She is a competent singer, I can see her in 3 years time on stage at Glastonbury for instance but I don't see her as a global superstar doing sellout performances in Madison Square Gardens, she will appeal to a niche UK based market of hippies and indie kids and so on but I don't see her having any real appeal outside of this country or any longlivety even in this country bar a niche alternative style market

Laura I could see the Americans taking to her, she has that raw power to her voice

Every series of American Idol there are always at least a couple of Laura's most whom have more personality and vocal versatility than the lass from Bolton. Therefore I don't think they'd be interested in her. I could see the Hispanic market show an interest in Ruth, or the Collegiate/Lilith Fair audience show an interest in Diana but that's it.

Laura will probably go the same way as Ben Mills & Maria Lawson and not have a career unless she gets some original penned songs that are rather good, because she completely lacks an image.

But personally I can't see Diana be anywhere near that big either unless she is given the right material to grow a cult audience which is never going to happen with Simon Cowell so if she wins (which I seriously doubt as I think the grans, teenage girl & Irish vote will ensure an Eoghan landslide), then the best I can see happen for her is go down the Natalie Imbruglia, Delta Goodrem route and have a three album maximum career.

Of course you're right ... Kate Bush is probably not only the best British singer / songwriter ever ... but also one of THE best ... period. And Diana doesn't have a fraction of Bush's talent. What I am saying though that as good as she is - Bush (to my knowledge) had no (or at best very little) success in the US. Does that make her any less worthy? I was against your suggestion that we should 'kow-tow' to the Americans for their 'superior' musical knowledge and talent?

And I wasn't really focusing on America anyways, the Madison Square Gardens thing was a throwaway remark as that is one of the most famous concert venues in the world

Shayne Ward is massive in the Far East and in Africa for instance so it is not just the American market I referred to when I talked about conquering overseas

Cowell seems to have focused on Leona way more towards the USA market as opposed to the UK

Getting her to work with American producers, getting her to do the rounds on American chat shows, getting her to relocate to LA, I do not think that America is a vital market, Pink and Anastacia are way more popular in Europe than America but Cowell does seem to have this obsession with cracking America so THAT is what I was referring to, if Cowell is going to try make Diana big in America I think he is wasting his time

Wasn't meaning to have a go at you by the way ... its just that I do get cranky when people focus on success in the States as being the benchmark for credibility. I mean take Robbie Williams (please someone take him) Seriously though ... as much as I personally cannot abide the bloke - he is one of the most globally successful artists ever and yet US success has evaded him so far and probably always will do. But are we to disregard his universal success just because the States wouldn't know him from a guy selling hot-dogs on the street?

If he is so mature looking for his age then why was he one of the oldest auditionees for BBC1's I'd Do Anything's Olivier (for those not in the know the character in the Charles Dickens novel is 9 years old), where he failed to make the Final 16 for the TV knockout stages, presumably because his inability to hold a tune in a bucket every week.

I guess this is further evidence that Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is a better judge than Simon Cowell and co.

Firstly, you have mentioned this point about 5 times, we know, and we get it.

Secondly, with regards to the actual point, I said nothing with regards to how Eoghan looks, I am referring to his attitude and general maturity, which is to be commended.

Oh yeah, i heard this aswell. Apparantly she's also suffering from stress now that Laura's gone

Cole 'catches illness from Vickers'

Cheryl Cole has reportedly caught laryngitis from her X Factor contestant Diana Vickers.

According to The Mirror, Cole fell ill after Saturday's live show. Vickers was forced to pull out of last weekend's episode because of the bug.

The Girls Aloud singer is also rumoured be suffering from stress following Laura White's exit last week.

"She took the day off on Monday to recuperate and even postponed promotional work," said a source.

"Her schedule is packed right up until the show and she is doing her best to get well. She can hardly speak, her throat is so bad."

Gosh, some people on here are really vile and cruel when it comes to people they don't like.

Either they will complain she doesn't get involved enough in the process, or they'll say she's too much involved and sensitive about the contestants she is mentoring. Nonsense !

And being happy with her being sick.... No word to describe it.

I'm not happy with her being sick, even if it isn't anything major. I just don't see how she can get stressed over one of her contestants leaving, it's quite odd. :/

I'm sure the media are making more out of it than there is. She's probably just got a sore throat - brought on by saying 'gawjus' too many times.

Don't worry, the "happy with her being sick" comment was not for you, but for the little eejit who commented "Good, hopefully she never speaks again".

first of all darling, EJIT is not spelt EEJIT

Second of all, why are you still saying ejit? WELCOME TO THE 2000s BABE

third of all, i LOVE how you have to bring sugababes into it, as if we're insulting her because she's a GA member? No, we're insulting her because she is F-O-U-L.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

It's not because she's a Girls Aloud member, I think Sarah is godly.

I hope Cheryl Cole contracts smallpox AND AIDs AND dies a slow and painful death. WITCH.

Hello to Lily Allen or is it Charlotte Church.

For the record I can't stand Cheryl Cole either, she is an awful judge and she showed her true colours last week with Laura's eviction blaming everyone but herself for ruining Laura's chances of winning with last week's cringeworthy song choices, bad dress-sense, and that choreography with the playing piano.

She is nothing more than a pretty face talking little of merit with cliches galore (a lot like Amanda Holden in Britain's Got Talent then!)

PS. I think Girls Aloud make great pop records and having caught some of that Channel 4's For The Record (?) shows Kimberley & Nicola came across really well as very likable human beings.

Simon was perfect when he summed Diana up on the first live show. Because on here she is like Marmite you will either love her or hate her! No prizes for guessing which side i'm on :kink:

And as for Cheryl Cole... I LOVE her  but Kimberley is by farrrrr GA's best member  Kink:

Edited by Johnjo07

Definatly, as many people love her as much as they hate her.

No one will ever beat Nicola as the best GA member LOL. Nadine way down at the bottom.

Oh Bertie :(

Jake wishing death on Cheryl Cole is a bit harsh, but nonetheless his opinion on a celebrity (one who puts herself in the public eye and therefore should expect to get judged). Wishing AIDS on a fellow member of the forum is NOT acceptable, however, so please cease from doing so.

For the record, I think Cheryl is a gret judge this year, and is one of the few decent things in what is fast becoming a farcical tired show.

LOL I love Bertie.

All I did first was to say I find it not acceptable to wish death to a celebrity : it's the same as an Internet user, it just can't be said. I have been harsh on Dannii sometimes but I never wished her the worst, even in a "joking" way.

I was just shocked noone reacted to it, cause even if it was a joke, it's still not something to be said (and repeated) just to annoy someone. I just had to say the same about James (even if I didn't mean it, like Jake didn't mean it about Cheryl too), and everyone got shocked and reacted to it... it was said exactly in the same way that Jake said few posts before, but I got booed instantly while Jake got safe.
