March 15, 20178 yr Author Thank you Jade, I appreciate it! Mutual appreciation of entries, woop woop *.*
July 2, 20178 yr Author 'Ankara' managed to achieve 11th place a few contests ago, which is my third best result in a regular contest so woop! And now we're BACK with this piece: PfG_G2O2q40 World's End Girlfriend is a Japanese composer with an eclectic mix of styles. This particular instrumental caught my ear (and the video my eye x) a few months ago. It was an early potential for the Japan vs South Korea spin-off but we opted for Ferri's 'Lost Sanctuary' instead which came a pleasing 4th place - let's see how this one fares in the regular contest B-)
July 5, 20178 yr Oh yessss *.* I am so floored by your comeback once again, this is so crazy and wonderful, may Deandria not go astray again after this contest please!
July 5, 20178 yr Author So you should be :D The plan worked~ As for life after this contest, I have a couple of songs in mind that I'd like to send perhaps so watch this space! They're completely different from this one (but then, this was a really unique find so it makes sense they would be different haha), I love switching things up.
July 30, 20177 yr Author Result: 26th with 146 points. Thank you to all the supporters  For BJSC 97, we've gone for A_GIM - RAJKA (feat. Klark), a track I previously described as "claustrophobic electronica", what with its beats that both thump and clitter. A_GIM is basically Agim Dżeljilji, a Polish musician. This particular track features lyrics by Klark, who is also the vocalist here, bringing some rather ethereal vocals. We do enjoy having cool music videos for many of our entries and this is no exception. Quite a trip for both the ears and the eyes. Y36fDAXwXC4 Edited July 30, 20177 yr by M.
July 31, 20177 yr Author Agim Djelili, are you sure he is not albanian lol lol could be, maybe just resides in Poland. Several sources connect him to Poland. (do you like the song xx)
August 7, 20177 yr I'm disappointed this didn't qualify. I was in the other semi. I would have given it big points in the final.
August 7, 20177 yr I was kind of hoping I'd like this more based on your description but still one of the better songs in your semi (I do really like the video too) and it did grow on me on second listen, shame it didn't make it. Might have been better off in semi 1 as well. I'm still interested to hear your hip-hop potential entry, perhaps you could still share it in here ;o (unless you're still holding onto it for a future contest).
August 7, 20177 yr Author Thanks folks! I'm still interested to hear your hip-hop potential entry, perhaps you could still share it in here ;o (unless you're still holding onto it for a future contest). why here u go: XmJc_k-l0pY While I still enjoy the track, something about it just didn't quite click as a Deandria entry once I had confirmed it. I think the last time (before 'Lianer') I confirmed something after discovering it that same day was with Maya's Moving Castle which I ended up sort of criticizing after confirming it lmao (although it did grow on me again, apart from the video which still makes me laugh for some reason), goes to show that maybe it's just not the best idea for me to enter things I've discovered a couple hours ago haha. August 7, 20177 yr LOVED ur entry this month :( i know i haven't rly given u many points but it's cos all ur best entries dnq
August 7, 20177 yr Author LOVED ur entry this month :( i know i haven't rly given u many points but it's cos all ur best entries dnq Thanks, I saw the 8 points and appreciated it *.* My fav entries of mine change according to the moon phase my mood lmao. I used to consider it to be 'Alchemy' which *shock horror* wasn't even a DNQ but an AQ, but I think it may have some strong competition now :P y'know what, f*** it, it's all about 'Alchemy'..........
August 8, 20177 yr why here u go: XmJc_k-l0pY While I still enjoy the track, something about it just didn't quite click as a Deandria entry once I had confirmed it. Thanks! I quite predictably love this song and probably would have voted it very highly if I had a chance to, reminds me quite a lot of Aron Can, fair enough if you weren't getting behind it enough though of course (and I guess it probably wouldn't have done a lot better than 'Rajka' especially with me not being in your semi this time :drama:) (Actually I've given 'Rajka' another couple of listens and it's clicked more with me now - I think it was just a bit more subtle and grower-y than I expected. Another very solid entry anyway <3)
August 28, 20177 yr Author BJSC 98 // AaRON - Blouson Noir Because the world does not belong to us Because we're nothing, leftovers Because we are tumbleweeds on roads Because we are every lost, dashing, shadow Because we're poems on sidewalks Because you are the needle in my arm We are equals. We are mirrors We cut the night X91S0C7nmiY We go for a French artist for the gazillionth (well, third) time this year - and going back further, we also sent a French artist once last year and once before that about a gazillion years ago (I do like that word today folks, can't say why). So this is the fifth overall. In addition, we also had a song by a Japanese artist but with a French title recently, as well as an Unknown Pleasures entry sung in French somewhere in the midst of all this. What can I say about this song... It popped out to me as a related video of a different song and I had it sitting in a playlist for ages. It was one of those songs that I always just seemed to have hidden away in a very large playlist but didn't really listen to it. One day I decided to re-listen to it and was pretty blown away by the synth-heavy electronic production, subtle vocal line and interesting black and white video clip! Hope you enjoy etc. <3
September 5, 20177 yr Author We qualified against ALL the odds! A grand total of 0/8 predix for Deandria were registered, but they were all wrong :kink: To be honest, when I confirmed this song, I did think it had a better than usual chance of qualifying than a lot of my other entries, but then when all the bottom 10 odds and DNQ predictions were coming in, I became convinced that my intuition had failed me this time! Turns out it was correct in the first place though - thanks so much for voting for AaRON! Just as a side note, I feel as though this track fits nicely amongst my entries as from my own estimation, Deandria's general sound overview seems to be some sort of electronic-ness which sometimes makes its way into electropop (this track is an example of that, I'd say), flirts with alternative r&b and hip-hop leanings (there is a trace of that in this tune as well!), and, among other things, occasionally brings some rock-influenced songs such as 'Until Eternity' and 'Undercover Girls'. We like to embrace different genres but as the captain of this particular ship, I'm starting to get a better bird's-eye view of our own entries and the connections between them, something that is very intriguing to muse about. Ciao! Edited September 6, 20177 yr by M.
September 23, 20177 yr Author BJSC 99 // Solarstone with Giuseppe Ottaviani - Falcons OHigqq_XOfg we go euphoric trance
September 23, 20177 yr YESSS I saw and listened to this whilst browsing for trance recently, such a great song <3
September 24, 20177 yr Author Aw it's nice to get some hype already, thanks Rob. This is a bit different for me but what can I say, a good trance tune is a good trance tune <3
October 25, 20177 yr Author BJSC 100 ~ // Alvia Islandia - Sugar Complex Kjt0THoFuxc This is Deandria's entry for the big 100. It's an Icelandic artist / rapper / kooky girl backed up by production from KSF. Found in a YouTube playlist of Iceland Airwaves, let's see how the trap / drum and bass influenced song fares for us in this iconic contest. and yes it's growing on me again lmao. I mentioned somewhere that after confirming, I had lost a lot of the excitement for this entry (similarly to when I sent Maya's Moving Castle last year - thank goodness that re-grew on me as well) but I kinda like that I sent something so fun for the 100th contest. This is the first time Deandria have sent an Icelandic artist, despite liking quite a few artists from the country.
