I think the judges have been absolutely ridiculous in gymnastics - they're favoring China, undoubtedly. Even the commentators have noticed.

Also, it was CRAZY that Nastia Liukin and the little Chinese girl TIED and Nastia had to take silver. Stupid Australian judge. *curses*

What's more ridiculous is that the girl who won on the bars is 14, it's a well known in China and she doesn't have any proof to prove otherwise. She should be stripped of her medla but she won';t be....

i hope...

you cant see the golden league athletics on tv at all... the bbc cover domestic which is ok, eurosport often cover the minor athletics meets, but the major ones arnt on. this frustrates me, especially when you are watching a minor meet and the comentators are telling us how good the golden league meeting was..... <_<

you get to see the world swimming championships on eurosport and thats it.

no british championships, no minor level stuff, no european championships. Just the Olyimpics, Commies and worlds

weeeeeeeeee

we got another gold, kayaking ..

ouch... that bmx girl bombed whilst trying her best to get gold... pity..

Another disaster in the relay

And GB have been knocked out the boxing but get a bronze medal.

I have a feeling that Russia will overtake GB, they got a gold in the relay though i'm not sure whether that has been counted yet, but if it has then we're in 4th :(

She might be - her and Yang Yilin are having their year of birth investigated. If it turns out they were born in 1994 - as is being claimed - they'll have no choice but to have their medals rescinded. Which means that Beth Tweddle will win silver in the uneven bars.

And also, I'm half-Irish, so well done to them on getting (at worst) a silver. Even if he did beat a Brit to get it.

 14?.. so?... we have a 'boy diver' in the mens high diving... hes 14.. no secret..

we are still in 3rd, thanks to an aussie snatching first place in the mens pole vault off a russian :cheer:.

but if we finish in 4th (likely) or even 5th... thats still BLOODY GOOD GOING!

and when you take countries populations into consideration... we must be about top? , certainly its no disgrace being beaten by china, america, possibly russia as their populations are far greater then ours!

She's been exposed as a cheat by some internewt hacker I read in online in the guardian. Nothing will be done by the IOC.

Isn't the only sport China are cheating in :coffee:

You have to be 16 to compete in gymnastics. Different sport, different rules.

well i gathered that tbh, but didnt know it.

A bunch of cheats as well as a bunch of Human Rights abusers..... Yeah, I can really see the IOC leaping into action on this.... About as likely as them investigating these Gymnastics judges to see if they've been given "bungs" (something else which would hardly surprise me)....

China has done nothing but tarnish the image and reputation of the Olympics, breaking pledge after pledge that they made to the IOC... The damage may be irreversible... Perhaps 2012 might see a return of the true spirit, but I dunno, with all the controversy over spiralling costs and over-running on building contracts, we could conceivably still see the scaffolding and builders bum-cracks in the Opening Ceremony.... Hey, maybe we could make that part of the Ceremony.....

well i gathered that tbh, but didnt know it.

Yep, the ruling was changed in 1997 to protect the health and development of young girls.. Perfectly sensible if you ask me... Many of the young gymnasts who followed in the wake of Olga Korbut and Nadia Comaneci went on to suffer some serious health issues in later life...

chinese cheats indeed.... they buggered up our taekwondo girl who CLEARLY scored a 2 pointer over the chink ... she should have won that bout outright, not have to go to appeal with clear film evidence in order to get her re-instated. she got bronze but who knows... without that hasstle could have been more.

yep, slipped to 4th.... :( but thats still incredible!

I think the final events have finished now, but the BBC are only playing highlights. In that case we've finished with 47 or possible 48 (with the gymnastics thing) medals which is way above the target :cheer: . Despite that though, GB didn't do as well as expected in athletics.
I like the closing ceremony more than the opening ceremony. Its more natural and makes me feel like i want to be there.
Why oh Why did they ask Boris Johnson to come? Wouldn't it have been better and more traditional if someone like The Queen and collected the flag? :heehee: [He does make me laugh though. -_- ]

LOL how tack-ily cool was that? :o

The whole iconic-bus idea, then transforming into a hedge-cutten London Scene thing, and then Leona Lewis + Jimmy Page performing 'Whole Lotta Love'. Oh, and David Beckham. -_-

Whole Lotta Love was awful! Leona did OK with it but I didn't see the point! Jimmy Page looked pensionable. Beckham looked bored out of his skull.

But back to Boris - the scruffy slob could have at least buttoned his jacket up!

That was my first thought. He could have made an effort!
