August 14, 200816 yr Janos Baranyai, a Hungarian weightlifter dislocated his elbow in the weightlifting yesterday. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/00790/weight31308getty_790138c.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/08/13/article-1044235-02424D0700000578-546_468x344.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/08/13/article-1044235-02424D1300000578-830_468x314.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/08/13/article-1044235-02425DB600000578-380_468x286.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/08/13/article-1044235-02426BAB00000578-429_468x327.jpg
August 14, 200816 yr Urrgh thats disgusting :puke2: Thats really horrible i hope he's ok. Hungary seem to have a very good sports team on that note.
August 14, 200816 yr Now Venus AND Serena are out  I was surprised at that!! I thought they had the chance in going for a medal! (Aren't they doing doubles together though soon? ) And Gymnastics was awesome. :D I've never really noticed how much build the gymnasts actually have. :o And Athletics starts soon.
August 14, 200816 yr :o at the Weightlifting pics... Do you think it hurt?? :o Well, what do you think?
August 14, 200816 yr Author That must have hurt so much, the pain must have been VERY bad. I'm sure dislocating bones hurts more than breaking bones, so I can only imagine how much pain that guy must have been in.
August 15, 200816 yr Another broken promise from the Chinese authorities... How much more proof do you people need that these "games" are a fukkin' joke and the IOC is a disgrace.....? <_< The games aren't a disgrace. Just because CHINA could be considered a disgrace does NOT mean the games are. There are plenty of great people who have worked hard to make it there. You can't say the GAMES are a disgrace - China's political actions have nothing to do with the Olympics themselves. As for those weightlifting pics...omgah  I haven't seen ANY tennis or track and field or...well, anything other than swimming, gymnastics, a little basketball, and diving here. Oh, and a bit of water polo and canoeing or wtfever that was.
August 15, 200816 yr the tennis has been real odd.... the williams sisters, fedderer, even murray, great tennis pro's all out to... who?.. nice to see so many brits in the swimming finals.... filling last place!
August 15, 200816 yr OMG WE PWNED AT GYMNASTICS! Even with insane judges. So THERE. Nastia won gold and Shawn took silver! :cheer: :yahoo:
August 15, 200816 yr I'm looking forward to see swimming 100m butterfly tommorow morning. :cheer: Will Čavić stop Phelps to win 8 gold medals? :o Or Phelps was just saving himself for the final. Anyway, this will be exicting and I'm sure Serbia will have first medal tommorrow. :w00t: And what a suprise for Federer! :o Now great match is comming Djokovic - Nadal! :cheer:
August 15, 200816 yr I think its fair the whole country should pay for it, i mean its not as if The Isle Of Man will ever host it and its a national pride thing not just London, though of course its better for London excluding the cost. Have to disagree Harve! No way should the whole country pay for it (it is contributing anyway via the National Lottery). All other costs should come from London taxes and London businesses. All the regeneration will benefit one place in the long-run - London & The South - I can't see the North and Scotland and Wales being any better off. It is a pity the whole country didn't get behind when the bid was made by Manchester - but no - that was a pretty half-@rsed affair but when London pops into the equation - suddenly everyone must be a patriot. Just my opinion. Norma

There are plenty of great people who have worked hard to make it there. You can't say the GAMES are a disgrace - China's political actions have nothing to do with the Olympics themselves. Oh, GOD another one of the incredibly naive "keep politics and sport separate brigade".. Look mate, these games ARE a fukkin' disgrace and they are every bit as ethically and morally tainted as the Berlin '36 ones... But at least there you had Jesse Owens wiping the smug grin off Hitler's gob.... Perhaps if we had a TIBETAN athlete doing the same thing with Chinese, then you could say some good may come out of things, but realistically, that aint gonna happen... China should never have gotten these Games, simple as mate - Toronto and Paris BOTH put in the superior bids, as has been widely accepted, the Chinese broke promises over press freedom, smog and allowing people to gather and protest, smothering them in red-tape, bureaucracy and intimidation, they put pressure on Govts and Sports governing bodies to censure athletes from making any negative statements about Chinese policy in Tibet.... And you say these "games" aren't disgraceful..... You simply cannot divorce all this from the games themselves and treat them as separate happenings, one thing happens because of the other, cause and effect.... The Chinese have used these games for political capital, the IOC's ruling was political in its very nature, please, DO NOT spout such juvenile cr@p about these games being anything other than a shameful Political exercise to promote China, which has exploited both the Chinese people and the athletes taking part in them..... But that's fine mate, you just continue thinking "la la la, nothing happening" and bury your head in the sand, if you support these games by watching them you indirectly support the Chinese authorities, like it or not....
August 15, 200816 yr I think we're get a few medals in the pool later. Well maybe from Rebecca who could take away her 2nd gold..
August 15, 200816 yr Nahh, the Athletics is where its at. :D (Well where we could win most medals, not that we will.)
August 15, 200816 yr yep we should. kelly sothertons only 3rd, too much bigging up her gold medal chances me thinks. she could get gold... but it aint as likely as some thought. jo pavey got a pb in the 10,000 metres, but came 12th.
August 15, 200816 yr China should never have gotten these Games, simple as mate - Toronto and Paris BOTH put in the superior bids, as has been widely accepted, Look - we all know why China got these games: it was decided at the same IOC meeting that saw Samaranch replaced as IOC president by Rogge. Samaranch was apparently furious in 1993 when Sydney were awarded the Olympics in 2000 over Beijing.

Spot on. When will people learn that if you "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" that nothing will ever change. These Games ARE a disgrace. But from a 2012 perspectiive there have been plenty of c**k ups already to make it easier for the 2012 Games in London to be an improvement. 1. In two separate incidents two relatives of competing athletes have been murdered. (Imagine the outcry if that happened at the 2012 Games). 2. The actual opening ceremony saw a Chinese girl mime their national anthem; whilst it has been revealed that several of the fireworks displays were SFX fakery. (Imagine the outcry if a UK Government pulled off that stunt). 3. Allegations regarding several of the Chinese gymnastics have forged passports showing their age to be above the legal competing age of 16. When American investigations have shown that 4 of their Gymnasts are younger than 16 and therefore should not be eligible to compete in an event where a younger person has an unfair advantage. 4. Several farcical boxing decisions in favour of Chinese Boxers. 5. No itineries/programmes provided in any of the stadia regarding who is competing in what events at what times. 6. Then you have the ridiculous heavy handed security that is causing delays in reporters/journalists/commentators from arriving on time to cover the events they are there for.
