I completely agree Martin and Dave

:yahoo:

First time on BJ and someones agreed with me on my observations woo :P

But I'm glad everyone else feels the same, tbh, ive given up with the charts I'd rather waste the 4-7 slot talking about the charts on BJ, but I still want to know where my favourite songs have charted, and on the talk of flops, two words

SONNY J

I keep looking at chart stats and wishing for the charts of old, where even in fast weeks, some songs could stay in the chart for 12 weeks, which I felt was long enough, now we're looking at double that recently especially this year!!!!

And Martin, i think the new entry thing is just something that is annoyingly dependant on the person, but because Fearne and Reggie probably couldnt count the number of places a record could climb, cos they are SO stupid and don't give a jot about the charts just their wages, like the distance between 50 and 35 that its proabbly eaier for them to call it a new entry :P :o

I have no idea why people are acting like what always happens with McFly is unique to them  There are LOADS of bands who have fanbase singles, how many other acts sell 28,000 physicals these days anyway?
How far does anyone think Abba Gold will go this time? Can't see it making No.1 like in 1999. It made No.4 in 2004 as it probably will this week. Will it go any higher?

I wonder if my prediction on Mcfly comming #21 this week will come true? :o

I could be the next Mystic Meg. :drama:

This really gets me every week, everything that is in the top 40 is new, when its not Usher was #35 last week, Darren Styles was #41 last week etc etc, any track that enters the top 75 is new, anything that creeps up in the top 40 from the previous week even if it's Top 75 it's not new it's a climber. Just because Radio 1 says it's a new entry every blinking Sunday. Radio 1 posts a top 40 every week and they make up their own rules, if I go to Launch website they post a top 75 every week.

So the logic has to be a climber. So in theory there is only 1 new entry this week inside the top 40 so far..., am I right or wrong.

They aren't new but they're new TO the top 40 therefore the top 40 has three new songs...

Huge fall for McFly! I hope Ting Tings can get Top 5 by Sunday.

Me too! I expected top 3 for this song!

Exactly.

I've tried explaining it several times though to no avail, so don't strain yourself. :(

I thought McFly would have stayed in the top 10 this week, it makes me wonder how well they would have charted with just one 2 track cd available.
Exactly.

Agreed!

Radio One though, are not (never were) allowed to speak of positions, outside the top 40. That has always been the case. Even their printed charts page (that does list the complete top 75), has a note on it saying "The positions 41 - 75, are not to be announced on air. They are listed for producers purposes, only".

Previous to May 1978 (when Radio One, only rundown the top 30 and only a top 50 was printed), the note read "Positions 41 - 50, must not be referred to on air".

Obviously (when the BBC compiled their own charts 1957 - 69), this didn`t apply because they only ever compiled a top 30, anyway.

Exactly the same on Album charts (except the BBC didn`t follow an Album top 30, until Feb 69). This had a slightly different ruling, to those printed in Music Week/Record Mirror, because all budget albums featured in the BBC top 30 albums. It was November 1975, when the album chart, of Music Week/RM first matched Radio One`s. Then, of course Compilation albums (Various Artists), were removed from the main Chart in 1989 (amidst many complaints, to this day).

Someone asked me recently "What was the reason, for increasing the top 50 to a top 75, in 1978?" The real reason for that was because, by then "Record Business", were producing a top 120 (which was sold to Capital Radio, for broadcast nationwide on commercial stations, one week ahead of Radio One).

Aaaand the McFly bashing continues....

I don't think it's really fair TBH. They still have some fans on here and you all know what it's like when people are bashing the artists you like. And now people are all of a sudden interested in 'The Biggest Fall from number 2 etc.. etc...' when we could have talked about that whilst we were talking about the biggest fall from number 1 the other week etc...

[/rant]

I agree, cut them some slack. im not exactly a fan myself but they do have fans and it must be hard for them. they are not a download type of band and they rely completely on physicals and its no wonder they drop like a stone. and if people were to start ranting and ravin about your favourite artists you wouldn't like it. i feel so sorry for mcfly tbh

GI2M has fallen another place today to #10, 4 Mins is down 6 from last Sunday's position, and Hard Candy is the same position as yesterday.
