 A dancing and singing school with no gays? what is the world coming to? ^_^

...Not to mention completely unrealistic and downright retarded.... In the 80s you could perhaps excuse the lack of gay characters in a show like "Fame", culture was different back then, Gay Rights was in its infancy as an idea, but in 2008 for a show of this nature to NOT have a few gay characters is frankly ridiculous and it just proves to me the type of show this will be.... I know for a fact that when it comes to Performing Arts students, completely "straight" students are in a minority, many PA students are bi/gay, one of my best friends at uni was lesbian PA student....

but comparing it to HSM this looks very amature and shoddy...

Comparing it to "Fame" it looks amatuerish and shoddy..... "Fame" was absolutely the best they could have made it in the 80s.... The film was made by incredibly respected British director Alan Parker (who also made Pink Floyd - The Wall, Bugsy Malone, The Commitments, Mississippi Burning, Angel Heart, Midnight Express, Evita.....).

I Might actually watch this to see what its all about

You'd be better off investing in the "Fame" box-set tbh.... Or the High School Musical trilogy box-set when it comes out....

This is just so obviously a cash-in on the success of HSM though, and it wont be nearly as professionally done... I'm not a fan of the HSM films at all, but at least it's done well and with a bit of class....

I've no idea what this show will be like - I've only watched the behind the scenes stuff from the website - and I must admit I don't think I'll be tuning in to the show itself (partly because I know on Sundays I'll be somewhere else at the time its on - and no - before anyone says - not mass!) Having said that - Fame was my time and I detested the film and the TV series (although the TV series was marginally better and I stress marginally). I find Alan Parker immensely hit-and-miss. I loved Bugsy Malone, The Commitments, Mississippi Burning and Midnight Express - but (in my opinion) Fame was drivel of the highest order and I don't know what possessed him to do it.

I did not like it :( I went into it with a completely open mind as well. Well, if an open mind is "It's going to be really awfully cheesy".

Fact is, it had only a few cheesy moments and wasn't actually anywhere near as cheesy as HSM. A good thing? No. Somehow, the bad acting, rubbish sentimental script and odd filming choices (part of it was a music video? ) didn't cut it without the cheese/trashy teen TV excuse which backs the like of HSM up.

And Mitch Hewer was not good OR fit :( Which was my main problem with the show obv.

^ Mitch Hewer has never been good at acting. He was DIRE in Skins.

And that hair is just WRONG.

I seen like 2 seconds of this it's so bad!!! cringe worthy! HSM rip off!! even tho i hate that too lol

Wow. It flopped.

And I agree with the person who said Mitch Hewer is an awful actor.

3.3 million.

I watched it, but thought it was going to be worse than it actually was (Rock Rivals bad),

so i think ill give it another shot next sunday. i have to agree about the acting it was absolutely terrible.

i didnt think the ratings would be that bad. what a flop

the songs were pretty good, good singers, but the actual plot and acting was direm don't know how I managed to watch the whole episode.

I shall be watching the 2nd episode for the sole reason of seeing Nicola and Kimberley from Girls Aloud

considering how much this was advertised only 3.3million ppl watching is terrible!
I saw it on ITV2 yesterday, it was ok I think it has a good storyline, but the songs have not really impressed me and the acting is just bad.
