Ken Livingstone, Boris Johnson and Brian Paddick are all hard at work campaigning to win the London mayoral elections on May 1st.

Boris Johnson, the Conservative MP, is currently leading the opinion polls and hopes to oust the incumbent, Mr Livingstone. Mr Paddick, the Liberal Democrat candidate and former senior police officer, is trailing in third place.

Mr Livingstone, the Labour Party candidate, has been in office since 2000 and wants to continue his programme of congestion charging as well as improving public transport if he is re-elected. His adversaries, Mr Johnson and Mr Paddick, both prioritise tackling crime in the capital.

Who do you think should be the next mayor of London? Would you vote for Mr Livingstone, Mr Johnson, Mr Paddick – or none of the above? What about the other candidates? How much does it matter – for Londoners and others – who becomes mayor?

Anyone but Boris Johnson! PLEASE! :(

That's all I need to say on this matter...

I'd prefer Livingstone personally, as much as I hate the congestion charge
I don't live in London (but plan to in the next 5 years), and although I don't agree with everything at the moment, I'd go for Livingstone if I lived there now.

Is Boris being ahead in the opinion polls some kind of joke? Seriously.

This is actually a HUGE missed opportunity for the Tories. If theyd put someone credible up, when Labour are doing so poorly, they couldve got a huge victory, which wouldve probably been the nail in the coffin for Brown.

Anything but f***ing Boris Johnson - the man's a complete joke.

In an ideal world? Sian Berry or Lindsay German all the way; although I would be very happy with Brian Paddick. As a last resort I would also be pleased with Ken Livingstone given the apparent support for Boris Johnson...

But I can't vote yet so I can't do a thing :P

Could still go either way as they're virtually neck and neck in polls now.

I will be voting for Boris

I DETEST Ken with his pro IRA views and his congestion charge and for getting the Olympics to London

Boris is a cretin but its better than Ken Castro

I'm a Londoner (well, okay, a Dundonian really....LOL), basically our choice is between a C/unt (Livingstone), a Tw@t (Boris Johnson) and a Pig (Brian Paddick).... Some choice..... Well, I guess Paddick's the more acceptable, at least he's a gay Pig that none of the real pigs in the Metropolitan Police actually likes very much... But I dunno, Five-O is still Five-O innit.....LOL.......

I think I might vote Green.....

I have no issues with the congestion charge to be honest mate, it has actually reduced the volume of traffic, so all credit to him on that one... Also, anyone who wants to rid London streets of the blight of the fukkin' "Chelsea Tractor" isn't all bad in my book.....

....I'm a bit in two minds about the Olympics though, it has gotten much needed regeneration into the East End of London... Summat that bloody should have happened 20 fukkin' YEARS ago..... <_< I used to live in that neck of the woods, so I know only too fukkin' well......

Boris is a detestable Tory cretin who will be nothing but totally disastrous for London, at least Ken's actually done something for the city whatever his flaws.....

Boris Johnson is London's new mayor

Ahaha, yay!! It's fabulous to see a politican who is capable but also has a real sense of humour.

In some recent magazine interview, he was asked his stance on drugs and his reply was something like:

'Actually, what is my stance on drugs? I can't quite remember!'

Genius.

But that is NOT the point of politics. If you want someone funny, go watch a comedy show. If you think that's funny or 'genius' you quite clearly don't know polotics at all. Boris Johnson is a first class idiot, watch him in any interview or anything he's appeared on (HIGNFY numerous times) and yes, they may be funny, but he has absolutely no idea. Unless he has the most fantastic team of people behind him he will ruin London... I cannot believe we will be trusting a man who appears to have no idea on anything, only ever speaks like he's making stuff up, has almost zero common sense and doesn't know policies (two weeks before the election he said the first thing he do was 'Urm, erm... take away free bus passes for children. Erm... only if they're naughty) to be the public face of London both nationally and internationally. We will be a laughing stock, even more of a laughing stock than now. The only silver lining there may be is that he will potentiall ruin Tory chances in two years...

The Tories could have put a monkey up against Ken Livingstone and he'd have won.

Oh.... they did... and he did.

My bad.

An absolute buffoon like Boris Johnson running England's capital? You couldn't make it up - hilarious. He's hardly 'racially aware' either, is he? Oh, this is going to be a lot of fun...... :yahoo:

yep i agree... saw ken interviewed on tv and he pointed out that the legacy of the olympics would be an infrastructure that would benefit the locals in a very deprived area for many years to come.

ken livingstone is one politician that i respect, he has always been open and supported his views with thought... even if i havnt agreed with him.

Genius?? What the hell are you talking about..? The man is a bloody fool... That's the whole problem if you ask me... Idiots going, "Oh, I'll vote for Boris. He's a bit of a LAFF!!!". Well, in about a year's time when the joke's worn thin and those tw@ats who voted for him because of his "sense of humour" wake up to the fact, it's gonna be a bit too late to do anything about it when he DOES (and it aint if, it's when...) make an absolute tit of things...

If the vote was for who the next presenter of "Have I Got News For You" should be, then I'd vote for Boris hands down... But this is about running a bloody CITY mate, not about who should present a comedy show...

London has just voted for a cross between Tim Nice-but-Dim and Father Dougal.... Good for comedy value, bad for the actual running of things....

Seems like your facile, shallow attitudes towards music extends to Politics as well.... Why am I not surprised....
