I know Girls Aloud have had 18 top 10 hits in a row, are they the only band to do so or has anyone else (bar westlife) had 18 or more top 10 hits (I dont mean people who have had a lot but missed out on the top 10 on one or more occasion)

Also, where can i find the top selling albums of this century. Its the top 20 in -particular I wish

Many Thanks

I know cliff richard and madonna have had a lot of consecutive top tens.

I'm not sure there are any other bands other than westlife though?

GA have had more top tens than any other girl band ever in the uk.

So Madonna has a string of 35 consecutive Top 10 hits

I meant in a row (no re-entries) or anything like just one song missing the top 10. even if they have had 40 in a row after. Its just bands or singers that have went top 10 with every song they have released (first time round) and who have released more than 16 songs
I think Kylie has had 15 in a row since spinning around. What about Boyzone? They had quite alot before they split.

Ronan Keating was entered in to the Guiness Book of records in 2004 for having the most consecutive top 10 hits including his hits with Boyzone, and as part of a collaboration. The record at the time was 30 consecutive hits, The run was broken with his last single "Iris".

Interesting to see westlifes first 6 singles all went no1, the last six features a number 8,4 and 3.

Westlife's first 7 singles all went straight in at number 1 and it would have been 11 if it hadn't been for Bob the Builder. In all Westlife's first 22 singles all made top 5, but their 23rd only made number 62.

Madonna, Take a Bow peaked outside the Top 10 which is silly as it is about the best song she has done. It was number one for weeks in the USA.

the 23rd you are talking about was "im already there" which was not a single, it was only downloaded after they performed on the x factor and does not count as an official single.

so all 23 of westlifes singles have made the top 5!! their latest single being "us against the world" which no promo made number 8# their only single not to make the top 5!!

westlife are the band with the most top singles in a row (top 5 also) since their debut release....

From Everyhit.com

Most Consecutive Top 10 Hits

Here, an artist must reach the Top 10 with every consecutive release. Re-entries are ignored; they can neither add to the tally nor be responsible for breaking a 'run'.

Madonna holds this record with 34 (from "Like A Virgin" in 1984 to "Secret" in 1994. The run was broken by "Take A Bow" which peaked at no. 16).

Top male artist is Cliff Richard with 23 (from "A Voice In The Wilderness" in 1960 to "The Minute You're Gone" in 1965. Run broken by "On My Word" which peaked at no. 12).

Two groups are still going strong in this respect; Westlife have 23 consecutive Top 10 hits Westlife (from "Swear It Again" in 1999 to "Us Against The World" in Mar 2008) and Oasis lag just one behind (from "Live Forever" in 1994 to "Let There Be Love" in 2005).

There is was an argument (from Beatles and Abba fans) that Oasis' run is broken after the fifth Top 10 hit ("Roll With It") by "Wibbling Rivalry: A Lot Of Swearing And Cussing / Even More Swearing And Cussing" - the release, by Creation Records, of an argument between the Gallagher brothers after a Radio One interview. It peaked at no. 52 in Nov 1995. But, for contractual reasons Creation released this under the name "Oas*s" (omitting the "i"), unintentionally protecting Oasis' unbroken chart run! Furthermore, a technical issue (related to the maximum number of formats of a release) led to a 12" single version of "Some Might Say" peaking separately at no. 71 a week after the main single topped the chart. Common consensus is that this should not be deemed to break the run of hits.

The Beatles and Abba each have 18 consecutive Top 10 hits. (Beatles from "A Hard Day's Night" 1964 to "Yesterday" in 1976, broken by "Back In The USSR" which stalled at no. 19. Abba from "S.O.S." in 1975 to "One Of Us" in 1981, broken by "Head Over Heels" which peaked at no. 25).

Top all-girl group is Girls Aloud with 18 consecutive Top 10 hits (from "Sound Of The Underground" in 2002 to "Can't Speak French" in Mar 2008).

Well if Westlife get disqualified for their album track then so should GA, and vice versa

Kylie opened her career with 13 consecutive top 10 hits she had afurther 3 top 10 hits pre 2000 and since her return in 2000 she has had 15 consecutive top 10 hits

so she has atotal of 31 top 10 hits and im sure in my arms with make that 32

Madonna, Take a Bow peaked outside the Top 10 which is silly as it is about the best song she has done. It was number one for weeks in the USA.

I never understood why that happened. Her best selling song in america flopped here (well, i say flop. 16 ain't *that* bad for most acts :P )

The funny this is, in my experience, I play people Take a Bow and they know it's Madonna, yet play them #4 hit Bedtime Story or #3 Rescue Me and they're like 'Who's This?, Never heard this before'

Yeah, it really is a weird one. I think "Take A Bow" is one of Madonna's best singles also. Her biggest ever hit in the U.S. and one of her rare flops here. As a side note, one of my other all-time favourite Madonna songs "Oh Father" is another of her few singles not to go Top 10 in the U.K.
