September 28, 200816 yr Can i just say that i think people got me wrong as i have nothing against the pippetes atall. I just dont see why people think GA would want to copy them thats all.

The videos are similar, so its natural for people to compare. I thought of the Pipettes when I saw the video for The Promise too!
September 28, 200816 yr You are fond of sweeping statements! Translation: YOU don't care about MTV, not no-one cares about MTV in the UK. No, i LOVE it! Give me The Hills and Brooke Knows Best all day long! Im making a judgement based on stats. Many people have lost faith in MTV since it has stopped showing pure music video's and have moved over to The Box and The Hits, plus it gets hardly any viewers (especially compared to the likes of BBC1, C4 and even ITV2 and Sky One).

MTV still has a fair bit of influence over here though. Hardly any cable/sky channels get the audience of BBC1-Channel 4 though, so that's not a fair comparison.
September 28, 200816 yr Dear god the Girls Aloud fans on this forum are enough to put anyone off no matter the quality of their work  It really is quite cringeworthy to read. I agree! I Hope I'm not in that bunch though :(
September 28, 200816 yr MTV One's premier showing of VMA's 2008 reached a mere 153,000 people. Compare that to BBC3's repeat of Eastenders which received over 1 million viewers and even a repeat of Tracey Beaker on the CBBC channel reaching over 300k and its nothing! The EMA's itself and even MTV doesnt gain much viewership or attention and therefore doesnt have much effect on the charts. Edited September 28, 200816 yr by coolnav

But you can get BBC3 AND the CBBC channel on Freeview whereas MTV1 is only available on Sky and Cable ;) and Freeview is the most popular digital service in the UK! September 28, 200816 yr The videos are similar, so its natural for people to compare. I thought of the Pipettes when I saw the video for The Promise too! Ahhh well i'm really sorry, i just thought some people were trying to pull the video down for no reason. I honestly dont have anything against them. But yeh, i still dont necessarily think GA would want to copy anyone as such.
September 28, 200816 yr Discovery - DEADLIEST CATCH (Tue 21:01) 216k Dave - LIVE AT THE APOLLO (Tue 21:40) 532k E4 - HOLLYOAKS (Tue 19:00) 911k Hallmark - LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT (Mon 21:00) 219k But you can get BBC3 AND the CBBC channel on Freeview whereas MTV1 is only available on Sky and Cable That further proves my point that the upcoming EMA's wont have much effect at all on the UK charts. Its not that i dont like MTV or even the EMA's, just that they dont get many viewers and therefore wont have the effect of X Factor and SCD on the charts. Edited September 28, 200816 yr by coolnav

September 28, 200816 yr Can i just say that i think people got me wrong as i have nothing against the pippetes atall. I just dont see why people think GA would want to copy them thats all. Well it's like saying why would Christina basically mimic Lady GaGa's style - Christina has sold millions of records and has had a career for a decade whereas Lady GaGa is just a new rising talent with minor success so far. The fact is, Christina did copy her and a lot of people have picked up on it. You could say Girls Aloud have done the same by copying The Pipettes, they're not a big act commercially but a lot of people are still aware of who they are. I don't think Girls Aloud have directly ripped of The Pipettes, it's just an obvious link when you have a retro looking girl band in the video. I'm just saying that just because the artist is much smaller than them, doesn't mean they would never consider copying their style.
September 28, 200816 yr ^^ that ramming to some people is called being passionate. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

Though it still wouldnt surprise me if the producer of the video had never heard of the pipettes because i think GA have just gone with a sound and look thats very in right now.
September 28, 200816 yr If you really need so , Sugababes appeared on Strictly Come Dancing after the single had charted at 8.
September 28, 200816 yr If you really need so , Sugababes appeared on Strictly Come Dancing after the single had charted at 8. It's a Girls Aloud thread for f***s sake! Are you that dumb that you can't UNDERSTAND it?
September 28, 200816 yr If you really need so , Sugababes appeared on Strictly Come Dancing after the single had charted at 8. Whats that got to do with GA? Is there any wonder there is rivalry.
September 28, 200816 yr ^^ that ramming to some people is called being passionate. Nothing wrong with that IMO. Theres passion, then theres ramming it down peoples throat and correcting their opinions when it's not necessary really. And O RLY at someone daring mentioning Sugababes in a Girls Aloud thread, I've never seen a Girls Aloud fan mention Girls Aloud in a Sugababes thread. :/ I'm not a fan of eithers new song but the comparions are so stupid, the only thing they have in comparison is that they're a girl group and make pop music? Strange that some fans insist on putting this rivalry [which there is none of] between GA and Sugas.
September 28, 200816 yr Yeh but i never understand why there needs to be rivalry anyway. GA play at arenas and only get top tens, why on earth would they need to prove their success to anyone. Other acts can just get on with what they want, i dont really care. And i also dont see how you are seperating the being passionate and ramming down peoples throats issue? And i also dont see how you are seperating the being passionate and ramming down peoples throats issue? thats so a sneaky dig as the Sugas have missed top 10 b4! But far as i know the bands get on well they did a song together ffs and lots of people like them both, but due to the fact they are both UK female pop bands i think the fans who like one more have rivalry with one another rather than the bands!
