May 25, 200817 yr UK a disgrace??? The whole of eurovision is a disgrace!! Cheesey c**p!! Why do you bother with it then? If the countries and songs bother you so much, there are other things you could have spent 3 and a half hours doing last night :P
May 25, 200817 yr UK a disgrace??? The whole of eurovision is a disgrace!! Cheesey c**p!! I disagree. The UK entry was a disgrace, an entry 'saved' and backed by Terry Wogan who's Eurovision musical knowledge ends at 'it is all political'. The disgrace is the BCC's doing and not Eurovision itself.
May 25, 200817 yr God bless San Morino. Did they vote? Wow they're so small! I wonder how many votes they sent out to other countries, probably about 200 Also euorpean countiries hate England for going to war with America, this is also another reason!! I think we have a below average reputation, maybe a stereotypical image of being posh, but America declared independance nearly 250 years ago
May 25, 200817 yr Did they vote? Wow they're so small! I wonder how many votes they sent out to other countries, probably about 200 San Marino had a jury vote, which is probably why we got points from them.
May 25, 200817 yr I'm not even sure the Making Your Mind Up show serves any purpose really. The UK public don't vote with 'what song will European voters like best?' in mind, obviously, they think 'Which is the 'funnest' of these songs?', and so an expert panel, perhaps consisting of Wogan and other expert critics should just choose. It's difficult, because obviously they could pick something which was total crap as well as the public could, but they at least might get it right - the public never do!
May 25, 200817 yr San Marino had a jury vote, which is probably why we got points from them. We didn't get a single point from Malta this year, and we usually get the votes from them, it just shows we just keep on sending cr@p. I just hope Terry Wogan is reading this topic. Terry chose the wrong song to represent us, if you reading this Terry, take a look at other countries choices of songs, they did better than us. :D With Simona we could at least be in the top 10.
May 25, 200817 yr Martyn, I watch eurovision for three reasons: 1. It makes me laugh, the songs are so funny 2. Tradition - have always watched it!! 3. And the distantant hope that we might just win and that the rest of european does indeed love us brits after all!!

Shows Malta voted for the song not the country. The UK where much better last year(especially for an island), and c**p this year. Well done Malta. Accurate, none political voting I'd say. I doubt Simona Armstrong would of been Top10, although would of been a better attempt then Andy. Edited May 25, 200817 yr by SkiBaBopBaDopBop
May 25, 200817 yr SkiBaBopBaDopBop - Terry Wogan is a genius, Britain loves him and he has an extensive knowledge of music having been part of the BBC since the 1960's. Thats about 40 years of experience and he knows the difference between good music and not so brilliant music!! I think europe is deluded by what is classed as good music!

Being loved as a DJ and have a knowledge of music are two different things. Listen to any Radio 1 DJ! :P
May 25, 200817 yr I think the thing is that europe takes it so seriously, they don't have a sense of humour!! I don't see it as a music contest, I see it as a popularity contest and feel saddened byt the fact the europe does not like us. I think the UK is an amazing counrty and I feel proud to call myself British. Europe dislikes us as we went to war with America, as our points started to go down when we shipped our troops out. We do so much for europe, our government have allowed more foreigners in, taking our jobs and houses. I Think it is hypercritical to come to this country and not vote for us!! Like your country, have the decency to like our music!!
May 25, 200817 yr SkiBaBopBaDopBop - so you are saying that terry wogan has no knowledge of music?? Even though he has been in broadcasting for 40 years?? I think you are deluded!! What music do you like?? The cheeky girls by any chance??
May 25, 200817 yr The UK where much better last year(especially for an island), What do you mean by this?? Being an island has nothing to do with it. The UK has produced alot of sucessful music since popualr music began. If we did so much better last year then why didn't we get higher up the board?? Leona Lewis is a prime example, shes number one in America, a very hard country to crack!
May 25, 200817 yr I think the thing is that europe takes it so seriously, they don't have a sense of humour!! I don't see it as a music contest Maybe if the UK actualy took it seriously we would do better, as many people here see it as a joke, which is reflected in our entries and therefore in our position. Europe dislikes us as we went to war with America, as our points started to go down when we shipped our troops out. Yet the first contest after we went to war we finished 4th with Jessica Garlik..... We do so much for europe, our government have allowed more foreigners in, taking our jobs and houses. And other governments allow uk citizens to go and live in their countries...... I Think it is hypercritical to come to this country and not vote for us!! If you are in the UK you can't vote for the UK end of. Like your country, have the decency to like our music!! what?
May 25, 200817 yr Gahhhh! Iceland should have won - it was the best song there by miles! I liked Greece, Latvia (I loved the song!) and Sweden too. All were robbed. at the UK's terrible song being joint last :P
May 25, 200817 yr I think the fact is that even if we do produce an amazing song we still wouldnt win or come in the top 10. I think we are disliked that much!! So if there are any countries out there who like the UK, let yourself be known!! Go on, how many of you main land europeans like us birts?? Prove me wrong!!
May 25, 200817 yr SkiBaBopBaDopBop - so you are saying that terry wogan has no knowledge of music?? Even though he has been in broadcasting for 40 years?? I think you are deluded!! What music do you like?? The cheeky girls by any chance?? Terry has limited knowledge of European music knowledge especially modern music. Terry was born and raised in Limerick, Ireland with a a strong religious upbringing. Hardly the outreach for cultural exposure. This year Terry is 70 years old, complete out of touch with modern music in the UK let alone the whole of Europe. This is Terry's musical taste. ElnCI1fkfFM
May 25, 200817 yr It doesnt matter if the UK sent the best song Europe have ever heard, we'd still be bottom five. What a disgrace winner, Iceland or Sweden should of won.
May 25, 200817 yr 18th place for Sweden was quite a shock tbh and Iceland 14th. Im glad Ukraine managed 2nd place but how Russia could win with such an average song is ridiculous.
May 25, 200817 yr i dont get what most off yu have against dima he is amazingand deseved to win even f you didnt like him you must have liked his song or his song from 2006 theyy were both great and i think he deseverd to win
