You wouldn't be the only one. Personally i think each song by an artist should be taken on it's individual merits. I really hate Leona Lewis's voice and style of singing, but Better in Time is lush. Preformed conceptions of an artist can hamper objectivity and would make you less open to giving the song a fair chance subconsciously. You may not even realise that the moment you saw Gabriella Cilmi your mind switched off and decided it was $h!t.

I :heart: Gabriella Cilmi (I was going to send Save The Lies, remember?) and likewise am totally open to foreign songs (Non Mallare Mai and Emmene Moi being two stand outs for me) but I just don't think it's a very good song. It's kind of a typical of sobby going no where love song, pleasant enough to listen to once but not something I feel I wanted to hear again, the type of song which has always flopped in this contest (Mutya 'Strung Out' another example). Had the song been upbeat and catchy with Gabby singing in any non-english lanaguage then I'm sure it would do well but I think it's the genre not the specifics which meant you didn't qualify this time.

 

I too realise this is a song contest and it seems people just don't like sad love songs.

Reading the thread by Mattais it does seem that "it would've qualified if it were in English" seems to be the common excuse for rubbish foreign songs not qualifying! :lol: I can safely say that any foreign song I didn't vote for, I wouldn't have voted for in English!
