Dont you mean Well known SONGS? I think an album track is ok to send after all it is a SONG contest

Sometimes I think it's hard to send acts who aren't well known. My music taste is quite commercial, so most artists I know are well known. There aren't many unknown artists I know and I wouldn't know how to use MySpace to find artists that are minor and if I did, it's not guaranteed that I'll find anything good enough to do well. I guess I could use Last.fm or something to find an artist.

Hopefully the Sara Bareilles song I'll probably use isn't too bad.

With the amount of ridiculous entries we're getting so far I'm certain to end up voting for your song even though I haven't heard it yet...

then listen to it :P

Erm, well if you hadn't noticed I did just say earlier that Ace of Base cannot be entered for him, so I don't really see what throwing a strop will achieve...

And bad move Torchwood, that song will be so old by the time the contest comes around :( CAN WE PLEASE STOP SENDING WELL KNOWN ACTS PEOPLE! :manson::cry:

With all due respect Tyron, this is a competition for everyone. If people want to send a well known song- Let them.

I give votes based on the song- I couldn't give two hoops if the song has been #1 for fifteen weeks.

thx

I'll keep on trying to send original, unique songs...but it's very risky. I don't mind if I'm at the last place or I don't qualify from the semi. If it happens I'll look for a better song. That's all. But if at least one person like my entry then it worth :)

that's a great attitude to have towards this contest :cheer:  much like my own

Fair point, but what does entering a well-known song really add to a contest which is seen as a fantastic way of finding out about new music? Once a well-known artist wins, or a well-known song wins, what happens the contest after? Pretty much everyone enters a well-known song or artist to try and win, and the whole thing would just turn into an inflated version of the Multichart pretty much - and do we really need to contest to realise that, say, Ace of Base - The Sign was a very popular song?

There is a problem with that though.

The purists like yourself and Rich don't give good points to well known songs.

Admittedly i have entered my fair share of well known songs, well two, but thats not the point. My point is that everyone is entitled to a few cheap entry's now and again preferably not as cheap as K.O.S's though. (entry steal = not cool)

however much mumping and moaning everyone does it would be very hard to not enter well know songs and artists and still keep quite high participation numbers. not everyone has the time or can be bothered to look for an unknown artist. at least this way we get a good mix.

Unknown songs so people can discover new music, and known songs for those guilty pleasures we all have *cough*ISaidNeverAgain,ButHereWeAre*cough*

On the one side - it's people's choice whether to send the well-known song or artist to the competition or not, but on the other hand it's ridiculous if someone would have sent Umbrella [/dancewivme]

And about Ace Of Base thing - Addy! - don't give up, it's only the temporary confirmation thread, you just have to confirm your entry in the actual confirmation thread that has been opened recently, anyway there won't be any arguments and phrases like "I reserved it in the TCT so u can't use it" And don't withdraw  ;)

Granted, I was guilty with the Rachel Stevens entry, but the main problem is that everyone seems to be choosing to send the well-known artists in THIS contest, as opposed to before when there'd be a good mix of known and unknown :P
