October 10, 200816 yr Looks like both candidates have pissed off some of the USA rock stars :D Foos fight McCain over song use US rock band the Foo Fighters have told John McCain to stop using song My Hero in his presidential campaign, saying it "tarnishes" the track. The band said it had been "appropriated without our knowledge". But a Republican spokesman said the party had licences to play "millions of different songs". Acts including Heart have all asked Mr McCain to stop using their songs, while soul singer Sam Moore has asked the same of Democrat rival Barack Obama. The Foo Fighters, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, said they found out their song was being used through reports. Cease-and-desist The band said in a statement: "The saddest thing about this is that My Hero was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. "To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song." Republican spokesman Brian Rogers said the campaign "respects copyright". "Accordingly, this campaign has obtained and paid for licences from performing rights organisations, giving us permission to play millions of different songs, including My Hero." Earlier this month, Heart singers Ann and Nancy Wilson said they had sent a a cease-and-desist letter asking the Republicans not to use their 1977 track Barracuda. They called in lawyers after vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin used the track at a party rally. And, in August, it was announced that singer Jackson Browne, 59, was suing McCain for using his hit song Running on Empty in an advert for his campaign. Browne, who is seeking more than $75,000 (£40,000) in damages, claimed the advert was an infringement of copyright and will lead people to conclude he endorses McCain. The Republicans called the legal action a "big to-do about nothing". Source: BBC news I don't blame Grohl or the Wilsons for being p!ssed off, but unfortunately this is what happens when big corporartions control music, the artists themselves quite often find that they actually DO have little control over how their record companies choose to use their music... I hope they win their cases, but I get a bad feeling that the lawyers will find some bullsh!t sub-clause that backs McCain and the record companies.... And it's all very well for the Republicans to say that it's all a "big to do about nothing", but these people are absolute fukkin' hypocrites, they would be the first to moan if a reporter misquoted them or took a quote out of context, when they are actually doing precisely the same thing with these songs, particularly the Foos song which as Dave himself says, is a celebration of the common working class man, and it is being used by an upper-middle class, rich, out of touch white dude to win an election, talk about robbing the song of its meaning.... And a right-wing religious nutjob like Palin using a Heart song is just hilarious, it was people like her who accused the Wilsons of being "witches" in the 1970s and tried to censor their music..... The irony clearly lost on Ms Palin....

October 10, 200816 yr after recent showings of Palin and McCain I would seriously worry if they got in. But who's to say Bush won't rewrite the constitution and use the financial crisis to justify that to stay in power even longer. Do you know how the country would basically go into civil war if that happened? NOT EVEN KIDDING.

October 10, 200816 yr Obama though both are far from perfect. Mc Cain might bugger the country up by staying in the Middle East and possibly getting involved in other stuff. This matters to Britain considering it matters just as much to us as USA when it comes to foreign affairs since we are their puppet.

Anyone who still believes that McCain is not just another Dubya needs to read this..... A fukkin' LIAR, a Spin-Merchant and a dirty SELL OUT with no fukkin' principles at all..... Fukk him and the horse called "Palin" he rode in on...... :P

October 15, 200816 yr http://www.palinaspresident.com What's sad is that's probably pretty close to what would happen if the Republicans win.

October 25, 200816 yr Definately Obama. We need a change, and by that I mean the whole world. We sure all be allowed in vote in the US elections (LOL) because whoever gets elected will affect every other country in some way or another.
October 26, 200816 yr I really really don't care tbh  For sure O'Bama is obviously the more sensible of the two but he's still far to the right of any European leader with very conservative values. This whole election has been completely blown out of proportion on British TV though, America doesn't have THAT much influence over our politics Europe is obviously far more important in determining our policies but I bet the majority of people couldn't name a single MEP
October 28, 200816 yr ..And now they've uncovered a Neo-nazi plot to kill Obama.... Predictable really, that was only a matter of time.... -_-
October 29, 200816 yr Poll shows that Obama's lead has been narrow. =S The polls always tighten in the last week. The state-by-state polls still show Obama on track for a crushing victory in the Electoral College so don't worry. To win, McCain is going to need to win almost every battleground state (in most of which he is trailing right now) as well as Pennsylvania, which has voted Democrat since 1992 and where Obama is currently ahead by more than 10 points. It isn't going to happen.
