The first contest I remember watching was 1999, such a great year!

*.*

The year Alsou was representing Russia... I believe it was either 1999 or 2000...

It was in 2003, so it will be my 10th anniversary this year :cheer:

This is what I remember the best from back then

I have a vague recollection of watching the 1992 contest in a busy bar in Portugal and Michael Ball coming second, though I didn't quote know what was going on (my parents would always take me on an annual holiday around May time so the majority of Eurovisions in the 90s were normally watched in a bar somewhere in the Med!).

1993, however, was the year. I was (still?!) a big Sonia fan (I was just 9!) and I think it was that more than the Eurovision itself that interested me... however I fell in love with it and although the majority of songs are various levels of total naff, I just bloody love it and now I'm going this year!

1996. I was 7 and the huge Gina G hype made it impossible to miss. Hadn't ever heard of it before so kept asking my mum what was going on and how it all worked.

After that I remember watching a bit of the 2000 contest, but then the first one I properly watched and followed all the way through was in 2002, which doesn't seem that long ago but it seems like a different world now - no semi-final, full scoring, Wogan commentary and the UK coming third!

I haven't properly seen it live all the way through since 2007 as I've usually been out on the night of the contest ever since, although we watched about half of it at a house party in the Blue/Jedward double whammy year of 2011.

2010!

Fave song from that year was "In A Moment Like This", the last performance in the final. Does Denmark ever disappoint? I mean, "Should've Known Better," "Only Teardrops"...

Yes it does. Almost every single year.

OMG, I think the text gen say...! No-one's even close (I have several equally old eurovision fan friends though who go the finals and semis and run/write the fan mags)

err....1967, Sandie Shaw winning for the UK. I was hooked and have been ever since. Last 10 years have been the best though. I was very very young when I started...!
