November 19, 200816 yr We all know it's going to win anyway but is it necessary to practically tell us before the results are being read? For such a big final I'm not finding it that hard to narrow down my songs. It's just that the ones I have narrowed it down are bringing up questions. Should I give points to the songs that have done really well in my chart (and the official one) that I've now overplayed? or should I try to go for songs that I see as BJSC songs? I mean three songs in the final have reached #1 in my chart but I doubt they'll be my top 3 points because it doesn't seem right even if they probably are my three favourites. Vote for your favorites - You should ignore any influences the BJSCs in the past may have had on you ^_^
November 19, 200816 yr I think I've given points to All the winners since I've been in this contest tbh  Margaret got the most points of any winner though I think... 10 Points (Regretably but I loved Star Pilots at the time ) I think! and Lenka 8 Points... But I don't think I've given Massive points to the winners... Katy Perry = 3 Points Lily Allen = 6 Points Margaret = 10 Points Brandy = 4 Points Lenka = 8 Points As you can see Winners don't do as well as expected with me :o Although Margaret probably deserved the 12 over Star Pilots :( though
November 19, 200816 yr Author Looking back, BJSCI - And Then We Kiss - 6points (Strange....) BJSCII - Dangerous - 0 BJSCIII - Not Ready To Make Nice - 5pts BJSCIV - Love Song - 12pts  BJSCV - Eledan - 5pts BJSCVI - Black Butta - 12pts  BJSCVII - I Kissed A Girl - 12pts    one of my all time fave BJSC songs. BJSCVIII - Guess Who Batman - 10pts  BJSCIX - Will You Remember Me Tomorrow? - 8pts (Why the f*** did i not give this 12?) BJSCX - Right Here - 0 BJSCXI - The Show - 0 I have only ever not voted for the winner 3 times. Two of which have been the most recent contests. 5 times the winner has had big points from Ashton (12/10/8) I must apologise to Ben i think i may have got ATWK mixed up with Dangerous  Edited November 19, 200816 yr by f1mad
November 20, 200816 yr No need to apologise for anytihng. ;o It's not like you HAVE to like the songs I sent haha (and, looking back now, I don't think I'd even give And Then We Kiss many points if it was entered now ;o). I just felt like as a country I was being singled out for having 'bad' entries and thus was a little hurt. A lot of people keep commenting on how Right Here is the worst winner etc. etc. so it gets kinda grating. I know it's not really that popular among the core BJSC players, but it appealed to nearly everyone else... There must have been something good about it, considering that a track in the same vein (Us Against the World) failed to qualify the next contest. Twas an excellent R&B song imo. ;o Why I entered it. For me... BJSCI: And The We Kiss [x] BJSCII: Dangerous [0] BJSCIII: Not Ready To Make Nice [5] BJSCIV: Love Song [0] BJSCV: Gomenasai [5] BJSCVI: Black Butta [0] BJSCVII: I Kissed A Girl [x] BJSCVIII: X BJSCIX: Will You Remember Me Tomorrow? [0] BJSCX: Right Here [x] BJSCXI: The Show [2] Never been one to like the winners. XD My favorite was Lily...would have given it 8 points had I been at home.
