Dear X Factor/various people called Simon...

Even though it very lovely that you will be giving Mr Cohen loads of money this Christmas by covering Halelujah and making it number one...i think there's some other less obv records you should think about first....

Vegas - Possessed

think this could work well with one of those epic clips videos that you do...and Leon Jackson would still be on the charts if he had covered this...

So has 'Hallelujah' actually been confirmed as the official single?

according to music week page 5

Sadly it is  . It would be so funny if it didn't get to number 1, but sadly it is a major possibility it will :banghead:

Seeing how it contains the lines:

"Now I've heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord. But you don't really care for music do you..."

It seems rather appropriate.

Still as Simon Cowell despised in his autobiography "the two most overrated artists in the history of music who make nothing but pretentious music", which happen to be my all-time favourite male & female artists of then it is a good excuse to post these two songs by these said artists (who have both heavily criticised Simon Cowell and wont allow their songs to be licensed to Syco for use in the X-Factor) with songs about being famous & performing....

David Bowie - Fame

Kate Bush - Wow

Still they are clearly not as talented as Mariah Carey & Bobby Darin are they.

I've never read Cowell's autobiography. He didn't really say Bowie and Bush were overrated did he?

He certainly did. He also savaged Bob Dylan & Bruce Springsteen. And rates Bjork as the worst artist ever in the history of music.

He also said that he only mainly liked The Beatles early stuff "before they went weird and hippy bar the odd Paul ballad and Something, but prefers the superior version by Shirley Bassey".

Still what do you expect from the man who turned down The Spice Girls, dumped Kylie Minogue, turned down the option of signing Robbie Williams as a solo artist, passed on the song Baby One More Time for 5ive, and gave the world Sinitta, Robson & Jerome and Westlife?

Whilst in a recent interview in the Daily Mail he admitted he only listens as pleasure to Classical & Opera music, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Michael Buble, Josh Groban & Frank Sinatra.

To quote Paul McCartney "Simon Cowell is a cancer to the British music scene and its credibility around the world". (Mind you he admitted that he watches The X-Factor "because it is good car crash TV, but was angry at the way "they are ruining the blonde girl with the interesting voice, but the rest are nothing more than two a penny Butlins & Cruise singers").

Coming from someone who lost the love of his life to cancer that is serious stuff.

This I found particularly hilarious!

Well you know I've never been (personally) a great McCartney fan, but I think even I would agree with him on his assessment of Cowell. I always disliked the man (Cowell) but I did always think that, deep down inside, he had an appreciation for decent music and the hard work put in by artists. I think we know now though - that the fact he was willing to wave millions in the face of Britney for a 'badly' mimed performance speaks volumes for the man (and I use the term 'man' in its loosest sense).

From these comments, while Cowell is a highly successful business man, he clearly is thick-stupid when it comes to music.

I'm not exactly a fan of Bowie and Bush but there is no denying their rich diversity and contribution to music - and to describe Bjork as "the worse artist ever" is borderline disturbing. Maybe if she had covered a Mariah Carey song, stood infront of a thousand hairdryers and had 17 key changes, she would sound better eh Simon?

The man is the Pete Waterman of the 21st Century.

Right pair of dicks.

No wonder the records he has produced have been so poor.

Blame Lord Levy!!! He couldnt be prosecuted in connection with the "Cash for Honours" thing tho I think he maybe guilty of putting Waterman on the road to success when he was at Magnet Records (tho i suppose seeing how much you dislike waterman and seeing that Magnets ost successful act was probs Chris Rea - maybe that should have been Road to Hell??)

It's a real awkward one as Jeff Buckley's great version has recently been charting. It is currently at #49 and charting for 22 weeks so far.

Why do they always pick pure ballads?

This year I supposed it is to suit Orville.

It also could be said of Louis Walsh - PESTLIFE ring any bells!!
