Oh for heaven's sake ... Simon made the decision to keep Girlband because he was safe in the knowledge that the public had voted Girlband OUT! Nothing brave about it! I did wonder what was the point in having four judges ... and now I know why. It was to ensure that it is always given over to the public vote. Believe me ... this is the way every vote is going to go over the next weeks leading up to the final. It is a coward's way out for the judges ... but the end justifies the means ... it should always be on the public vote!

Ruth quite rightly won ... the only quandarry for me is ... how the hell she was in the bottom two anyway!

Are they all going to be doing Glen Miller tunes then? That is the only name that springs to mind when I hear 'Big Band'. Unless we count Joe Loss and James Last of course!

I bloody hate Big Band. Still, at least it should see the end of Scott.

I am now officially a Diana fan - she completely stole the show for me

Glad Scott did better tonight, he did well - and the right act went as well, even if their last performance was their best yet.

Cheryl buggered up her singing a bit as well - maybe the pressure got to her? Still, The Promise is a great song and I hope that pushes it to #1 next week ^_^

Oh purleeeeze let someone read Big Band as Big Banned and Beautiful and do Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Relax!

I seem to be alone in loving the big band week then

What do they mean by Big Band though?

It's the X-Factor we're on about here, take a BIG guess. :heehee:

Rat Pack stuff (along the lines of Robbies Swing album!)

:heehee: I've done my bit for X Factor this week  I just bought 'Man in the Mirror' :kink: My favourite MJ song now I think! I am actually not a fan of MJ... please say i'm not the only one... :(

I only like...

'Man in the Mirror'

'You Are Not Alone'

'Billie Jean'

and that's it  :o

Oh 'Black & White' is OK but my Dad has overplayed that!

I'm sorry ... but the thought of Robbie's Swing album has made me want to vomit! I can only take Swing when it is sung by a man in his 40's (at least) with the world on his shoulders, fag in one hand, genuine scotch in the other (and with no friggin' girlie ice). In other words ... Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet or Sammy Davis Jr. This music is in a time capsule of its own and should be dug out of one's record collection ... like some millionaire would dig out a fine wine from his cellar and savoured. If a superstar like Robbie Williams can't even get it half right ... what friggin hope in hell can this lot do? Having said that ... this is Daniel's time to come to the fore ... at least he has advanced years on his side!

Wow @ how terrible Girls Aloud were. Cheryl seemed really nervous.

I think Girlband going was the right thing to do. I don't agree with Ruth being in the bottom two, though (her second performance was fantastic).

I always enjoyed the Big Band week on Pop Idol, it seemed to go well for most acts.

Having said that, I bet Eoughn (is that how it is spelt?) sings Mack The Knife (like Gareth Gates did in Pop Idol).

I want Ruth to sing either Sway (perfect choice) or Feelin' Good.
Sway is DEFINATELY the perfect Choice for Ruth I agree ^^

It was great on Pop Idol but if I remember correctly on X Factor they don't really choose songs that I consider Big Band numbers. If done properly it certainly shows which contestants are the most versatile.

Favs for me tonight Alexandra & Ruth. Not getting Diana at all. She quirky but a bit one dimensional & her diction is awful.

Girls Aloud really aren't very good live. It looked very much to me as if they were only singing the verses (badly) - hence they were in tune for the chorus.
