December 6, 200816 yr I really wish they would stop blaming promotion. Girls has been performed on nearly every tv show going, and alot of interviews have commented on the name of the album. Promotion is not why its gone wrong (unless maybe Heidi means they've been overloaded (get it) by promotion) I wish they would just be blunt and say "the public just don't like us at the moment", its not like their the first act to experience this. Look at Kylie (just a quick example), she was extremely successful in the beginning of her music career, it nosedived and then it was picked back up. Blaming the r/c in my opinion is totally the wrong thing to do, their gonna get a few people's backs up who won't put themselves out for them which could create even more problems

December 6, 200816 yr That is a MYTH! Neither the one London date or the one Manchester date was sold out. Almost all the back of the arena's were covered by a black sheet and no seats were used on the top tier for the MEN. Yes there was  I was at MEN date and the back four sections of the upper tier of the MEN was curtained off, the rest of the upper tier had people there.
December 6, 200816 yr half the floor seats were curtained off in Newcastle too, and the back few rows in front of them were empty which was a shame :( Not sure about the balconies at the back as I couldn't see them from where I was. This whole era though was tainted by Girls (ironically it's only starting to grow on me now ), and the lead single is so often so important, for success later on in the era. Pull the plug on Catfights, and take more time and come back with a bang maybe in the new year of 2010.
December 6, 200816 yr I have a love/hate realeshonship with Girls, one day i think it's actually quite good but the next day i tend to think it's rather horrendous.
December 6, 200816 yr In my opinion, there is room for two types of successful musicians in the industry now. 1. The big acts like leona, GA, TT, rihanna and 2. The up and coming different acts that come every year such as mika, ting tings, lady gaga, alphabeat, katy perry, saturdays and so on. I so agree with this, so many established acts are really struggling, Some acts are endlessly hyped whilst others release under the radar. It's a use once and throw away industry. Record companies encourage this, as that's how they make their money, new acts demand less returns.. Radio One are also a culprit, IMO - the way they hype up certain acts constantly. All I can say is, look out those who are currently basking in huge success, as in a few years, they too could be considered old and uninteresting. Other casualties of the older acts doing less well are James Morrison, Lemar, Will Young (to a certain extent), Dido, Kaiser Chiefs, the Feeling, I doubt even Robbie would sell very well if he were to return in the current climate. December 6, 200816 yr Must say neither Girls nor WhatsThisNewOneCalled have had much of an affect on me. What happened to that time when the Sugababes were all edgy and different? We need innovation peoples!
December 6, 200816 yr I think Girls was the best single they have ever done. It had a bit of edge to it, most of their previous stuff is just pop fluff like GA stuff.

December 7, 200816 yr Don't be bloody ridiculous. Everybody's entitled to an opinion and none is superior or insulting. UGH.

December 7, 200816 yr I read, but to claim somebody else's favourite song is INSULTING is absolute madness. Do you even know the definition of the word? Sorry to be rude but this really irks. If somebody wants to favour Girls over About You Now or whatever, let them. It does not affect you in ANY way!
December 7, 200816 yr The Girls is one of my least favourite Sugababes singles too. I tried so hard to like it at first, but it's just too gimmicky and the verses they added sound like the demo version that should have been sent back. It's a shame because there are some good songs on the album, but all in all they've suffered from rushing it out. I don't blame the girls for blaming promotion for the poor reception of the album. Something went wrong with their promotion, but I don't think it's lack of exposure. They just aren't as cool as they used to be, and they haven't been able to adapt to the lack of tv shows such as CD:UK and TOTP. If a band were to admit after just one single that the album wasn't that good after all, the record company would be furious with them. It's better all round to use the 'promotion' excuse, even though a lot of people can see through it. I hope this single picks up, and the album with it, but it might be too late now. Is Every Heart Broken definitely scheduled to be the next single? I love it and it's got plenty of Sugababes character stamped all over it.
December 7, 200816 yr The single sales don't matter if their album was selling, but it's not and yet they're getting good airplay on all the radio stations, the only thing I can blame is the songs. They're not making people want to buy their album. :(
