June 16, 200817 yr Wow, I think this can end up being the year's biggest selling album. :o I think so too, unless Dido releases.
June 16, 200817 yr Still we should FINALLY see an album spend more than a week at No1! The album chart is becoming a joke like the singles chart was between 1999-2002. A joke? That was the most spectacular time for singles chart in history! FINALLY there was something going on there as opposed to the boredom that this chart is facing right now... -_- As much as I appreciate Coldplay's input to music and sales, I wish someone beat them next week to the top to continue the fabulous streak of ever changing number ones even though I know how impossible is that :(
June 16, 200817 yr The track - featured on the winning routine in Britain's Got Talent - shifted over 27,500 copies this week, keeping Rihanna's 'Take A Bow' in second place with sales of around 20,700. Ne-Yo rises from five to three with 'Closer'.
June 16, 200817 yr Yay- i predicted 300k! Amazing sales though! will defo be the top seller this year! i reckon 1.5 million!
June 16, 200817 yr Coldplay album goes platinum in three days Sunday, June 15 2008, 19:06 BST By Nick Levine, Music Editor Rex Features Coldplay have entered the charts at number one with new album Viva La Vida. The album has sold 302,074 copies since its release on Thursday - enough to earn it a platinum award after just three days on sale. The band have now topped the UK albums chart with each of their first four studio albums. Last week's chart-topper, 22 Dreams by Paul Weller, drops to four behind albums by Neil Diamond and Duffy. Meanwhile, The Fratellis score the second-highest new entry of the week, debuting at five with sophomore effort Here We Stand Excellent sales for Coldplay. I reckon they should do a further 200k this week, they'll soon make the top 2 sellers of the year at this rate.
June 16, 200817 yr 302k in three days is pretty good, wonder how their sales will hold up this week? Still we should FINALLY see an album spend more than a week at No1! The album chart is becoming a joke like the singles chart was between 1999-2002. But the big selling albums hang around the top 20 forever, like Duffy and Amy Winehouse. A lot of the fanbased acts slip fast, and the public get bored eventually from overexposure, like from Leona or Usher
