Not too sure of the rules being a newbie but thought that Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy would be too well known to be an entry?

Red Blooded Women's promo tour will be announced on Monday and will start on Wednesday in Ashton, Moving onto FSR Rontvia on Thursday for a double show :w00t:

There aren't any limits on entries as of yet, apart from the condition that they may not be covers of songs entered before in the contest and may not have been entered into the Eurovision Song Contest (or be covers of ESC entries).

 

That said, I can't say I'm too happy at songs which are vastly well known or that will so obviously do well as to render them being entered pointless (Bokia's entry of Britney this time as a case in point IMO), and neither are many other participants - although that said, we've had several VERY cheap entries in the past (just look at the entries list to see such clangers as Nelly Furtado - Maneater or Evanescence - Bring Me To Life). Ultimately, aiming for something people are unlikely to have heard before is encouraged here - after all, the aim of the contest is to help people discover new music! :cheer:

I'm quite inclined to do something similar to Ben, maybe a top 20 of the best songs I have discovered via this contest

 

songs like Alphabeat's Boyfriend and the Gabriella Cilmi tracks don't count for example as I already had their albums

 

I don't think I've discovered 20 amaze songs through this competition. D: I mean, not that people enter bad entries; I'm just a fairly musically knowledgeable person so must songs that have been entered I already know of.

 

I may do a separate countdown of my top 5 though. ;o

I definitely discover at least 4 per contest I'd say, so over 10 contests (less so in the first three I suppose) I've definitely discovered up to 40 songs :o

Out of 10 contests Ashton will have contributed one of those :rofl:

we'll see I suppose when I compile the countdown :P but Red Blooded Women will be right up there...

I guessed RBW would be in it having received a 12 :wub:

I doubt owt else will make it as Ashton isn't really known for using unknown artists is it?

Gavin is said to be extremely delighted to go on a promotional tour, as he feels that it's "the right thing to do". He said "It's what you have to do these days, you have to earn your way in this contest, and what better way to do it than do something I really love doing. I feel this is what cost me in the first contest. Had I done a promotional tour of some sort, I perhaps would have had a bit more hope in at least making the final. But yeah, I can't wait to get it underway and to perform tomorrow in Kopecka."

Probably because it's really not that good? :kink: I wasn't in that contest and after a few people saying it was amazing/brilliant or whatever I couldn't wait to hear it when I was nominating for my Best of Nomo's and I was very under-whelmed :nocheer: I didn't get the fuss at all! :nocheer:

 

Although Rontvia's Smack Me on the other hand :heart: I didn't nominate it, but all I will say is that it has grown on me :wub:

shame you don't like Colour Me Dirty Johnjo :( I really like the use of the Yazoo sample :wub:

 

obviously glad that you like Smack Me though!

The Utopian entry will be funded with a tour for the first time.

 

No dates will be announced though, because they're almost utterly pointless.

Oh yeah, a tour........Elizabeth & The Catapult will be starting a tour tommorrow or Sunday.
