'Gold' was number 1 on its original release in 1992, and then again in 1999 when it was re-issued - the re-issue corrected a few errors with the first version, and coincided with the Mamma Mia musical opening in London, along with that 'Thank ABBA For The Music' song featuring Steps and the like singing their versions of ABBA songs. Ashamedly I still have the video of that recorded off 'The Box' when I was 10...

The current version available in stores is the '30th Anniversary' version from 2004. When that was released it peaked at number 4 in April, and then returned to the top 40 in December as everyone bought it for Christmas.

How did the 1999 re-issue "correct a few errors" as the track-list was exactly the same. Were the track lengths slightly longer for some songs?

It was top 70 in Thurdays midweeks

could it be that just because of the itunes download of the CSF version of the "Now that Call I Music" CD, that it gets back in the Top 100

Certainly. All of the songs on Now 70 have been given a boost this week

From what I recall, 'Gold', by ABBA, mistakenly had Edited versions of

'The Name Of The Game' & 'Voulez Vous' put on it in 1992. (1993 in North

America - USA/Canada).

Also, the Sleeve Notes, (by John Tobler), had some errors in them.

In 1999, the proper - original length - versions of the 2 Songs were put on, &

Carl Magnus Palm wrote the Sleeve Notes - with no mistakes - rather than John Tobler.

Except in the USA, (& Canada?), where they never had any versions of 'Gold'

after 1993, so they still have the short versions of the 2 Tracks on theirs. (I have

seen American ABBA Fans discussing the proper versions of the 2 Songs, & they

call them 'Extended Versions'! In fact, they are the correct versions, & it is just

that the North American 'Gold' has edited versions on it!).

You are correct, because I bought the 1999 Remastered version.

But were the two Abba tracks that were edited more to do with the then maximum CD length running time (, as the 1999 Remastered versions runs to 78 mins 54 seconds); Because back in 1985 when the CD first became widely available in the high street the maximum CD running time was 74 minutes, but that has gradually crept up to the current 80 minutes maximum due to advances in reducing minimum engineering tolerances?
