August 11, 200816 yr I'm not a Cliff fan by any means, but I hope he manages it!! He's been saying since the start of the 2000s that he would love to make it 6 decades in a row, and he would have made it in December 2006 with "21st Century Christmas" if downloads had not just been included a while previously! He clearly wants it bad, so I won't begrudge him if he gets it :P Sadly I can see him just falling short.
August 15, 200816 yr Well here it is! It's pure cheese....but aww go on let him have his silly number one. w8-iIJblnO8
August 16, 200816 yr At least he evidently cares about the singles chart. I'd be happy to see him achieve it.
September 3, 200816 yr I am quite worried that THIS is being overlooked! I think it could suprise everyone and be No.1 next week!!! It's only on sale at Woolworths, but you can't move for the "cough" 'seniours' in my local one! I'm sure they'll be buying this at the basket load! :puke2:

I'm of a certain age and I'm quite pleased to say that I have never, ever even been tempted to buy a Cliff Richard record! Norma

September 3, 200816 yr 65+..... ;) You're just saying that so I won't beat you around the head with my pension book! Seriously though - I can't see pensioners going out spending their Steradent money just to keep Cliffie in the chart! Norma
September 3, 200816 yr You're just saying that so I won't beat you around the head with my pension book! Seriously though - I can't see pensioners going out spending their Steradent money just to keep Cliffie in the chart! Norma Hey, im sorry to have caused any offence! I'm sure you are a very young looking....old person.. ;) as for Cliff, OK the pensioners may not go out of their way to buy his CD, but he has ALOT of crazy fans (young..ish & old) to do his dirty work! BTW I DO NOT WANT IT TO HAPPEN, so I will stop now, and not draw any more attention to this abismal song! <_<
September 4, 200816 yr I really can't see him doing it but if he does good luck to him although I think downloads will be what lets him down. Can you imagine the chart run if he does make it to #1 - It will be like a McFly release, Over hyped first week and then quickly disappearing  I can see it now....1-13-44-72
September 4, 200816 yr I now wish he got his #1 earlier in the decade, then we wouldn't keep having him trying with worse and worse singles! He should re-release Mistletoe and Wine for christmas, then stands a better chance at least, and its not that bad in a christmas/cheesy way. And you just know, if he does make it with this release, they'll be a release in 2009 ready for the next decade!
September 4, 200816 yr I think he might be after the G.A.Y. audience as well after this: Sir Cliff discusses priest "companion" Thursday, September 4 2008, 12:18 BST Digitalspy.com By Alex Fletcher, Entertainment Reporter Sir Cliff Richard has spoken out about his "companion" Father John McElynn, with whom he has lived for seven years. The pop singer, 67, who has been the subject of numerous rumours concerning his sexuality, talks about McElynn in his new book My Life, My Way. Richard met the 53-year-old American while on holiday in New York, which prompted the priest to take a year out of working for the Church. "John and I have over time struck up a close friendship," says Richard. "He has also become a companion, which is great because I don't like living alone, even now. "People often make the mistake of thinking that only marriage equals happiness. I may suddenly meet someone and feel differently, but right now I am not sure marriage would enhance my happiness." Commenting on speculation that he may be gay, the popstar writes: "As for my sexuality, I am sick to death of the media's speculation about it. "What business is it of anyone else's what any of us are as individuals?" On the subject of gay marriage, he adds: "Same-sex marriages are perhaps a modern example of how things have changed. "I think the Church must come round and see people as they are now. Gone are the days when we assumed loving relationships would be solely between men and women." Is it me or is that the sound of the closet door opening?.......
September 4, 200816 yr It's the sound of Cliff Richard stating his Christian position on some of the issues that are causing serious issues between us. Personally, I think what he is saying is totally true. I think the guy is somewhat asexual - he doesn't get pleasure from sexual relationships. I know of a situation where a man and a woman live together and have done for many years whilst never being a couple, just being good friends. I think the same is true of Sir Cliff and Father John.
September 7, 200816 yr OK. Realistically how many sales does he need to do this? It's so far removed from contemporary but there is a small very loud part of me that actually wants him to do this! I think of it this way. I doubt Katy Perry cares whether she makes it 6 weeks at #1 in the UK as opposed to 5. With Cliff I think he cares a great deal about this! It's a shame Richard and Judy ended a couple of weeks back, as it would probably be a good way to promote the single and autobiography, which I would predict he'll be doing in full force this week. He will probably fall painfully short, but I do wish him luck in doing this, and may even buy a copy. He should have made it a charity single though.
September 8, 200816 yr OK. Realistically how many sales does he need to do this? at least 40k, probably nearer 60k

Big UKMIX Admin , expresses opinions on Buzzjack  Cheers Matthew, nice having you around on a main forum where I can post too -_- Cliff's mainly songs are boooring, but I have to mention I quite like some of his songs  xox.
September 8, 200816 yr Well if our Woolies is anything to go by he has no chance. I know the lass on entertainment and she says they've sold some but not as many as they'd expected to today. Should have been Tesco only then he may have had a chance.
September 8, 200816 yr If he'd actually bothered to promote the release then he could easily have done this. He has the fanbase, but he hasn't utilised it to his advantage here. A Cliff special on ITV - for instance - could have bagged him the #1 with ease. Plus our Woolworths has a big display of unpriced singles on it. How many fans are going to take an unpriced single to the counter? Top 3 at best now I reckon.
