I do hope Diana can get better and sing again from this week on. But there's no need for the puke next to Laura she was as good as Diana :D

Were we watching the same show?

Laura is the 2nd best vocalist there has been on X Factor after Leona and her versions of Fallin' and Somebody Else's Guy were as good as anything Leona churned out, so she was given a bad choice of song, $h!t happens, doesn't make her any less of a singer whereas Diana made a complete dogs dinner of Call Me and did not have the vocal power to do the choruses properly

In 3 years time Laura will be a major international vocalist having had a lot of success

Leona >> Diana > Laura > Alexandra

tbh.

The most important thing in singing is power and Diana just doesn't have that, check out a You Tube of Call Me with Diana singing and a copy of the song with Debbie Harry singing, in the chorus of "Call me call me any anytime" she completely screws it up, Debbie Harry almost shouts it whereas Diana sings it in a low monotone voice because she hasn't got the strength in her voice to carry the chorus

Laura has that power of voice to be a big success so does Alexandra so does Ruth

Leona >> Laura > Alexandra > Rhydian > Ruth > Ben > Brenda >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Diana

Anyways winning some reality tv show does not mean success

Who is by far the most successful Fame Academy singer ? Lemar by a country mile, who hears of the winners ? in 3 years time I am 1000% certain that Laura will be a superstar and Diana will be talked about as "Diana who ?"

In three years time I'm pretty sure no one from the X Factor will even still be around! Leona will be churning out the same thing over and over so I'm sure even Radio 2 and commercial radio listeners will become very bored of her!

B.A.... am i benig stupid... whose Brenda? lmao

im sorry, but for a start how can you claim Rhydian is better than Ruth? Rhydian had the vocal power of a cat with the one exception being his highly criticised performance of 'Get The Party Started'

Diana DOES have power to her voice and, imo, her performance of Call Me was incredible... just my opinion though

Brenda was 3 series back, a black woman with a really powerful voice and got ridiculously booted out at an early stage

Let's go back in time:

You've changed your tune from 2 years ago - here is just one of several posts you made back then. I remember it well because we clashed as you thought Ben Mills - what a multi-platinum successful career he has had since then (whom I described as a 2nd rate Joe Cocker impersonator) whereas I was a fan of "Mariah Houston":

It is not a fact it is purely YOUR opinion

If she entered Stars In Their Eyes as a Mariah impersonator she would win it by a country mile and indeed in Stars In Their Eyes final I would probably phone in a couple of times and vote for her but she has shown nothing in this series other than that she is a Mariah impersonator who can sing tedious ballads although admittedly she sings them well

I would say Brenda and Maria last year were every bit as good as Leona vocally

I would put Shayne ahead of Leona too as a singer, Shayne showed last year he can sing all different types of music he did great versions of Bryan Adams, The Darkness, Scissor Sisters etc in the competition rounds then capped it off in the final with one of the best renditions of a song I have ever heard

Leona has to shake off this Mariah tag as she has proved nothing yet so to say that she is the best ever as some sort of statement of fact is laughable

Well who has had the best selling single of the decade that has sold over 9 million copies worldwide topping the charts in 35 countries.

Seeing how Whitney has wrecked her voice thanks to her chemical intake, and after last week's X-Factor I think it is safe to say Mariah Carey has lost a hell of a lot of the remaining fans she had, as she is not a patch on the singer she was over a decade ago then Leona's success is richly deserved. Even I would have never imagined seeing her perform with Jimmy Page. PS. I think the album Spirit is soulless by numbers rubbish.

As for Laura = see Ben Mills.

Leona has impressed me more than I expected, I thought Bleeding Love after a few plays was a great record and I liked a couple of others on the album and her Radio 1 Live Lounge version of a Snow Patrol song so she has performed outside of X Factor better than I imagined in terms of the material she has churned out, she is still lacking in charisma and in looks but she has definite vocal ability that is without doubt, am still not sure she is a long term bet but she has surpassed the quality of song I was expecting when she done X Factor, credit to her, hope it continues

:o I never knew 'Bleeding Love' has sold that much, it's on just over 3 million in the USA and under 1 million here, I'm surprised it's managed to sell 5 million in the rest of the world.

Diana is the best singer in the competition. She doesnt have a powerful belting voice but thats what makes her special. You dont have to be a big ballad belter to be a successful singer. And, she didnt sing Call Me like Blondie. Thats why it was original. It doesnt have to sound exactly like the original. She makes each song her own. I completely agree, Laura had incredible power but you cant say that Diana isnt a good singer because she doesnt have loads of power. What she has makes her unique and fantastic :D
Diana, whilst she may not have the vocal ability of Leona, Laura and Alex is generally a better artist as whole, is more unique and unlike Laura doesnt manage to sound rather dull on several performances. Dont get me wrong Laura's version of Fallin was brilliant but she went downhill from there on.

She is a competent singer, I can see her in 3 years time on stage at Glastonbury for instance but I don't see her as a global superstar doing sellout performances in Madison Square Gardens, she will appeal to a niche UK based market of hippies and indie kids and so on but I don't see her having any real appeal outside of this country or any longlivety even in this country bar a niche alternative style market

Laura I could see the Americans taking to her, she has that raw power to her voice

Is it so important though for our acts to be 'big' in America? For so long now the world and in particular the UK has shown this 'deference' towards the US when the the US has shown that it can turn out as much sh/te as the next nation.

Kate Bush is a distinctly British phenomenon ... yet she is a much better artist and more critically acclaimed than Madonna who is just a legend in her own leotard. A bloody rich leotard but ... you get my drift? I'd like to see Diana follow in the footprints of Kate than Madge!

America is overated LOL. Also no way would the US take to Laura, talented yes but does she stand out from the crowd of other artists, no.

Kate Bush is on a different planet as a vocalist than Diana though, she had/has amazing power to her voice as well as uniqueness and is one of the greatest vocalists this country has ever produced, Diana can't be compared with Kate its like comparing Shergar with a New Forest pony

Diana is nothing special, she is a bit flaky/different/wacky etc in her style but I don't hear anything in her style of vocal that makes me go "wow :o " nothing that sends shivers down my spine, to rephrase Louis Walsh's quote on Daniel I see Diana as Nikki Graham doing karaoke at a Big Brother reunion night

Of course you're right ... Kate Bush is probably not only the best British singer / songwriter ever ... but also one of THE best ... period. And Diana doesn't have a fraction of Bush's talent. What I am saying though that as good as she is - Bush (to my knowledge) had no (or at best very little) success in the US. Does that make her any less worthy? I was against your suggestion that we should 'kow-tow' to the Americans for their 'superior' musical knowledge and talent?

Cowell seems to have focused on Leona way more towards the USA market as opposed to the UK

Getting her to work with American producers, getting her to do the rounds on American chat shows, getting her to relocate to LA, I do not think that America is a vital market, Pink and Anastacia are way more popular in Europe than America but Cowell does seem to have this obsession with cracking America so THAT is what I was referring to, if Cowell is going to try make Diana big in America I think he is wasting his time
