April 6, 200817 yr Author 25 (from 36) Britney Spears - Break The Ice [D] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697290262.JPG Chart Run: 36-25 [2 wks] Release date: 14-4-2008 Availability: pre-order now Number of Discs: 1 Catalogue Number: 88697290262 Label: RCA In the late 1990s, Madonna had long since become a mature artist, turning her back on the carefree dance-pop of her early days ("Like A Virgin," "Holiday," etc.). Teenage singer Britney Spears picked up on this specific Madonna era, albeit with a more girl-next-door approach. Her coy mix of innocence and sensuality (and infectious songs) made her a superstar, and helped inspire the teen-pop phenomenon that soon dominated pop music. By the early '00s, Spears was casting about for a more adult image, and remade herself into a vixen, experimented with acting and reality TV, and had two children with the controversial wannabe rap star Kevin Federline. While her personal life preempted her musical output for a while, she seemed on the road to artistic recovery after the 2006 birth of her second child. A critically lambasted appearance on the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards and a very public custody battle with Federline worked against her, but her concurrent album release BLACKOUT bought her some credibility with the fickle music press. - HMV Video here: PvzwXtU8BeE track listing 1. April 6, 200817 yr Author 24 (from 24) Snoop Dogg - Sensual Seduction [P] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1766332.JPG Chart Run: 24-24 [2 wks] Release date: 24-3-2008 Availability: in stock Number of Discs: 1 Catalogue Number: 1766332 Label: GEFFEN Snoop Doggy Dogg ensured his place in rap history by providing the perfect vocal complement to Dr. Dre's mellow, ominous, West Coast G-funk sound. His distinctively lazy singsong and soft-spoken drawl was first heard on Dre's title cut from the DEEP COVER soundtrack in 1991. Snoop's appearances on Dre's solo album THE CHRONIC shortly thereafter propelled him to almost overnight stardom, and his albums DOGGYSTYLE and the DOGGFATHER both hit the top of the charts. Despite a much-publicized murder trial, and a falling out with Death Row Record's CEO Suge Knight, Snoop Dogg ascended to the highest echelon of rap royalty, and through shrewd marketing, brilliant collaborations, and his smooth pimp persona, he has kept his crown well into the 21st century. - HMV Video here: qSS_DY_z-Dc track listing 1. April 6, 200817 yr Break The Ice = fantastic tune despite Britney sounding like a guest singer on her own track. Sexual Seduction = not bad for Snoop, but the Prince - When Doves Cry video rip-off/pastiche is lame IMHO.
April 6, 200817 yr WOW Snoop Dogg a non mover. Doesn't happen often that a new entry at number 24 is a non mover the following week.
