Posted June 4, 200817 yr Rumors about the cancellation of Torchwood can now be put to rest as TV Guide confirms directly from Cardiff that the series will return for a third season. In fact, the new episodes are presently being developed and shooting is expected to start in the middle of August for airing on BB1 in the spring of 2009. http://www.buddytv.com/articles/torchwood/...rmed-20103.aspx
June 4, 200817 yr still worrying, why shrink it down to 5 episodes  and show them all in one week. Series 4, best be full length again, or the future ain't looking bright.
June 4, 200817 yr That's RUBBISH :( Nowhere near enough of Torchwood fix. "I wanted to make a really big noise about the show." Erm...by cutting the series length by more than a half and getting it all done and dusted within a week?
June 4, 200817 yr I presume they'll have done this because of Doctor Who not having a full series next year. If the BBC are saving money from Doctor Who then they'll not waste it on Torchwood as the production costs will be massive, as they film Torchwood roundabout the same time as Doctor Who don't they? So by cutting back of Torchwood the BBC won't be losing any money with extra production costs.
June 5, 200817 yr True. There were rumours about it being moved to a Saturday evening slot, which would have allowed for more of Torchwood, but would also have required a huge shift in the style of the show. So I suppose at least, Torchwood might avoid having to shift to family-friendly plots, but still...
June 5, 200817 yr Author True. There were rumours about it being moved to a Saturday evening slot, which would have allowed for more of Torchwood, but would also have required a huge shift in the style of the show. So I suppose at least, Torchwood might avoid having to shift to family-friendly plots, but still... Family friendly, oh god that would ruin the show. I don't know what time slot it will be in but apparently it is going to be shown on BBC1
June 5, 200817 yr Family friendly, oh god that would ruin the show. I don't know what time slot it will be in but apparently it is going to be shown on BBC1 It would; it would essentially remove the whole purpose of Torchwood; a platform for darker Dr Who plots to be acted out.
June 23, 200817 yr Author Torchwood Adds Two Cast Next Series http://popculturezoo.com/archives/634 Julie Gardner has confirmed that a third series of Torchwood has been commissioned and that it will be unlike anything we have seen before! Not only will the series air on BBC One, Torchwood will have a brand new format. The series will consist of just one continuous story, delivered over 5 consecutive nights. That’s not the only thing that will be new about the series - Torchwood will have a brand new producer, Peter Bennett, who has previously worked on Torchwood and on Doctor Who as well as ‘The Mummy’, ‘A View to a Kill’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’. Euros Lyn will also join the team as Director. Euros has directed several Doctor Who episodes including the ‘Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead’ two-part story from the current series. And just to add to the excitement, the show will boast some new arrivals in the cast as well… Julie Gardner says that she and Russell T Davies “are thrilled to be bringing Torchwood back for a third series. The new series promises to be a gripping and surprising TV event and we’re certain the audience will love the team’s exciting, roller-coaster adventures.” Production on the new series will start in August.
June 23, 200817 yr Meh- I don't think its bad at all. It will be back for a full fourth series in 2010.
June 23, 200817 yr Meh- I don't think its bad at all. It will be back for a full fourth series in 2010. has that been confirmed though? I haven't read anything to say it, or I'm very blind  With RTD leaving DW, is he leaving Torchwood as well?
July 25, 200817 yr According to the Sun today, Freema Agyeman will NOT be appearing in Torchwood going forward as she has defected to ITV. I suspect this may cause some delays to the next series :( Damn.
