Steven The Stingray

Head of the judging panel Steven The Stingray said Nonsuch's hopes of winning a BJSC was still on track after a very disappointing performance by Kylie Minogue - The One left Nonsuch languishing towards the bottom of the Top 10 in Quotosibb.

The Australian pop princess finished 90 points behind winner Mdice after finishing 9th on Sunday following the 7th BJSC.

"There's nothing you can do that can distract me," Steven said.

"You can keep on giving us disappointments, whatever you want. We'll keep battling,

and trying to come back with a result."

Nonsuch were expected by many experts to finish in the Top 3, because of the Freemasons Remix of the standout track from her X album was deemed to be a future UK Top 10 hit in August.

Steven The Stingray has been upset by some newspaper coverage of the selection of Kylie, and made his frustration clear following the result in Quotosibb on Sunday.

"Regardless of what's written in the papers tomorrow, I'm going to go back to the selection panel and push with the team and we're going to focus on the next Song Contest and we're going to hit 'em hard."

Asked by Nonsuch's Song Contest reporter Wiggy O'Wearer if he felt angry, Steven said: "I feel cool. It's all good. A Contest is a contest. We're still here. There's nothing you can do to get me out of here.

"We're going to keep battling. There's a long way to go. I have absolutely no doubts. I don't care how far we are behind.

"Several countries have done badly in one competition and bounced back to win. I don't care. We'll still come back."

BJSC8 LATEST:

Upon the announcement that the next competition does not take place until July 29th, after the music panel met, we are proud to announce that the representative of Nonsuch will come from one of the following:

In alphabetical order the nominees are:

Alanis Morissette - Not As We

Ladyhawke - Paris Is Burning

Les Rythmes Digitales - Sometimes

Lily Allen - Guess Who Badman (F**k You Very Much)

Sneaky Sound System - Pictures

Ladyhawke is amaze, but I don't think it'd do too well :( Lily Allen seems like your best bet ^_^
I think 'I Could Say' is a better song and has been at the top of my playlist since she previewed it on MySpace but 'GWB' is a great tune too, not sure if it will be to everyone's cup of tea but I definately think it's the best song there

Steven The Stingray

Head of the judging panel Steven The Stingray said Nonsuch's winning the 8th BJSC in FSR Rontvia was a perfect and sweet vindication of the selection process. Especially, after concerns were raised when Angelic Land selected Song for BJSC8 Runner-Up Ladyhawke as there entry.

The British tabloid friendly singer/songwriter started very poorly lying outside the Top 10 after the first 12 nations votes & but came through to take the crown by just one point.

"I can tell you, I'm over the moon." Steven said.

"After BJSC7, we felt under pressure to come up with a really good song, and that is exactly what we did thanks to the excellent track from Lily's forthcoming second album.

It goes without saying we are delighted with the results."

In what many experts thought was a very open competition, Nonsuch were expected by most experts to finish in the Top 5.

Asked by Nonsuch's Song Contest reporter Wiggy O'Wearer about the next entry, Steven said: "We have one or two really good entries potentially lined up. But they might be scared to represent us now next time around, as the winning country never seems to make it two wins in a row. But there is always a first time.

Tonight we are going to go out and celebrate and get drunk. But if no one wants to represent us, then we can always call on the services of the Gummy Bear (laughs)"

Steven The Stingray

Head of the judging panel Steven The Stingray said Nonsuch's finishing 3rd as hosts of BJSC9 was a brilliant result, being the best ever performance by a winning nation from the previous competition. Especially, after concerns were raised at Cyndi Lauper's age (55) and how this might scare other BJSC countries from voting for someone their parents grew up with.

"I can tell you, we look forward to going to the Kingdom of Shadow." Steven said.

"We knew that Cyndi is a brilliant performer being the P!nk of the 1980s, so it was quite ironic that she finished behind her. We are very pleased with the results."

