OK I always knew and never expected Britney to perform live (im not sure If I want to hear her live lol) but its just what it is...I like her...whatever she does just it looks good to me.

That makes no sense to me! Does it make sense to anyone else? I must be getting old. I remember the days when people would actually throw things at a group / performer if they lip-synched!

Considering that the previous record was 13k, I don't think Britney doing 1.5k at Asda is too much of a stretch. Hopefully she isn't being outsold at that margin everywhere else as she could miss the top 10. If Take That manage 450k this week, that puts Britney on 32k.

Also don't forget TT album is £5.88 in ASDA so they're BOUND to sell alot more than the others at £8-£11 If there wasn't that big a gap, I'd be worried for TT tbh! But I just hope the sales beat 'Blackout' opening sales  But I am starting to doubt that now with all these reports that stock hasn't turned up etc... (Yes I know it's not only Britney that it's affecting)

I think there's some info on that in the Britney Spears Forum ;)

Both Britney's and Take That's album have been reduced to £5 on the download site 7Digital. Universal are shipping Take That CDs direct to stores after the collapse of EUK makes you wonder why Britney's record company have not got their act together and done the same?!

I couldnt see anything, i was thinking maybe £60 for standing tickets?

*penny drops* Ah, of course Take That are going to be outselling her by that much in Asda. I don't think it will be by quite as much elsewhere.

I hope not.

:( I really don't want her to miss the top 10.

I went over to another UK music forum and they all seem to be predicting that Britney will be #3 ( and take that #1 of course). I hope that they are not being too optimistic. ;)

Same here. The musical landscape at the beginning of the 1990s changed due to the fall out of the Milli Vanilli scandal (& other lesser scandals like Black Box, the "vocal enhancement of Paula Abdul", numerous dance records where there was a backlash against manufactured pop act who featured fit aesthetic looking individuals fronting acts where it was subsequently revealed a less attractive, older person sang the vocals.

This saw near overnight the ending of acts lip syncing of TV shows, and subsequently saw a growth of more "talented" acts who could actually match their records with their live performances of which Take That are the very best example of the pop music field (just comparing them with the earlier US boyband from the lip sync era New Kids On The Block live is like comparing Manchester United with Hartlepool Town), and why Take That are respected by the likes of Damon Albarn, The Gallagher Brothers & Tom Yorke. But within the last 8/9 years we've seen the level of acts miming increasing again which I think is very wrong.

That is why I despise ANY act who mimes, whilst I think it is deplorable for Simon Cowell to allow any star act to mime on his so called talent show. In my view anyone who thinks their is nothing wrong with an act who always mimes has something majorly wrong with them because to me it is musical fraud.

Ok, i was in loads of stores today and here's the situation in my area:

Asda- have TT and Brit for £5.88 and £9.50 respectively.

Morrisons- TT at £6.99 and Britney at £9.56

Sainsburys- Both at £9.79

Woolworths- Checked 2 stores which had no stock of either album (and looked decidedly bare otherwise, also their £5 offers from last week (if you could even get one in stock) have ended meaning their prices aren't great)

WHSmith- 1 store had loads of TT but no mention or copies or Brit at all. Other store i checked had none of either

Zavvi- Had no mention or copies of either, or any new releases. All seems to be last week's stuff, though shelves very full and well stocked (surprising if the reason they don't have Brit and TT is stock issues, though by the looks EUK's other customers managed!)

HMV- Had both albums available, TT for £6.99 and Brit for £9.99. Also, it is the only shop i saw either of the deluxe editions in. Brit's was £14.99, and think TT's was the same, though there was only a single row of each deluxe among the masses of standards in my HMV.

Note: Many of the above stores prices were in fact lower as the 2.5% VAT reduction was being applied at the tills.

Conclusion: Some stock problems for both, but TT's album is generally more available (seems to be the general feel from others' posts on here too), and always cheaper, often significantly. Obviously not expecting big Brit sales as price is so high in comparison! Take That were always going to outsell her, but these factors will lengthen their lead for sure. I don't think the overall sales will be 14:1 TT:Brit though.

Ps- the 13 track edition of Brit's Circus is available for £5 on 7Digital! Cheapest i've seen it! (14 track including Rock Me In is £7.99 i think, though why not just get the 13 track edition and buy that track for 79p?)

How much do you think Britney will do this week then? Do you think her sales for this album will top Blackouts?

I think she will safely top Blackout's 1st week sales (even though i don't remember exactly what they were, 30k-ish?), though may not match its #2 entry/peak position depending on what the rest of last week's top10 are doing. Leona has increased sales from release week, and with Run now being available with heavy advertising and a video, this trend could continue (she did over 80k last week)

The media are all over Take That's new album - They are just about to feature on 'News At Ten' I doubt anyone in the country will be unaware that Take That have a new album out by the end of the week  :cheer: :yahoo:

Especially as less than 30 minutes earlier Simon had lambasted Louis saying that the show was about 'singing' not 'dancing' then writes Britters a blank cheque to do just that. Incidentally - she didn't even dance - Miley Cyrus's performance was more choreographed and to compare Britney to Same Difference the week before would be like comparing Jake The Peg to the Ballet Kirov!

I share your excitement Poppy, although with a little more restraint! Take That deserve success with this album ... it is (IMO) even better than Beautiful World (and I love the Idle Race'ish 'The Garden')

Thanks for that.

By the way, Blackout sold 42k. ;)

Really? Thanks for the info. I think she'll get over 50k at least with this one. Also meant to mention above, think Killers will tail off sharply this week, whether its enough for Brit to slip ahead remains to be seen. GnR will have a similar drop, but maybe slightly less steep, although their sales were lower to begin with. I think she will see top5 ok, and the no2 slot is not completely out the question. Also, i think it's highly unlikely she'll miss the top10! Anyone else got any thoughts before the mids roll in tomorrow and we all cheat?

It's odd to see how albums and singles can be sold in more shops than others and cheaper prices than others and get away with it, but i'm in no way against Take That getting to number 1 over Britney Spears! Especially seeing as she does nothing but mime. I just find it odd. With the Mamma Mia DVD too. But I guess it's just the way it goes, nothings fair in life, lol.
