Posted April 1, 200817 yr We all remember pre 2006, when downloads could only count to the top 40, if there was also a physical copy available too. If that was the rule today, what would the top 40, look like at this very moment in time? That is NOW exactly, to the minute. No holds barred here is that chart (but remember downloads, without a physical are not allowed in this chart, at all). As of 17th April 2008, 5pm 01 01 ESTELLE 02 02 SAM SPARRO 03 03 FLO RIDA 04 NE SEPTEMBER 05 05 DUFFY 06 04 MARIAH CAREY 07 06 KOOKS 08 NE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS 09 08 CHRIS BROWN 10 10 ALPHABEAT 11 07 LEONA LEWIS 12 16 SCOUTING FOR GIRLS 13 NE BRITNEY SPEARS 14 11 NICKELBACK 15 14 UTAH SAINTS 16 09 BLACK KIDS 17 12 STOP AND STARE 18 NE GOLDFRAPP 19 15 GIRLS ALOUD 20 13 FRAGMA 21 17 NATASHA BEDINGFIELD 22 18 H TWO O 23 21 TAIO CRUZ 24 20 BASSHUNTER 25 23 PANIC AT THE DISCO 26 22 RIHANNA 27 NE KANYE WEST 28 25 SUGABABES 29 19 ELLIOT MINOR 30 36 GABRIELLA CILMI 31 29 SOULJA BOY 32 27 CHASING PAVEMENTS 33 24 COURTEENERS 34 28 SCREAM 35 26 SNOOP DOGG 36 30 APOLOGIZE 37 RE MGMT 38 32 WORK 39 34 PIECE OF ME 40 31 T-PAIN There are 5 download onlys in the top 40, so far at this point. Madonna is definately number 1, Usher in the top 10 at 6, Will i Am, Cahill, in the top 40. Other downloads in the combined top 50 are FALL OUT BOY, NELLY, TATOO - JORDIN SPARKS. It looks like ELVIS AIN`T DEAD is trying to retake the combined top 50. Adele and Cold Shoulder is in the top 60, along with the Hoosiers, and Kylie, and Simple Plan glide into the top 70. April 1, 200817 yr Author Aren't these based on the midweeks? Further than that mids go to last night. This takes it further, into the very moment in question, (when I don`t make printing errors)
April 1, 200817 yr Thanks Dave :D Better than the other site ain`t it! Previously remember Trevs saying that MRIB did more than one singles chart, obviously one was physical, and one combined. What was the one published in the Sunday newspapers, until last year?

What was the one published in the Sunday newspapers, until last year? Oh that mrib chart in the papers, was a slight change, where downloads were once again not included, without a physical release, but rules differed where some songs were dropped because the swing to downloads may have been more than others i.e. originally Nickelback was not included because downloads out weighed the physical, far too much. And also, another example being Wet Wet Wet, would have been dropped because the physicals outweighed the download too much, I believe. Strange rules indeed. That version of their chart, is still available, but not printed in papers anymore. The chart I put up today, is something that is available to some radio stations, but the download onlys are not allowed to be included due to copyright.

So the sales of downloads/physical had to be half and half, like 50/50?
April 1, 200817 yr Author So the sales of downloads/physical had to be half and half, like 50/50? Yep, apparently fairer practice. I will find an example in a minute, and put it on to explain it.
April 1, 200817 yr Thanks Dave, all Scouting For Girls sound all the same to me, Heartbeat is beginning to sound like SSL
April 1, 200817 yr Author So the sales of downloads/physical had to be half and half, like 50/50? Here`s the example: 01 basshunter 02 nickelback 03 adele 04 piece of me 05 kelly rowland 06 rihanna 07 david jordan 08 piece of me 09 lupe fiasco - superstar 10 one night only 11 mark brown/sarah cracknell 12 elvis ain`t dead 13 elliot minor 14 soulja boy 15 take that 16 be mine - robyn 17 valerie 18 bleeding love 19 leon jackson 20 apologise On this chart from February, Wet Wet Wet, Morrisey, Mary j. Blige, and Jay Sean were not allowed in the top 20, the Wets, Morrisey and Jay Sean were apparently outweighed by Physical sales. Mary J. Blige was apparently selling more in downloads. No, I can`t understand it either! :) On that basis, Panic at the Disco, and Timbaland would not be allowed in the top 20, this week. Edited April 16, 200817 yr by davetaylor
April 3, 200817 yr Dave, was thinking are the download versions of Leona Lewis and Footsteps in the Sand included in the position of her current double A side?
April 3, 200817 yr Author Dave, was thinking are the download versions of Leona Lewis and Footsteps in the Sand included in the position of her current double A side? They are not, but it doesn`t affect the postion, at the moment. Even last weekend, Footsteps sold around 3,500, as a download on its own. Where as the double A side on it`s own pulled in around 17,000. Madonna (above it) sold 20, 623 on downloads alone. So, it looks like even when added together Leona, didn`t overtake her. Aside mrib, where she was added together, it pushed her to number 6, but on Sunday officially the 6,7,8 positions were quite close really. I think Chris Brown was on just over 16,000, while Nickelback, and Leona Lewis were not far apart at 17,000 a piece.

April 3, 200817 yr It looks like Trevs, will not be about at weekend, as he has tonsilitis. A downfall on us broadcasters. Hope Trevs gets better soon
April 8, 200817 yr Why is Adele`s "Hometown Glory", regurgitating in there? Ideas anybody?????? It was used on Skins last night
April 8, 200817 yr Updated Tues 8th Apr 2008, 5pm. Can you put the date of the chart in the first post as well as the title. Also, how do you calculate the chart?
April 8, 200817 yr Wow Gabriela Cilmi must be about #45 in the mids then :D . Its easy to figure out the mids, just add about 5 to its position at about #40, and 1/2 at about #10
