Posted May 26, 200817 yr Now, who else brings a new chart, on a Bank Holiday! :yahoo: Have to thank Peter Jay and John McManus, for their time today. In our preview of what may happen in next Sunday`s Countdown, with Scott Mills. Last week on the albums, we had 8 in the top 10, 19 in the 20...and only 24 in the 30. A few pre-orders let us down, and surprisingly the Searchers stayed in the combined top 30, as did my mate Frank Sinatra! Today the albums apparently, look this way... 01 01 WE STARTED NOTHING - TING TINGS 02 03 ROCKFERRY - DUFFY 03 NE HERE I STAND - USHER 04 02 HOME BEFORE DARK - NEIL DIAMOND 05 11 CHILLED 91-08 - VARIOUS 06 NE EMERGENCY - PIGEON DETECTIVES 07 04 JUMPING ALL OVER THE WORLD - SCOOTER 08 16 R + B COLLECTION - VARIOUS 09 05 IN SILICO - PENDULUM 10 09 CLUBLAND CLASSIX - VARIOUS 11 06 HARD CANDY - MADONNA 12 07 LITTLE DREAMER - BETH ROWLEY 13 13 NOW 69 - VARIOUS 14 24 BEST OF - NEIL DIAMOND 15 NE SEX AND THE CITY - OST/VARIOUS 16 19 CISTERCIAN MONKS - CHANT 17 12 SCOUTING FOR GIRLS - SCOUTING FOR GIRLS 18 NE ULTIMATE COLLECTION - RUSSELL WATSON 19 14 CREAM 15 YEARS - VARIOUS 20 NE PINK AND THE LILY - SANDI THOM 21 NE ZOMBIES AND BEYOND - COLIN BLUNSTONE/ZOMBIES 22 NE GIRLS IN THE CITY - VARIOUS 23 RE ESSENTIAL SELECTION - NEIL DIAMOND 24 22 BACK TO BLACK - AMY WINEHOUSE 25 17 TRANCE ANTHEMS - DAVE PEARCE/VARIOUS 26 31 VAMPIRE WEEKEND - VAMPIRE WEEKEND 27 15 LESSONS TO BE LEARNED - GABRIELLA CILMI 28 32 101 DRIVING SONGS - VARIOUS 29 25 SMASH HITS 80S - VARIOUS 30 NE THIS IS NOT THE WORLD - FUTUREHEADS Entries outside the top 30 for: KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES at 34, SPIRITUALIZED at 35, NEW CLASSIX 2008 at 36, ASHLEE SIMPSON at 37, and CRAZYFISTS (TIDE AND IT`S TAKERS) is 46. We had 17 in the 20, 28 in the 30, but only 34 in the top 40...a couple of downloads alone, and long runners put it out. Two hits from 1975, in the 1995 chart with JIMMY SOMERVILLE covering SUSAN CADOGAN`s 75 hit "HURT SO GOOD", and CHINA BLACK doing the old negro song "SWING LOW SWEET CHARIOT", which was a surprise top 20 hit, in 75 for ERIC CLAPTON...And later became a rugby anthem, but it`s even older than all of that and probably one of the oldest ever songs to chart. ELTON JOHN was MADE IN ENGLAND, right next door to BRYAN ADAMS...I found it rather funny here, because I suddenly thought just imagine, BRYAN ADAMS saying to ELTON JOHN, "Say Elton, have you ever really loved a woman!"
May 26, 200817 yr Thanks, trevs - I have a feeling that Duffy could nab the #1 album back on Sunday :o
May 26, 200817 yr Author Thanks, trevs - I have a feeling that Duffy could nab the #1 album back on Sunday :o Very, very close today in points/average figures, for stores. Also, the boys could not get Woolworths chart figures, but that should not make a significant difference.
May 26, 200817 yr Oops I'm predicting a new #1 album this week, and it goes to The Futureheads, by the looks of things I could be far off. I didn't think of Duffy reclaiming the top spot while her new single is physically released this week. Also its interesting to see in the Singles review, there are only 2 new tracks from Go Audio and The Guillemots while the rest are in the official top 40 this week, Flo Rida is just lingering outside the top 40
May 26, 200817 yr that would be an impressive result for Sandi! having just listened to the album once through, it seems much worse than her first album, there aren't many hooks...perhaps its a grower though
May 27, 200817 yr Just 3.5k in it last week think it'll be closer this week and the possibility of a #1 reclimb since Shakira.
May 27, 200817 yr Nah i really do think unless a surprise Climber or new entry does it, then Rihanna will hold off the Ting Tings for a 2nd week :)
