Posted July 22, 200817 yr Beautiful Future for Primal Scream on albums chart Source: MW 13:47 | Tuesday July 22, 2008 By Ben Cardew Primal Scream look set to score the highest new entry in the albums chart this Sunday with their new album Beautiful Future (B Unique), although it is unlikely to unseat Basshunter’s Now You’re Gone: The Album (Hard2Beat) from the number one slot. While Primal Scream look likely to challenge for a top ten entry, Basshunter, Coldplay’s Viva La Vida (Parlophone), Duffy’s Rockferry (A&M) and Abba Gold (Polydor) are all competing to top the chart, with only 2,000 sales separating them at this early stage. The Bachelors’ best of package I Believe (Decca) is set for a top ten entry, while CSS’s Donkey (Sub Pop / Warner Bros) should enter the top twenty. There is little activity in the singles chart at this stage. Dizzee Rascal’s Dance Wiv Me (Dirtee Stank) should hold on for a fourth week at number one, despite a strong challenge from Kid Rock’s All Summer Long. Adele’s Hometown Glory (XL) is set for the highest new entry on the singles chart, in the lower reaches of the twenty. ================================================= Singles 01 Dizzee Rascal 02 Kid Rock 03 Jordin Sparks 04 Basshunter 05 Ne Yo Top 10 Ting Tings Gabriella Climi Rihanna Top 15 Coldplay Duffy Top 20 17 McFly  Adele Noah & The Whale Top 30 Ida Maria Usher Sharleen Spiteri Top 40 Ultrabeat vs Darren Styles ========================================== Albums 01 Basshunter 02 Coldplay 03 ABBA 04 Duffy 05 Sharleen Spiteri Top 10 Primal Scream Bachelors Top 15 Rihanna Top 20 CSS Scouting For Girls Top 30 Jordin Sparks Gabriella Cilmi Adele Kooks Top 40 U2 - Boy MGMT U2 - October Michael Buble Linkin Park NO SALES INFO ========================================= PLEASE NOTE Please keep this thread on topic at all times, I do not want to repeat myself every week, no text talk is allowed, do not write in block CAPS, and keep all requests in one post if you can, and try to read the thread topic before asking a question and please be patient while you are waiting for your question to be answered. July 22, 200817 yr Again the singles chart seems to be very redundant lately with all the deadwood still lingering in the chart as it seems forever, personally its beginning to feel the singles chart is at death's door, with Woolies removing their singles policy as of next month. I don't get this comment - the decline in *physical* sales is hardly the same as saying the singles *chart* is at death's door...
July 22, 200817 yr Author I don't get this comment - the decline in *physical* sales is hardly the same as saying the singles *chart* is at death's door... Have you ever got bored listening to the chart on a Sunday with all the old tracks still in it, its beginning to be a chore lately for me. :P And 3 to 4 new entries each week its worst than the 80s, 5-8 was the norm during that period. They were never lingering in the chart for 20 weeks plus.

They were never lingering in the chart for 20 weeks plus. I only get bored if they're ones I don't like. :) Actually, I listen to the chart show via Sky ch.0101, and use my dvd/hdd recorder to time-shift it by up to an hour, so I can skip songs I don't like - not to mention F&R's waffling BS! As for the number of NE's - the summer is traditionally a slow time for new releases, and you can blame downloads for long chart runs, as the urgency to purchase new releases on CD is no longer relevant (with a very few exceptions).
July 22, 200817 yr Author The Now compilation album will probably see a few old tracks going back up the chart this week, its cherry picking time ^_^
July 22, 200817 yr Would love to see Ida Maria in the top 10 - nice one! Personally I think Kid Rock will hit number one and will be there for some time...such is my lack of faith in the British public that they'd take some w*n**r who has butched Lynyrd Skynyrd and consider him great.

How can Kid Rock be number one when he only sold 31k last week? Where is Sharleen in the singles please Martin? Edited July 22, 200817 yr by Gboy
July 22, 200817 yr How can Kid Rock be number one when he only sold 31k last week? Where is Sharleen in the singles please Martin? Since when did last week's sales count towards this week's? Nickelback (a very similar song) climbed steadily to number one as more and more morons found out about it. Will Ida Maria chart high then Martin? Thanks.
July 22, 200817 yr How can Kid Rock be number one when he only sold 31k last week? I said the same thing about Orson when they topped the charts with just 17k...

Will Ida Maria chart high then Martin? Thanks. Nickleback didnt get to number one so that ain't true? :D Last weeks sales (as they were physical too) are likely to be as much as they will get in one week, give or take a few grand and they werent that high. Plus it's stuck at number two on i tunes too! I just dont see it staying at number one for a few weeks, at the very best it could possibly scrape one week!
July 22, 200817 yr it was obvious mcfly would fall they had the free album out on sunday so everyone has it free
