Shaping up to be one of the singles of the year, 'Meanteater' marks the spectacular return of Nelly Furtado. Co-written between Nelly and hip hop uber-producer Timbaland, 'Maneater' finds Nelly once again going against the grain with a colourful, innovative pop anthem, which is taken from her primarily beat-driven forthcoming album, 'Loose'.

Where do you think this will peak?

This is what you were doing instead of talking to ME on MSN? :o  :P

Top 5 definitely, maybe just #5 though.

I can see this doing a 'Don't Cha' myself if not on its week of release a week or so after when all the football stuff's died down.
Top5 certainly, one of my favourite tracks of the year.
I still dislike this hugely.

Heard this yesterday for the first time, and it's absolute cack. Nonsense of the highest order. Very disappointing especially after Powerless and Try.

So of course this will probably be the song that will make a massive superstar

It's sad to see her go from being a quirky little artist, to turning to generic "all the sexy guys and sexy girls on the floor shaking their bodies" $h!te that you'd expect the Pussycat Dolls would do.

She can do a lot better.

It reminds me more of 'Hollaback Girl' more than the Dolls though.

Top ten hit.

You know, you're right about the Hollaback Girl comparison. I HATED that with a passion too.

I so agree.

I loved her second album - Folklore. It had a variety of different musical styles & reminded me of the New Zealand band Crowded House a lot.

But I'd rather see a major talent like Nelly Furtado move in on the Chav market than that rubbish dance troupe from LA with a session singer on lead vocals (PCDs) who have recorded an awful album half full of covers, or tracks that sound like they have been rejected by Destiny's Child or the Spice Girls.

Well yes, I doubt that anything could be as bad as the Pussycat Doll album (their versions of Tainted Love and Hot Stuff are HIDEOUS).

But Nelly's change in direction is so cynical. "Folklore sold badly, how do we make Nelly a success again? I know, let's go for the easy, obvious option; turn Nelly into yet another bland Chav idol". They've taken a look at Hollaback Girl, the PCD, and the like, and decided to stick Nelly in there because it sells, even though it doesn't suit her.

I know the US and the UK loves mindless pap like this, but whatever happened to artist integrity. This STINKS of sell-out.

I hope I am wrong though, and this IS just genuine (though misguided) artist experimentation.

I'm going for top 10, i'm kind of disappointed by it though, the fact she's gone all sexy r'n'b, but her old stuff wasn't selling so i see why she's done it
yea but alot of artists have changed, look at mariah carey, her music style has changed alot
