Island are Evil :)

Hopefully if this album keeps going the way i think it will (See Real Girl's Chart Run) then they may just drop them and they can sign onto a label that gives a $h!te.

mind you with their managers i highly doubt they'll find a label thats any better -_-

The new Christmas ad Boots will be using features the 'Babes version of Girls, not Ernie's, so that's more exposure...

The TV ad now also mentions and plays a clip of Like A Star, which has been a hit so I guess that's good too.

AND it's down to £9 in HMV now like other albums, instead of being ridiculously overpriced.

glad about the HMV thing. I mean case in point. The album was £8.97 on release week in Woolworths and at #4 in their chart, and £6.71 in Asda and at #3 in their chart, so it's obvious to me that it costing more than other albums has had an impact (vs. #8 in the official total sales chart). Hopefully Zavvi will follow suit, perhaps this will help it recover a little for Sunday. I really thought when the sales came down last week "oh well, it's more of a grower of an album anyway", and that Girls maybe didn't make people rush out and have to have the album immediately. But Girls is still selling quite well and getting airplay (also heard it used a few times on TV, companies seem to like it) so i thought sales for C&S may be lower, but sustained. This kind of drop is very disappointing.

On the issue of Island, i don't think they do a particularly great job of promoting the babes, and they never seem to work hard to push things that extra bit. I think there's a certain amount of complacency surrounding the Sugababes brand now that they are several LPs in and their albums always sell well. Hopefully this can serve as a wake up call for them to realise they have to spend the money on the 'babes to realise good sales, rather than seeing them as a sure bet with low costs for ++profits.

They've apparently already signed the next album deal and based on past performance don't see Island dropping them or the band quitting, but it's time the finger was pulled out. The saddest bit of this whole thing is they have produced a good, consistent album, and i haven't seen a single review yet which didn't think this album was better than Change (despite it having AYN which generally garnered positive reviews).

On that topic, heard second hand that The Metro review gave C&S 2 stars today, saying it was better than Change but still pretty "meh"/typical sugababes. Bit annoying!

Ok, rant over. i feel better!

Sugababes take to the tills in Boots

The Sugababes have taken time out from promoting new album Catfights and Spotlights to work the tills in Boots.

The trio spent this afternoon at London's newest shopping centre Westfield, where they manned tills in support of the White Ribbon Alliance charity.

For each customer served, Boots donated £5 to the charity. The Sugababes also donated 10p from every sale of their album in the store, which was matched by the retailer.

The group's reworking of Ernie K. Doe's 'Girls', which made it to number three in the UK chart earlier this month, is about to be used in the Boots Christmas advert.

lol

i think that Island have done too little too late, but still think the album will do well in the long run!

Good about the boots thing! Hopefully that cant help it at least a little!

oh bloody hell.

*edit*

:cheer:

Oh thank god for EHB, finally a good decision has been made about this era.
im shocked by the albums fall in ireland this week falling 24 places but on saying that kylie's X had the same feat it went 14-39 but after that it started to have a steady chart run so thta may happen here also

Let's hope so!

Catfights is #20 in the 'almost saturday' midweek chart things when you remove the compilation CDs ahead of it.

I thought compliation CDs aren't allowed in the normal chart.

Exactly... the saturday chart includes them which is why you need to remove the ones above it to find out it's position.