Asked by Nonsuch's Song Contest reporter Wiggy O'Wearer about the next entry, Steven said: "As ever we have one or two really good entries potentially lined up. We want to become a force in the Buzzjack Song Contest community having joined it so late. We would love to make it 4 Top 10 finishes in a row or even 3 Top 3 finishes in a row in BJSC10"

"We will look to reveal our entry on Monday 25th August, but we think it will be a force to be reckoned with"

NONSUCH ENTRY FOR BJSC 10:

Nonsuch is proud to announce that their latest entry will be by a Russian duo who are scheduled to release their third British album (currently planned for) January 2009 "Waste Management" which will be preceded by the lead single "White Robe".

This track is again produced by the legendary British producer Trevor Horn (Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Seal, ABC, Propaganda, Yes, Buggles, Lisa Stansfield, The Art Of Noise, Cher, Grace Jones, Tina Turner, Tom Jones, Paul McCartney, Pet Shop Boys, Simple Minds, Eros Ramazzotti, Mike Oldfield, Marc Almond, Charlotte Church, t.A.T.u, LeAnn Rimes, and Belle & Sebastian), being the English version of a track released in Russian "Beliy Plaschik" in May 2008.

Even more impressive the video was directed by legendary US video director Paul Hunter (Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya & Pink - "Lady Marmalade", Britney Spears feat. Madonna - "Me Against the Music", Jennifer Lopez - "If You Had My Love", Mariah Carey - "Honey", TLC - "Unpretty", Michael Jackson - "You Rock My World", Gwen Stefani - "Hollaback Girl", Notorious B.I.G feat. Puff Daddy - "Hypnotize", Marilyn Manson - "The Dope Show", Lenny Kravitz - "Fly away", Will Smith's "Wild Wild West", Christina Aguilera - "Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)", Eminem - "The Way I Am", Jennifer Lopez - "Love Don't Cost a Thing", Kelis - "Milkshake", Snoop Dogg feat. Justin Timberlake - "Signs", Justin Timberlake feat. T.I. - "My Love"..... amongst others):

Therefore you must watch this video:

t.A.T.u. - White Robe

lyrics:

Feeling Ugly, Looking pretty

Yellow Ribbons, Black Graffiti

Word is written, Bond is broken

No big secret left unspoken

Sun is painted in the corner

But it's never getting warmer

All the lies they keep on selling

But you never check the spelling

Flying Bullets

Hit the targets

Wings and haloes

Five to seven

In these white robe

Through the darkness

Paragliding

Back to heaven

Time is running, we are sitting

Back together just for splitting

You are crying in the corner

Always next and never former

Open up and let me hear it

Former body, future spirit

Brain is useless, chair is rocking

Open doors for dead man walking

Any Comments on Nonsuch's entry?

Due to the ongoing situation in the otherworld of Planet Earth, it has been decided that entering Russian act tATu would not have gone down well in the current political climate.

Therefore as this artist has been freed up from another nations vote selection process, then Nonsuch is more than pleased to announce that their entry for BJSC10 is by the Welsh singer/songwriter Duffy with the track co penned and produced by former McAlmont/Butler & Suede guitarist/songwriter Bernard Butler:

Duffy - Distant Dreamer

Although you

Think I cope

My head is filled

With hope

Of some place

Other than here

Although you

Think I smile

Inside all the while

I'm wondering

About my destiny

I'm thinking about

All the things

I'd like to do

In my life

[Chorus:]

I'm a dreamer

A distant dreamer

Dreaming for hope

From today

Even when you

See me frown

My heart

Won't let me down

Because I know

There's better things

To come

(Woah, yeah)

And when life

Gets tough

I feel

I've had enough

I hold on to

A distant star

I'm thinking about

All the things

I'd like to do

In my life

(Chorus 2x)

Yeah

I'm a dreamer

Oooooooh (3x)

(Chorus)

Yeah

I'm a dreamer

Oooooooh (3x)

I'm a dreamer

Fantastic choice... by far my favourite off of Rockferry

Absolutely gorgeous track, but I'm surprised you entered it seeing as you said yourself it was a mildly cheap entry  Should be guaranteed a good few points from me anyway in Duffy's second entry in this competition  You've got to top Mercy's third place! :funky:
