Yes but it still isn't as confusing as the situation we had yesterday. As we saw, the current rule has several holes!

What holes are we referring to exactly? If we're referring to the situation where Mart!n could hypothetically have been left without his first two choices of artist, then one could argue that that was his just desserts for not ensuring that his NF artists hadn't already been announced as in contention for someone else - something which has been emphasised a couple of times. If we're referring to the NF reservation expiration, that was done on purpose so people don't just announce artists and do nothing, thereby hogging them until the end - technically that was Addy!'s fault for just announcing artists and seemingly doing nothing for a week. Were there any other problems? :unsure:

What you've just said there proves how much simpler the alternative rule would be! It would mean that every member does not have to check up on what is happening in every other country's national selections before doing their own.

Yes, it would be simpler, but would it be fairer? Surely it would be better for members to check up on other natinal finals - some of them do have public votes after all. Should the pre-contest really just about being concerned with only your own NF? :lol:

No it wouldn't be fairer. But it would be less likely to end in big debates as to who is entitled to what act.

 

I would expect 9 out of 10 people to have the common courtesy to hold back until they find out what people are going to use anyway.

Given that the only debate has come as a result of one of the few people who doesn't seem to check this forum except for things that involve him, I doubt this is likely to occur again :lol: And I'm sure if people were given odds of 9/1 that their artists are going to be taken against their will, they'd be unlikely to accept it :P I think a three-day grace period without NFs prior to confirmation would at the very least stop all of this controversy over whether NFs should have reservation rights or not anyway!

If you ask me, Britney's too cheap for anybody :lol: It took the first contest to help me realise that she's one of the few artists that's guaranteed widespread votes regardless of what they send - she picks up casual 5s by the bucketload :P

OK, since all this debate over what constitutes as a confirmation and what not I'd like to confirm the following but I might change my mind in the next 48 hours...if not this will be it:

21 year old Ashley Tisdale has dropped out of representing United States of Russiatron at the 8th annual Buzzjack Song Contest. She was set to sing 'He Said, She Said' at the contest this month; but for personal reasons has had to fly back to her own island TisdaleIsland. She said in an official press statement "I really am sorry for having to drop out; but stuff has cropped out that I can't get out off".

A replacement for Ashley has already been chosen; but official's are currently in neogotian deals with the artist so cannot be revealed as yet...

u can not blame for that , when I confirmed that AOB are NF for Botanikka, I said aswell that Im gonna revealed songs by Sunday(29 june). Then after 2 or 3 days I saw Mart!n that he picked AOB (I noticed him) but still the next day he revealed them as a winner...so what u want me to do...I could not confirmed nothing after what happened.

Heres a quick solution to our problems:

 

1: Impose a maximum of 5 artists that can be reserved for a NF.

 

2: Reiterate the 1 week expiration date

 

3: NF's must finish 3/4 days before confirmation closes

 

4: Unless a country announces outright that Artist XYZ has won the NF/Been internally selected before the NF finish date then all artists will become automatically available on a first come first serve basis for the remainder of the confirmation period.

 

i.e. if country A has a NF with Artist FGG and Artist GGF but does not announce a winner by the NF finish date then both Artist FGG and Artist GGF are available for confimation by any country

 

 

 

so basically if you want a NF, make it small, last a week and choose a couple of days before confirmation ends
