Posted October 28, 200816 yr here is a list of all of the male sung tracks that have finished top ten in the BJSC since the start: BJSC II 03: Kylienips - The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony BJSC III 02: Romeria - Europe - The Final Countdown 06: Rabbitland - Blink 182 - All The Small Things 08: FSR Rontvia - Andreas Johnson - Glorious BJSC IV 06: Kylienips - New Order - Blue Monday 08: Land of Jack - Hoobastank - The Reason BJSC V 02: Cascadia - BWO - Temple Of Love BJSCVII 05: Bhangra - Dima Bilan - Lady Flame 8 out of a possible 110 top tens have gone to male vocalists, and no male singer/lead vocalist has ever won a contest...is this because not enough people attempt to send men to this contest, or because female singers are Buzzjack's favourite? more men finished inside the top ten at the start...in the 'post Untouched era' since more and more people have started to enter, we have only had one male finish in the top ten, Dima Bilan's Lady Flame in BJSCVIII... should people even attempt to send male singers if they are guaranteed a place at the bottom of the leaderboard, or more likely, miss the final altogether? can a male singer ever win this contest?
October 28, 200816 yr Ojnoj are hoping to change this (seeing as he was robbed first time round -_-) with Gavin Mikhail next contest :w00t:
October 28, 200816 yr Author I'm always very tempted to send a male vocalist again but if he will just end up at the bottom of the semi-final, no matter how good the song is, what's the point!?! I used to be 100% into female artists and nothing else, but now I'd say it's 65/35 female to male ratio of the music I listen to, my artists sent in BJSC do not represent this however, as only 1 in 11 of my songs has been sung by a male...Untouched are a male/female duo but the guy didn't sing
October 28, 200816 yr I really don't know - I'd like to believe male artists could and should be successful with the right song however, when I think male artists are more associated with indie music which traditionally doesn't do all that well in the BJSC. I'm open minded though, I awarded Gavin Mikhail 12 points when he was in my semi whenever that was and have enterred two male artists in the past so if the songs good enough I'll vote male!
October 28, 200816 yr Well I'm not much of a fan of male music, there are plenty of male sung songs I think are really good but none of them are really special to me. The only male singer I've really liked in this contest was Gavin Mikhail with Fight the sky, gave it 10 points in the semi.
October 28, 200816 yr I just can't see a male vocal act winning a BJSC at the moment. Looking back at when I ran the Record of The Decade Game (it should be back again early 2009), just 2 of the Top 20 and 10 of the Top 80 featured male vocalists. Looking forward to 2009 I wonder whether it is worth say once every 3 or 4 Contests running a special theme such as male vocalists; British & Irish acts only; USA/Canadian acts; Rest of the World acts; Songs older than the year 2000; etc to mix the format up a bit?
October 28, 200816 yr This is not good but something you'd expect from the civillians of Buzzjack. Nevertheless, I'm most likely going to use a male act next contest. Somebody tempt me into saying who :kink:
October 28, 200816 yr Most of the music i listen to is by female vocalists so the chances of me sending one is very slim (and even Chris Brown was with a duey with Keri) It would be good if we had a contest for only male vocalists though, i have a song especially preapered for that.
October 28, 200816 yr Ashton will never send a male lead song unless its an indie track. Just i personally prefer Female vocals. I blame the Spice Girls for getting me in this mess :kink:

Woo! :yahoo: I think Gavin was a case of people not wanting to vote for a male act... But I hope it's changed this time and people are more than willing to vote for them! This is not good but something you'd expect from the civillians of Buzzjack. Nevertheless, I'm most likely going to use a male act next contest. Somebody tempt me into saying who :kink: Who? You know you wanna tell us :naughty: :heehee:
October 28, 200816 yr Tokio Hotel - 'Monsoon' ssh I think I'm gonna need a lot of promo for this to make it to the finals though..
October 28, 200816 yr I don't think a male act can ever win this thing really. Most of the ones that have done well were UK hits with only BWO and Dima Bilan being relatively unknown. (and BWO's result is kinda excluded these days) I just think it'll be hard to find a male act to everyones tastes. I would say that over 90% of my iTunes library is compiled of female artists/songs and most of the male songs in there are much less frequently played by me. Looking back, the only songs with a big male part I've awarded points to are: - 10 Points to 'Killer' by the Hoosiers, it'd probably be much lower now as I've gone off them a little. - 3 Points to 'Superhuman' which was a male/female duet. - 2 Points to 'Green Light' which was John Legend and Andre 3000 - 2 Points to 'Broken Strings' which is another male/female duet. -_- So the only male-only songs I've given points to got a 10 and a 2 and in today's standard I expect the song I gave 10 points to would only manage about 3 or 4 points. -_- What can I say? It takes a lot for a male song to impress me - 'Green Light' is one of my favourite male fronted songs in a while and that could only get 2 points!
October 28, 200816 yr Interesting that 6 out of the 8 male led songs were all big hits! there have been loads more other male entries which have all flopped - Those are just the ones that made the top ten
October 28, 200816 yr I'm sending Frankmusik most likely next time. Hopefully he's gay enough to score me some points. ;D
October 29, 200816 yr there have been loads more other male entries which have all flopped - Those are just the ones that made the top ten  Sorry SIR! I think I'd know, being one of them. Let me rephrase that: Interesting that 6 out of the 8 male led songs to make the top ten were all big hits! :P
October 29, 200816 yr well Im sending Darin this time...and im gonna do some promos around buzzjack countries. I think he is pretty hot and can lead me to final after 3 or 4 flops lol I really dont know how many times I missed final. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/66/Darin.jpg Edited October 29, 200816 yr by Addy!
