I got Take That, Britney and Same Difference in HMV today. Zavvi just up the road didn't have any new releases at all (this was at 5pm).. No TT, no Britney and no SD. In fact the new releases section still had last weeks releases in it. I guess they had a stock problem?!

Anyway, I got bored with Take That's album, Britney's is so much better and more enjoyable to listen too. This is coming from someone who is a TT fan and also a Britney fan who hated Blackout...

I completely disagree, I could listen to Take That's one all night long but Britney's one continues to wash over me apart from 4 or 5 standout tracks...

Barring numerous stocking problems stunting sales Circus should easily surpass Coldplay’s first week’s sales! Although Zavvi seem to be having problems as well as obviously woolies while both HMV’s had sold out by mid afternoon.

I think it’ll be No1 for the rest of 2008 no question.

21/12/08 – 24/12/08 & 27/12/08 364k

It could well be a close run contest for the biggest seller of 2008 by the end of the month.

I so hope your prediction is right!

I've only heard half of the Take That album so far - the only song I don't like is Hello and I'm reserving judgement on Julie - I don't like songs with girls names in - apart from Elvis Costello's Alison. Said It All is just stand out marvellous and Jason's track How Did It Come To This is weird but great! I've got to wait until tomorrow to listen to the rest of it. So far .... I think it is much better than Beautiful World - more raw and a bit rough and ready - BW was a bit 'overproduced' for me.

Norma

id be very happy with huge huge sales i did think for a while the circus may struggle to match the mammoth suucess of beautiful world but with the way things are looking it could very well match it

Bloody hell. I've not actually heard the album, have heard the previous albums album tracks though and decided not to bother with that album, but Take That have become so over-rated :o

I wonder if they'd ever do as well if Gary and Mark did the songs alone. The other 2 don't do much, do they?! It's surprising for a band who don't even play instruments.

Don't get me wrong, they have great tracks and I own their Greatest Hits.

I'd never think to buy a album before liking at least 2 tracks (unless it's come free in a paper or something before). I'll wait and listen to what's released off it before ever thinking of buying it.

You have to see the shows to realise what Howard Donald and Jason Orange put in. The live shows are what Take That are known for - and it is definitely a four-way project (if anything - Orange and Donald put more into the live show than Barlow and Owen do). They all though perform brilliantly live.

On being overrated - maybe Britney should take lessons in live performances! I did laugh at a comment from a spokesman from Sony in response to the mauling Britney got for her hilarious 'performance' on X-Factor "She has always mimed - it was all about the dance routines". I ask myself two questions ... what dance routines (strutting across the stage must take so much planning) and if she always mimes - maybe it isn't even her singing on her album. It's probably some fat old woman with facial hair! Just a suggestion!

Norma

yes they say she always mimes like its something to be proud of,,crazy

yes the live shows is what Take that are about and really shine and they all work equally hard in it and all have differnet roles and i know they dont play their own instruments but they write most of their own songs which more than makes up for that

Wow, Britney being outsold 14:1 by Take That. I'm guessing she's not even gonna have the #2 album.
well after her pathetic performance on x factor she shouldnt be shocked , britney has neve rhad a uk number 1 album and its looking like she never will either

I'm sure that's an exaggeration ... as much as I'd like it to be true. I'd love Leona to be able to snuggle up to TT in second place (in fact ... I'd probably have no objection to a true performer beating them to number one in the album battle).

I'd never call Britney over-rated though, in the way that if you bring up her name to someone nowadays they'd be less likely to call her amazing and the best thing around! They'd laugh at her shaving her hair off etc. and perhaps say "her new songs alright."

Also, I've seen Take That perform live on shows in the past. Flicked over to one of their live shows on The Hits or TMF too. They seem good, but I meant it in the recorded sort of way. Gary & Mark would never sell as many tickets for a live show because it'd never be as good as having the 4 of them there, but it still makes you wonder if their recorded music would do the same without Jason & Howard.

People seem to know that a Take That album will be quality meaning only hearing one track is enough ;)

I can't believe Britneys been compared with everybody...lately even with TT :o

OK I always knew and never expected Britney to perform live(im not sure If I want to hear her live lol) but its just what it is...I like her...whatever she does just it looks good to me ...and Im pretty sure there are a lot of others who dislike types of Britney and they prefer everything what is Live...no offense but I really cant imagine myself to a Coldplay concert :nocheer:

whatever its Madonna, Britney, Kylie, Beyonce, Rihanna, Christina, Pcd and now Lady Gaga...i'll go lol

I've bought Take That & Britney's new albums today. Well listened to Britney's new album first. I was a bit disappointed. Not many tracks stood out. Although the album seems more pop orientated than her last few releases, many of the tracks seemed rather bland and in my opinion, this album takes a step back in terms of creditability.

I'm listening to Take That's album now. Only heard the first 4 songs but like what I have heard. Its not anything amazing but its listenable and in line with their previous stuff. Thats my verdict so far.

 Actually listen to the album without criticising it on one performance! Which (like I keep saying) isn't HALF as bad as what people are making it out to be!

Considering that the previous record was 13k, I don't think Britney doing 1.5k at Asda is too much of a stretch. Hopefully she isn't being outsold at that margin everywhere else as she could miss the top 10. If Take That manage 450k this week, that puts Britney on 32k.
