OVER 2 MILLION ON A SUNDAY

Amazing:

Oh my god. That was her Joss Stone moment! It feels like she might've lost a fair bit of support after that.

The arrangement on Poker Face was good, but her frankly scary grunts and moans were just... not good. Perhaps if she'd wanted to experiment like that she could've done it on tour, but on national TV? It felt like she'd lost the plot. And what made her decide to play up to her freak persona like that in the interview I don't know. What the HELL were the weird neck movements all about?! It felt like she was acting shy too, in an utterly false sort of way, and on top of that she was being totally awkward with one-word answers. 'Are you popular elsewhere? Europe, Japan?' 'Yes'. Just... not a good look.

You are actually closer to the truth than you think.

Personally I absolutely loved the interview, as a pure artistic statement it more interesting than 99% of Record Company PR controlled to within an inch of their lives puppets popstars on the planet today. Even if it has been all done before.

For those who don't know Lady GaGa's all time favourite artist is David Bowie. Which happens to be the all time favourite artist of Jonathan Ross.

Back in 1974 David Bowie was the biggest new artist on the planet however he generally did not do chatshows much, as he had a rather legendary contempt in the UK when being interviewed by idiots; but equally could be charming, intelligent and graceful when being interviewed by someone who knew there stuff and gave him the respect or humour his talent deserved. However he built up a reputation for shocking people.

One such occasion was his first ever Stateside Prime Time Friday Night interview on the then biggest chatshow in America at the time hosted by Dick Cavett:

David found Dick Cavett's introduction (in the first video) that he thought (as he has said since) "if you want freaky I'll give you freaky" and preceded to give a truly memorable interview, as you will see from the cringeworthy second video.

It is against this background that Ms GaGa and Jonathan Ross have created in my view a "win win" situation for both parties. That will be a "water cooler moment" in offices next week.

Certainly Jonathan Ross was happy with the interview on his Twitter account:

"Am somewhat bemusd by general reaction to Lady Gaga last night! I loved her and thought it was fun, in a deliberately strange way. Oh well.."

"She was cool and funny and I did my Donatella Versace mpersonation for her. Might be cut out though !"

"Lady Gaga performing live ! It was awesome !"

"Yes. IMHO I think one of the best. This week and Lionel Richie/Vin Diesel/MichaelSheen/Sparks have been the best this series :)"

"She was so good wasn't she. Can't wait to see full live show. Had a chat in dressingroom afters - she had on 3rd spectacular outfit."

"She was nice. And funny. i liked her and will have her back on for sure."

slightly off topic, but I love the way the CD single of Poker Face has a sticker saying 'the huge #1 single' or something to that effect!

who ever thought they'd see the day that CD singles could display these facts!

I was just wondering as i've been researching on the web that she could be a shemale. Also i hear rumours she can't sing but that i strongly disagree with. Just seen the accoustic pokerface video.

Edited by KJ Rob N Rolla

^ Oh no I've heard things about the shemale, but it's just a big rumour and she was being sarcastic when she said she used to have a penis apparently. :/

Well thats relief  because i was actually believing it. It is a shame she got slated for just this performance. However looking at some other interviews she has been almost the same :o. Wonder what she'll be like on Grady show :D. Hope she turns it around

What interviews have you been watching because I've never seen her like that. She's always been normal like here:

WTF she's as normal as anyone there. :o So she must be either been very high on something or acting on JR and some other interviews :o

Watching the interview back, it's not as cringey as I remembered. Some of JR's questions were stupid and I think he was rude to mention the man thing and she looked genuinely hurt by it. She was never going to understand the Ant and Dec reference either.

from my views she was came across very cute and lovely but yeah very hurt. I found JR's comments funny but very unpleasant

I dont thnk its nearly as bad as everyone made out. Sure she wasnt herself and some of the answers very cringey but like Ethereal said JR shouldnt have made the man reference and asked such daft questions which she clearly wouldn't understand.

It really didnt help that the audience didnt quite get her and she totally knew most were laughing at her. I was so pissed off with everyones reaction :kink:

She owned them all with donkey dick though!

Hmm...I thought she might have been doing something like this. I just don't know if people can get away with doing that these days, pop artists are much more disposable now. Perhaps it wasn't a wise move to do this on her first UK TV interview as the general public wont know how she actually is yet. Only time will tell if it was a good move or if she's shot herself in the foot. It's all good being 'an artist' but you need people to buy your records. He may have been happy with the interview, but it's obviously caused a stir with the public.

Yeah that's all well and good but that was just another thing that annoyed me - JR asked her if she had any inspirations in her look/sound and she said no I'm original. In other interviews she mentioned Bowie and Christina Aguilera, so to say that no one inspired her, to me was quite irritating and did nothing for her to get back into my good books

I actually think she was quite intimidated and nervous. Correct me if I'm wrong, but she hasn't done many TV interviews before. And she didn't quite get Johnathan's humour. In fact, I wondered at points if she understood him at all.

Apart from that, I thought she was bright, sparky and fairly impressive. If she survives another five years in the industry, she will be a brilliant Grace Jones style interviewee then - I hope :)

Well I watched this on youtube and she really has went down in my estimation sadly. I just thought it was pretty pathetic and sad to watch.

It's like she is going all out to try and be different, weird, kooky, eccentric etc and it just come across as a massive farce. She was all those things with her music/lyrics without having to feel the need to give STUPID interviews.

I agree with Etheral nearly ALL the other interviews I've seen her give she has come across as a normal, grounded and nice girl.

Fake.Fake.Fake. f*** you Gaga.

How weird, it's like watching two different people (and I know which one I prefer) ^

Shame, it's almost attractive seeing her when she's not making an ass of herself (whether she's making an artistic statement or not). Meh the performance was funny though, it was like she was doing a weird Prince/Steven Tyler/Mick Jagger combo impression. :heehee:

Agree with everything you've said here.

Totally shocked by this  She's like a different person in this interview, so ignorant and coming across like she's high above. The performance was dire too, I hated the screaming bits. She was obviously trying to make it sound a bit different but it didn't work at all. The whole thing was $h!t basically.

I LOVED the performance  The arrangement had more guitars and live drumming, so it's only fair she let her rock chick side out. If this was Pink, noone would object :) I will agree that the Australian interview is better. She says about the same things here though, I still think she was intimidated and confused by Jonathan.
