May 19, 200817 yr First reviews out aren't so good... Still I watched the first three about 100,000 times growing up so I'll definitely see the new one if only for nostalgic reasons!
May 19, 200817 yr Alot of the reviews, especially those who see it early on, seem to be the type who have their minds made up before seeing it. I find that with alot of films early reviews. I can't imagine it will be anything but a great action adventure. No, it will most likely not be as good as the 1st and 3rd films, but alot of people who have seen it on Imdb have said it is better than the 2nd, which was still a very good film. Speilberg and Lucas are not really capable of making a bad film, but by using alot of CGI etc, it is bound to attract bad reviews based on that alone. I am going to reserve my judgment until i see it. I am sure though that is will be the biggest film of the year and possibly one of the highest grossing films of all time, because it's the type of film everyone will want to see as it is one of the most loved series ever. ^_^
May 19, 200817 yr Author I doubt it will be the biggest film of the year - or all time. I can imagine that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will out do it for a start. But, I can see it being huge (given all the advertising and hype as well). I too am reserving judgement until I see it.
May 19, 200817 yr Well I definatly think it will gross around 800-a billion globally. It will definatly surpass the first three as films these days made way more than older films. You are right, Harry Potter will probebly beat it though. I forgot about that :P Well it has got 9.2 on imdb which is really high for that site.
May 20, 200817 yr The kid in me who grew up enjoying the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Temple of Doom" films is saying "HELL YEAH!!!!". Unfortunately, the sight of a 60-odd year old Harrison Ford attempting to do the sort of action stuff that he used to do 25 years ago has the potential to just look patently foolish..... And from what I hear, there is the usual over-reliance of CGI gimmickry, whereas the original films were all about real stunts and real thrills and action , not some c**p knocked up on a fukkin' computer..... <_< No, I rather think the kid in me is gonna be incredibly disappointed.... :(
May 20, 200817 yr Speilberg and Lucas are not really capable of making a bad film Well, I dispute that mate... The "Star Wars" prequels are pretty ropey to say the least (especially Episode 1), and frankly, I thought AI was just utter c**p....
May 21, 200817 yr I'm going with a friend to see this tomorrow night, it was more his choice than mine though it has to be said.
May 21, 200817 yr Raiders.. is my all time fave series of the franchise, the new film looks good and will be watching as I have all 3 films, the second film was totally cr@p though and that awful Short Round kid, and George Lucas is planning a 5th with Shai taking the lead.
May 22, 200817 yr The reviews this has got, is people being too harsh on the film. It's a good, fun film. Lots of good action sequences, and a few twists and turns. John Hurt was absolutely fantastic in this. He portrayed his character so well. I will admit though the plot's a bit err...farfetched? That's probably the best word to use. The ending was a bit confusing for me, but it was probably me being very sceptical.
May 23, 200817 yr I saw it last night. The majority of the film is brilliant, the ending was really werid though which sort of ruined, i didnt find the ending very Indiana Jonesy, but all in all a good film. The best part was John Williams soundtrack, quite amazing.
May 25, 200817 yr First reviews out aren't so good... Still I watched the first three about 100,000 times growing up so I'll definitely see the new one if only for nostalgic reasons! Me too - I have watched the first three so many times! Havent seen the first 3 (apart from the obv classic scenes on clip shows) and the trailer makes it look like its gonna be much worse than the two National Treasure films and Sahara - so probs will only go if others wanna see it or if there's nothing else to see.
May 25, 200817 yr Author I saw it last night. The majority of the film is brilliant, the ending was really werid though which sort of ruined, i didnt find the ending very Indiana Jonesy, but all in all a good film. I saw the film on Friday night. I agree with what Chris is saying - in the main it was great, but the last part totally ruined it. But, much better than I was expecting it to be.
May 25, 200817 yr I've been hearing mixed reviews about this one. I had high hopes for it and still plan to see it on the big screen, so i'm trying to tune out all the negative feedback! Indy rules! :yahoo:
June 1, 200817 yr I was surprised at how good it was after hearing it wasn't as good as the first 3 but I disagree with that, I think it is definately better than the first 2. I thought as a whole though it was excellent and I liked the storyline (up untill the point in which it turns out it's all about aliens). But the casting of Ray Winstone was a bit baffling seeing how he can't act, plus the wedding at the end which could set up a 5th film with Shia Labeouf becoming the new Indiana Jones, which was really cheesey. June 1, 200817 yr I think it's better than people are making it out to be too. There were a few dodgy moments [largely the ending with the aliens WTF? and the whole climbing into a fridge was a bit silly too] but in the main it was a very good film! Some very, very harsh reviews out there right now.
June 2, 200817 yr I think it is definately better than the first 2. Better than "Raiders of the Lost Ark", are you kidding me...? I've been watching these films for years, I grew up with this stuff, and honestly, I can say that this film is BADLY let down by an over-reliance on CGI as opposed to real stunts which were the main strengths of the original films, that and the fact that the scripting is pretty weak.. Plot and script wise, it's nowhere near as good as "Raiders..." or "...Last Crusade", although, it has to be said, "Temple of Doom" doesn't really age well at all... Nah, I'd put it about third, slightly ahead of "Temple of Doom", but nowhere near the league of "Raiders.." or "...Last Crusade"....