November 20, 200816 yr Author You did introduce me to IKAG :kink: I still love this song, and am more than happy to request it when i go out. Fuk the rest of the clubbers, i don't care if they are sick of it it is an amazing club choon
November 20, 200816 yr Vote for your favorites - You should ignore any influences the BJSCs in the past may have had on you ^_^ True, though that piece of advice doesn't work in your favour. It would just feel weird to give my highest points to things like 'So What', 'Love Song', 'Paper Planes', 'Up', 'I Kissed A Girl', 'The World Should Revolve Around Me' and 'Hometown Glory' as they all went top 3 in my chart (except Katy Perry who got to #10) and at least top 20 in the UK chart. I'm not saying I wont vote for any or all them but it just doesn't feel right. It would seem like I'm voting in a record of the year contest, not a Best of BJSC. Of those, only Katy Perry was introduced to me through this contest, though Sara Bareilles would have been new to me at the time had I been in BJSC IV. Little Jackie, P!nk and The Saturdays were also fresh enough at the time to receive high points from me in their original contests but perhaps a little too close to the release dates in retrospect. (look at me, the person who sent 'No Substitute Love' and 'Dream On' around the time they were released.) BJSCVI - Black Butta - 12pts  It's a shame it's no longer your favourite from that contest. :(
November 20, 200816 yr Author It's a shame it's no longer your favourite from that contest. :( I still  it tho. Obv. i pure arse lick Smack Me now, but i still  Black Butta, she has an amazing voice
November 20, 200816 yr If it helps you at all, I'm just voting on which songs I like best, popular or not. ;o Some of the more popular songs entered (IKAG, Love Song) were entered far before they were worldwide hits, so that's something to always keep in mind. It may feel a bit weird, but I feel like this is the best of. ;o We know all of the songs already, let's pick the best.
November 20, 200816 yr A lot of people keep commenting on how Right Here is the worst winner etc. etc. so it gets kinda grating. I know it's not really that popular among the core BJSC players, but it appealed to nearly everyone else... There must have been something good about it, considering that a track in the same vein (Us Against the World) failed to qualify the next contest. Twas an excellent R&B song imo. ;o Why I entered it. Personally, Right Here (Departed) is probably my favourite winner and it's the only one I've given 12 points in 6 contests. (though I couldn't exactly vote for myself in one of them) That said, I like all 11 winners so far but with the exception of IV (and VI :kink:) I think there were better songs in the contest. Like you say, it must have had something special as R&B really isn't that popular in this contest, the ones that do well are usually on the Pop side. I still  it tho. Obv. i pure arse lick Smack Me now, but i still  Black Butta, she has an amazing voice Ah good, I just think it'll be a struggle for the song as there are quite a lot of players who joined after BJSC VI so any song from before that already has a slight disadvantage as they wont be as well known. You could say that for most people (like anything before BJSC VI has a 'disadvantage' with me) but I think VII is the most significant as it was the one where the contest exploded. I guess I'll be happy if finish top 5 out of the winners but even that is a bit of a stretch. It may feel a bit weird, but I feel like this is the best of. ;o We know all of the songs already, let's pick the best. I'm sure I'd feel the same if I had entered all, or most, of the contests but I've only been in half of these so some of the older winners, September, Wynter Gordon, Regina Spektor etc. are quite fresh to me. I'm sure I'll manage to get some warped set of votes sorted out tomorrow.
November 20, 200816 yr Am I the only one who doesn't get the fuss of WYLMT? Oh, no, I really dislike it as well. ;o Buttt obviously people love it. I just don't think it's a BJSC defining song as people have stated.
November 20, 200816 yr Author come on peoples :cheer: the more votes we get the more accurate the outcome Every vote counts :kink:
November 20, 200816 yr Am I the only one who doesn't get the fuss of WYLMT? Really thought that it was overated when it won and beat the far better So What (IMO) Since then however it's really grown a whole lot more than me and i definatly should have given it points.
November 20, 200816 yr Right Here is IMO the worst winner. Such a vile song, actually most of the top10 from BJSCX was horrid I can't say I enjoyed it at the time but it has grown on me quite substantially over time I did like most of the top ten of BJSCX I think...
November 20, 200816 yr Oh it is :P It's the one I remember when I think of BJSC :o so do I :D not necessarily because it's the best song that's ever been entered, but because of the crushing nature of its win even though nobody had ever heard of Margaret Berger and there is no chance of the song ever escaping into the British charts what do other people feel are BJSC defining songs?
November 20, 200816 yr Hmmm, I think that Fidelity and Love Song were quite BJSC-defining in the earlier contests...since then, I Kissed A Girl, Mine All Mine and WYRMT have taken that IMO :o
