Posted September 7, 200816 yr On beating Nadal in the US Open semi-final!! Was such a good match yesterday/today. Exceptional tennis from both Nadal and Murray - the best ever match i've ever seen Murray play. I really fancy him to beat Federer tomorrow too... should be an interesting final to say the least.
September 7, 200816 yr I've spent the last 90 minutes watching it, as I did yesterday evening. With this result Andy Murray has proved thast he is a better Tennis player than Tim Henman ever was, whilst he should thank his lucky stars that Max Mosley does not control the sport of Tennis.
September 8, 200816 yr I would love to be able to see this tonight, alas I don't have Sky Sports so never mind. :manson: I'll have to make do with Five Live.
September 8, 200816 yr Shame he's such a c**t... The only British Sportsman I can think of I won't ever support.
September 8, 200816 yr Author Shame he's such a c**t... The only British Sportsman I can think of I won't ever support. To be fair to him, he's lowered his tone a lot of late.
September 8, 200816 yr Congrats! to him! but it means not much in history if he doesn't win now. Runners up are rarely remembered. Except in Britain where we cling onto any hope we can  Federer's had that little bit more time to recover for the final too. But if you can beat Nadal, and beat Djokovic before the Olympics in the Masters Final, then Federer is definitely beatable! Just goes to show how much Murray cared about the Olympics
September 8, 200816 yr he's scottish why would i want him to win? Funny, I often feel the same way about Sir Alex Ferguson. If he wins (which I think he won't as Roger Federer has shown in this tournament that he is finally getting over the pre-season virus that has affected him all year, and has crucially had an extra day's rest, I would not be surprised to see that McKevin the Teenager Andrew Murray played his final in the Semi's to defeat Nadal), then for me he simply has to win Sports Personality Of The Year.
September 8, 200816 yr Author If Murray wins, then Sports Personality could be come very interesting. I always thought Chris Hoy would get it, or maybe Rebecca Addlington, but if Murray wins, then his name will have to be thrown into the mix too... is a massive achivement if he wins the US Open.
September 8, 200816 yr Andy Murray is a bit of a c**k  but i have to say he's a good tennis player. I won't support him anymore than i would support anyone else of a completely foreign nationality because he hates the English so much. -_- I really don't want him to win Sports Personality award at all <_<
September 8, 200816 yr Manchester United aren't :D Very true they are American owned. God bless the U.S of A. :D Anyway Murray has lost the first set & is a break down in the second, looking like a pale imitation of the player who demolished Nadal so it is looking all irrelevent.
September 8, 200816 yr all over, Federer played very well.. Not sure about Sports Personality, Andy Murrey is a terrible personality ! and unless everything is going his way tends to sulk instead of face up to things.
September 9, 200816 yr Author Murray was good last night, it was just Federer was twice as good. He looks to be back in form now, and he countered Murray's game so well. I reckon he'll be back to being World #1 next year.
September 9, 200816 yr Sadly Hamilton will win Sports Personality for winning the F1 title this season not that the arrogant oaf has any personality Murray did well but Greg Rusedski got to a US Open final once and did sod all else in his career so let's not get too excited yet
September 9, 200816 yr Sadly Hamilton will win Sports Personality for winning the F1 title this season not that the arrogant oaf has any personality Murray did well but Greg Rusedski got to a US Open final once and did sod all else in his career so let's not get too excited yet Since when as having the same self confidence of A Senna & M Schumacher and the raw driving talent to match been a handicap? However, after Sunday's F1 decision Massa is as good as F1 champion for 2008 (certainly the flood of (cynical) bets taken since then suggest so). Secondly, Murray is a different animal to Rusedski or Henmen, as he seems to possess the same will to win that the less talented Rusedski had, and the same class as "nice but" Tim Henman had in there heyday, and he is only 21 (in the same way the too many people forget that Lewis Hamilton is only in his second season in F1, and unless having a pop star girlfriend sways him like it did to Jacque Villeneuve then I think provided he maintains that hunger that he currently has then he will go down as one of the all-time greats as he has already proved this season that he is no one season wonder out-driving the superior Ferrari package in 2008. Thirdly, I think it is a two horse battle for the Sports Personality Of The Year of 2008 between Olympians Rebecca Adlington & Chris Hoy as the awards are on the BBC. Ladbrokes Current Odds: Rebecca Adlington 5/4 Fav Chris Hoy 2/1 Lewis Hamilton 3/1 Ben Ainslie 20/1 Bradley Wiggins 25/1 Christine Ohuruogu 25/1 Andrew Murray 25/1 Rebecca Romero 33/1 Victoria Pendleton 50/1 Kevin Pietersen 66/1 James DeGale 66/1 Joe Calzaghe 66/1 100/1 bar
September 9, 200816 yr Author Yeah Murray's completely different to both Henman and Rusedski - he's a much better player than both of them. Unless he has any sort of major injuries, then I don't think it's beyond his doing that he could challange for a Grand Slam next year, and the Top 3 could be increased to a Top 4...
