Ok, it's about time I made a proper thread for the dates and stuff for this next contest.

 

Song Confirmation Thread Opening: 8th June

Song Confirmation Thread Closes: 14th June (6pm GMT)

Semi Final Thread and Voting Opens: 14th June (with recap video expected the following day)

Semi Final Voting Closes and results announced: 18h June

Final Voting Opens: 18th June (recap next day)

Final Voting Closes and Results Announced: 22nd June (from 4pm)

 

That gives almost 7 days to confirm your song properly - which should be more than enough since we've had a large gap between contests this time and most of you have already made a decision.

 

Only the people in the semi-final have to vote, but I would advise everyone to vote and listen to the songs as people confirm them because it will prepare you for voting in the final, rather than rushing it and possibly running out of time. There'll be a recap video the day after it opens, but I'd rather people listened to the songs in full first because it's fairer. The number of prequalifiers and people advancing through the semi-final is yet unknown until I know how many people are entering.

 

There is a gap between the semi-final and the final voting because a new recap video will have to be made for the final, excluding the eliminated countries and I'd rather have the recap video ready right away. You'll have from the 18th until 4pm on the 22nd to send your votes. You should have heard of most of the songs by then if you voted in the semi-final anyway.

 

If you have any questions related to the contest I can try to answer them. But as you can see with my semi-final unsureness I'm not really an expert on the rules and all that.

Prequalified places will be confirmed as and when we have a confirmed number of entries, as we didn't want too many prequalified countries in the event we ended up with 40 countries, as we will be having 26 countries in the final ^_^

Put it this way David, we already have 29 confirmed entrants and the song confirmation thread, which usually brings in a good few new countries and returning countries, hasn't even opened yet :( We will have to have a semi, as we're looking at roughly 35 countries and it would be very tough to do a relegation system given the amount of returning countries...

It will be from the best results from the last contest, i.e. it could be anything from top 5 to top 20 ^_^ The only reason we aren't having everybody in the semi-final is because that would be a logistical nightmare! We'd need two recaps and about a page full of links, so we need prequalifiers unfortunately :(

I doubt we'll only get another 4 countries in the confirmation process! :lol: I reckon we'll end up with roughly 38 countries.

OMG BJSC6 in Eledan made a push for the countries to participate :o

I think it was just the fact that it was such an unquestionably great and entertaining contest, what with the tours and the rivalry as well as the speculation - there were at least 5 or 6 countries that were thought to be the only real ones with a chance at winning and Quotosibb came from behind and claimed it...this time around though I really can't see anyone other than Mdice or the USI winning with two songs that are being touted everywhere as summer anthems!

Well I can run it after the chart if people would prefer that. I only had it at 4pm because I thought it might be a bit late for Pavel at 7pm, but since he might not be able to make it anyway, I guess I can move it back. ^_^ I like to follow the chart and chart thread anyway.
