 1hr 3 in the Boro 10K the other weekend which is about 6.2 miles too :D

You may see me sliding backwards through the pack after about 7-8 miles  in my bright yellow running trainers

I have a green number too :cheer: So noone gets a head start really :P

I finished!!!

2hours 30minutes 45 seconds

slower than I hoped, but it was very warm! I do have a rather 'attractive' photo of myself with Brendan Foster at the finish!!

Kept peering round the green pen wondering if I was stood near the Matt Aloud lol

Congratulations! :D What I was hoping for!

But the Matt Aloud did finish 8 minutes later :D

2 hours 38 minutes 35 seconds.

Got to 8.5 miles exactly and crumbled away  Managed to pick myself up before the Bupa Boost Zone, and got to mile 11, before having a 2nd mini breakdown  Ran the last mile and a bit as I ran the first 8.5 though, nice and steady :cheer:

And if you saw these yellow beasts - http://twitpic.com/g503n in the green pen you saw THE Matt Aloud  I was hiding near the back of Zone I .

I 'wobbled' between 3 and 4 miles but then a nice fireman hosed me down and I was revived.

Have to confess to singing on way through the Boost Zone - they should have had more of those!!!

The long run through the estate between 11 & 12 miles is a killer

I was nearer the front of the green zone - naughtily climbed the fence as was almost late :naughty:

I crossed the line just as the red arrows were drawing a heart in the sky

How did shins cope? Not set off splints again? What are you running next?

I am doing a 9 mile trail run at Conniston in a few weeks ....... am thinking not my best idea!
